What a happy, wedding-filled weekend this has been. Anne Hathaway marrying boyfriend, Adam Shulman, may have taken precedence in the news, but let’s not forget the other big nuptial that took place. Kings of Leon member, the exceedingly hot Jared Followillmarried his girlfriend, model Martha Patterson, on Saturday evening at Front Porch Farms about 40 miles outside of Nashville. He was the last KOL member to walk the aisle and we suspect that female hearts across the globe may be broken at the news. Caleb Followill is married to Victoria’s Secret supermodel Lily Aldridge, Nathan‘s married singer-songwriter JessieBaylin, and Matthew is married to musician JohannaBennett. And now Jared completes the quartet! US Weekly says that it was a country themed wedding and quite rustic and that both groom and bride wore Lucchese boots during their wedding. Their outfits were anything but country, though. Martha wore a gown that comprised a lace bodice and a big, tiered, feathered Monique Lhuillier skirt, which you can see in the pictures above tweeted by both Jared and Martha. Jared wore a black Gucci suit, FYI. Some more pretty sweet tweets from the couple let us in on the fact that they had taken the big step. Martha’s tweet read, “Marrying my best friend today. I’m the luckiest girl in the world.” Jared’s message was, “Aaaaaand I’m married. Happiest man in the world.” The more humorous one is the tweet you see right below. Congratulations, you two!
Twice as many babies! All the babies! Well, maybe not all of them, but today’s news definitely has more than we’d expected. Probably feeling the exact same way (or so we’d assume) is True Blood stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, who, two months after announcing their pregnancy, revealed that they’re expecting twins this fall. Also doubling up on baby news is Kings of Leon: drummer Nathan Followill, piggybacking on the arrival of brother and bandmate Caleb‘s brand-new daughterDixie Pearl last week, announced his wife Jessie Baylin‘s pregnancy on Twitter. “I’m beyond excited/anxious. Life is beautiful,” Nathan tweeted ecstatically.
And since double babies seems to be a theme today (just as it should be a theme everyday), look at Matthew McConaughey‘s kids. Look at them. Scurrying around mom Camila Alves McConaughey‘s legs like little ducklings, Lexi and VidaMcConaughey walked to their home in Tribeca today. It’s probably too much to hope that the McConaugheys could lead the Kings of Leon kids in some kind of adorable toddler bongo circle, but we refuse to give up hope. Anything’s possible…in our dreams! Everyone else dreams about celebrity baby bands, right? Alright, alright.
As the music world continued to mourn the loss of Whitney Houston, many of the stars on the Grammy red carpet decided that the way to honor the late diva was not to tone down their dazzling gowns, but to let them shine. Taylor Swift, Jessie J., David Guetta and Carrie Underwood were all aglitter. Amber Rose went in an entirely different direction, lighting up the evening in a bright yellow Versace. And then there were a few ladies and gents whose simple black was not the stuff of mourning, but of total sex appeal: We’re looking at you, Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson. Which were your favorites of the night? Browse through the pics and then share your opinion in the comments!
A day after we learned that Alessandra Ambrosio is doing her part to make the human race more beautiful comes more good news for the gene pool. Another Victoria’s Secret model, Lily Aldridge, and her husband, Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill, are expecting their first child, according to E! Online. The couple, who met at Coachella in 2007, got married in May. Aldridge, 26, is reportedly three months pregnant. And yes, that means that she was eating for two when she walked the runway wearing this:
Kings of Leoncanceled their US tour today in light of Caleb Followill‘s meltdown onstage in Dallas over the weekend. Says a statement from the band: “We are so sorry to say Kings of Leon are canceling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion. The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break. Unfortunately, the US dates cannot be rescheduled due to the band’s international tour schedule.”
While it must suck for fans who were excited to see the band, we imagine it’s probably it Followill — and the band’s — best interest to have a little time off. Jared Followill has been hinting via Twitter that larger problems may be plaguing his big brother, writing “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed” and “I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” Today he wrote of the news: “Utterly depressed. It’s completely out of my hands. Family has to come 1st.”
