Fashion Week is here, so prepare to be bombarded with inventive looks you know cost more than your monthly rent. Not every celebrity is hitting the marks this fashion week, or understands that snow is no excuse to look shabby.
Kelly Rowland recently announced that she’s engaged. The excited news was met with questions about her wedding plans. Apparently they don’t involve Beyonce. But it shouldn’t be a huge surprise. That’s one busy woman!
Seeing all of these shots of Beyonce hanging out with her Destiny’s Child ladies Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams is seriously messing with our heads. We honestly don’t know if we can go back to a DC-less world again. Simply put: We’re hooked. It was hard enough watching the trio bring the house (and the lights) down at the Super Bowl, but now these super cute photos Bey posted last night with her musical sisters pushed us over the line. We can’t say goodbye again! We know that Beyonce can be somewhat coy with her big announcements, so we’ve started wondering if she’s just dropping major hints with these pics. Could she be bringing Kelly and Michelle on her Mrs. Carter world tour?
If you’re reading this blog, chances are pretty high that you viewed the whole Ravens and 49ers tussle as the opening act to a far greater power: Beyonce. Her half time performance was without a doubt the most anticipated event of the night for us (even more than that Bar Refaeli ad), and Queen Bey did not disappoint! The diva left us all spell bound with a collection of her modern classics like (our fave) “Crazy in Love,” and even got some help from her Destiny’s Child sisters Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on “Single Ladies.”
Needless to say, everyone was blown away by her incredible showmanship. But one person on particular was particularly proud…He husband Jay-Z, of course! Hova went backstage after the performance to congratulate his lady in person, and the result was thankfully captured in the cutest Instagram known to human kind. “Lights out!!! Any questions??” the proud husband tweeted soon after, proving that we weren’t the only ones who thought that the half-hour power outage in the 3rd quarter was a direct result of Bey blowin’ some fuses!
Beyonce herself took to both Twitter and Tumblr to share some hot/adorable behind the scenes images from her time at the Superdome. In addition to the pics, she also spread some love with a self-penned thank you note to all ladies who shared the stage with her during Super Bowl Sunday. “What a proud day for African American Women!!!!” she began. How is it possible for even her handwriting to be sexy!? “Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, Jhud- You are all beautiful, talented and showed so much class! It was an honor to perform at the Super Bowl with you phenomenal ladies.”

It’s Friday, so I can confidently say that this is the best Tumblr of the week, maybe even, of the month. Bold claims, but after Destiny’s Child (aka Beyoncé +2) announced that they were “getting back together” with an album of unreleased remixes and one (1) brand new track, everyone flipped out. Meanwhile, on the cover of said new album, Vanity Fair makes a good point that “the only person on the cover with even a hint of a smile on her face, while Rowland and Michelle Williams look as though they feel slightly betrayed and can’t yet trust again.” Yikes.
If you’re close enough to a computer to read this, you’ve obviously heard about the tragedy befallen the town of Newtown, Connecticut. Latest reports say that 18 of the 27 people shot in a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary are children. Police have announced Adam Lanza as the suspected gunman; his mother was found dead inside the school. If only to distract yourself from the grim procession of new details (and the tears intermittently falling out of your eyes), we gathered celeb tweets for the survivors from everyone from Rihanna to Rashida Jones to Michael Moore. For more serious advice on how to cope with the tragedy, head over to MTV Act.
We’ve been all over the 40th American Music Awards, held last night at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. Get to VH1 Tuner for all the coverage. Stick around here for a bit, if you’d like to know what went down there fashion wise, though. In a nutshell: great red carpet. No real missteps, except three people, as you’ll see in our next post, but with that many people at the event, that’s hardly a number to be worried about. We’re super excited about this best-dressed list, as these 10 ladies really brought their A-game. Taylor Swift leads the pack, ditching red lipstick again as she did at the MTV EMA’s last week. She wore a sexy Zuhair Murad Pre-Fall 2012 mini dress, with an open back and and gorgeous gold beading sewn in. Strappy Jimmy Choos and smoky eyes completed the sophisticated look. Nicki Minaj, floored us too, in a neon yellow Monique Lhuiller gown, very similar, but a lot cooler, than the one Julie Bowen wore to the Emmys this year. Wearing the same color, only hers was sunflower, was Kerry Washington in a midi length Stella McCartney Resort 2013 dress with fringe detailing, styled with coral pumps that matched her coral lips. Carrie Underwood is next, looking fabulous in her purple beaded Abed Mahfouz Fall 2012 gown with rose-gold Jacob & Co. chandelier earrings. Kelly Rowland and Stacy Keibler went the same route with applique mini dresses, only Rowland’s was a Naeem Khan Fall 2012 dress while Keibler’s was a College Dinnigan number with a lot more embellishment, worn with Jimmy Choos, a Judith Leiber clutch and Neil Lane jewelry.
Besties Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison both made it on the list too, which is unusual, because they never synchronize like that. Which is a polite way of saying one of them always makes a bad sartorial decision when they both show up at an event together. We’ve fallen head over heels for the vintage silhouette and styling of Goodwin’s icy pink Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013 cocktail dress with her silver Jimmy Choos and her mirrored Judith Leiber clutch. Jennifer picked a black draped gown by Abed Mahfouz, just like Carrie Underwood. Rounding up the carrel are Pink and Heidi Klum, who both picked metallics, but to very different ends. Pink wore a stunning bronze Catherine Deane gown with a flowing skirt, and a laser cut leather bodice that looked like amour! Heidi wore a gold guipure lace mini dress from the Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2012 Couture collection with matching Christian Louboutin pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. It was a lot of skin, but it’s Heidi’s skin so she can pull it off like a pro. Do you agree with our picks?

The MTV Video Music Awards are known for having one of the most varied guest lists in showbiz, creating mind-blowingly random Hollywood juxtapositions. Many unexpected duos are tapped to present awards together, and sometimes folks are feeling friendly and just want a picture with their secret celeb crush. These unexpected pairings sometimes could be the musical collaboration of our dreams, much like Lady Gaga and Cher appearing side by side (with a side of beef) back in 2010. Or they could be the nightmare we wish would end, like the legendary meeting of Kanye West and Taylor Swift in ’09. Who would have thought teen sweetheart Mandy Moore would want to be hugged up with the creepy Marilyn Manson? The VMAs have given us some insanely wonderful worlds colliding moments over the years, so we’ve made a gallery to celebrate our favorite. Head down bellow to check out our 20 Most Unexpected VMA Pairings of All Time. Let’s hope we can have another 50 Cent and Paris Hilton moment this Thursday!

New York got a little more steamy yesterday, thanks to these two ladies. You got to love fire-engine red when it’s done right. We’ll start with Nicole Scherzinger on the left, who was attending the Men In Black III premiere in the city. She put on this gorgeous cherry colored Bill Blass dress and added Lorraine Schwartz jewels along with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and a Jimmy Choo clutch. Smart stylist! The fit is just perfect on her, and we’re glad she put on a strappy shoe as opposed to a clunky heel, as many starlets seem to be doing these days. We also love the length, and the halter is elongating that incredible body of hers.
Somewhere in the same city, photographers happened to run into Kelly Rowland leaving her hotel. She’s obviously headed to some sort of event, or a really glamorous date, because will you look at her gown? She’s working it out with that crimson color. This is her shade and she should live in it. The long, open hair adds an even sexier touch and those white ankle-cuff heels seem to be doing all the right things, too. This, in a way, is the longer version of Nicole’s dress. Both the singers have hit home runs in their red ensembles. Want to help us out with a winner?

At least two former Destiny’s Child members agree: no one expected Beyonce to be the first to have a kid. Not because she wouldn’t be an amazing mom (“She has always had this motherly spirit about her,” LeToya Luckett gushes) or because she’d have any problem finding a great dad (“God made Jay for her,” raves Michelle Williams), but because Beyonce has always been a career woman first and foremost.
“We just never knew that she would be the first to have a baby or the first to get married because we always knew she had a focus that was…not human when it comes to her work,” Williams explained at the Essence Black Women In Music event. Said Luckett of her former band mate, “She’s a planner! Literally, I think she planned her whole life out. ‘At 30, I’m going to have a baby!’ Then at 30, she had a baby. That’s just Bey.” Then Williams imitated Bey doing crunches and breast-feeding at the same time. “We’re gonna do crunches, Boo Boo! Come on!,” Michelle joked. Ugh, why did Destiny’s Child ever break up?