If you follow Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill‘s twitter account then you’ve already been privy to damning tweets that read, “Dallas, I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am. There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed. No words.” And, another one that was more explanatory — “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” These were written right after King of Leon lead singerCaleb Followill bailed on their Dallas show.
Apparently the heat got to Caleb, who left the stage saying, “I’m going to go backstage for a second, I’m going to vomit, I’m going to drink a beer and I’m going to come back out and play three more songs,” but never came back. Unsurprisingly, the audience met didn’t meet this announcement with joy at all and Jared took the microphone amidst their boos to say, “I know you guys f—ing hate us. It’s really not our fault. We will be back as soon as possible. F—ing hate Caleb, not us.” Unfortunately, they went on the cancel the next gig, which was in Houston, right after.
Whatever their problems are — and they seem to be plenty as there have been numerous accounts of brawls between them — they’ve released an official KOL statement to placate their fans. It says that the problem started when Caleb’s “vocal cords seizing” started mucking the vibe up and that they’re playing more shows in September to make up for the debacle. They’re hitting Dallas on September 21 and following up with Houston the next day. Tickets and refunds for the two shows that were just canned will be allowed. Hopefully this next round won’t end up with disastrous results again!
So here it is, the trailer for the Kings of Leon‘s highly anticipated documentary Talihina Sky, which will premiere at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. The trailer kicks in with Caleb drawling, “As soon as I knew we were gonna get a record deal, I never slept. All night long I knew I was going to hell, I wasn’t gonna be a preacher” and goes on to show the difference between the life the band chose and the life their preacher father would have chosen for them. While we think it’s going to be be borderline indulgent at some points (you’ll see what we mean when you watch the trailer) we’re still going to watch it to see how Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew Followill became one of our favorite bands. What do you think? Will you check it out?
Wonder what Ryan Murphy will have to say about this. Foo Fighter Dave Grohl went off on Glee at SXSW this week, telling The Hollwood Reporter he’s frustrated with the idea that rock bands should be grateful for autotuned cast renditions of their hits. “It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f—ing Glee,” said Grohl, And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f—ing show… f— that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee. I watched 10 minutes. It’s not my thing.” Fair enough, but you just guaranteed it will be your 4-year-old daughter’s thing, Dave.
Though he left out Nathan Followill’s ill-advised baiting of show creator Murphy (“buy a new bra”), Grohl otherwise did a solid job of explaining the drama to drummer Taylor Hawkins. “[Murphy] wanted to do Guns ‘n’ Roses and Slash is like, ‘I hate f—ing musicals. It’s worse than Grease.’ Then [Murphy's] like, ‘Well, of course he’d say that, he’s a washed up ol’ rock star, that’s what they f—ing do.’ And then Kings of Leon say, ‘No, we don’t want to be on your show.’ And then he’s like, ‘Snotty little a–holes…’ And it’s just like, Dude, maybe not everyone loves Glee. Me included.” Said the philosophical Hawkins, “Yeah, f— that s—.” Looks like Gwyneth Paltrow may have another beef to settle!
The vamp (who has impressed us with her man-scoring skills), tweeted of a familial reunion on St Paddy’s day, writing, “Dads in NYC!! going to grab some food him. #awesome.” ‘Tis awesome! What’s even better is the father-daughter meeting happened at Phebe’s Tavern & Grill in Manhattan with Jared in tow (a spot our NYC blog team frequents often). And as you can see here, there’s plenty of green regalia around in the spirit of the day. And by green we also mean us—with jealousy because we want both Ashley’s life and men. So what say you FABpeople? Just friends, rebound rockstar, or something serious?
If anyone can heal the world with a quick text message, it’s Gwyneth Paltrow. Seems that Glee‘s most famous guest star has brokered peace between the show and it’s most hated enemy, the Kings Of Leon, and she did it all with a few taps on her iPhone. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Paltrow got Ryan Murphy and the members of Kings Of Leon to apologize for all their various jabs at one another via text message, and the official word from all parties is that “it’s all good now.” That sounds like something you’d expect to hear if The People’s Court was presided over by Matthew McConaughey, isn’t it? “Are you guys both still mad? No? S’all good now.”
