Chris Brown gave yet another interview this weekend, this time to ABC’s Robin Roberts on “20/20.” In addition to his countless apologies and his version of what happened the night he attacked Rihanna, he also claimed he wrote a song for her which made her cry.
First, Brown admitted that he was heavily coached by PR people when he released his YouTube apology to the world, saying, “They just telling me like, ‘OK, don’t say this. And don’t say it this way, ’cause they’re gonna take it this way. So, I had in my — my head wasn’t really giving me a chance to be me. It was just being myself through other people. … It was genuinely from me, but it wasn’t projected genuinely.” We can understand that – although the one thing we’ll never understand in all of this is that bow tie he wore on “Larry King.” But ANYway.
Brown also said that he apologized to Rihanna many, many times, which we’ve been hearing for months now, but he also said he wrote the song “Changed Man” for her (coincidentally off his new album which releases tomorrow). A month after the incident, Brown played the song for Rihanna and says, “She called when she first heard the song. And I mean, I’m not trying to say — call her any liar or anything like that. But I played the song for her when I first wrote it. And she cried.”
We’re not entirely sure why we would think he was calling her a liar in this situation, but just so you know, world, convicted abuser Chris Brown doesn’t think Rihanna is a liar. Brown discusses his anger management classes and the fact that he never had any altercations with previous girlfriends, etc. etc etc. At this point it feels repetitive and while we’re almost starting to pity him, we wish these PR-heavy, face-saving interviews would go away. Chris Brown appears to be running out of ways to say he is sorry for beating Rihanna. After his YouTube video and appearance on Larry King, Chris is now appearing on 20/20 and spitting out some pretty familiar words. “I was wrong for what I did. And I would definitely say that it’s not past or look over. It’s something that’s really, really touchy. And, sorry for what went down, and what happened,” Chris said. Chris sounds pretty bored with apologizing; maybe this is his way of trying to get the world to stop talking about it too? [Photo: Splash News Online]
Rihanna ripped it up last night in this animal print dress with some very strategically placed tears that showed off the singer’s curvaceous figure. Riri was all smiles last night after her performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. She headed over to Manhattan hotspot M2 where she partied in a VIP area and danced with her pals until late into the evening. A fellow party attendee tells TheFABlife, “Rihanna was in great spirits: she was definitely the life of the party.” [Photo: Splash News Online]

Stardom and success may improve treatment once you’re on an airplane, but when you beep, you beep. Rihanna got a once-over with the metal detector at LAX yesterday, to her visible annoyance. The Rated R singer was on route to New York, where she’ll be holding a party at M2 tonight for fans who were kept out of her last shindig in the city. Watch her suffer the indignities of airline security in the gallery below.
Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Adam Lambert may get a lot of press, but none were able to snag the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 200 with their new albums last week. No, the decisive Thanksgiving week champion was none other than UK singing sensation Susan Boyle, who sold more than 700,000 copies of I Dreamed A Dream, the biggest opening week for a debut album since Snoop Dogg‘s Doggystyle in 1993. Holy shizzle!
Not only did Boyle knock Eminem out of the running biggest opening week of 2009 (though AC/DC did bigger numbers in 2008), Boyle sold more than Lambert’s For Your Entertainment, Rihanna’s Rated R and Gaga’s The Fame Monster EP combined—each selling only 150-200k copies (still career highs for all). Gaga can also take comfort in the fact that if you combine the sales of The Fame Monster and her first album, The Fame (at #5 and #6, respectively), she’d snag the #2 spot away from Andrea Boccelli‘s month-old My Christmas. Meanwhile, last week’s #1, John Mayer‘s Battle Studies, falls out of the top ten entirely in its second week. Gossip is undoubtedly good for sales, but it’s no stocking stuffer compared to opera.
Rihanna recently confirmed to Hot 97 that it was really her in those nude photos someone leaked last May. “They were for my boyfriend at the time,” she told the station, “if you don’t send your boyfriend naked pictures, then I feel bad for him.” Yes, even with the public embarrassment she suffered after they leaked (“I thought, ‘Oh great, so now there’s nothing they don’t know about me and my private life’”), Rihanna is standing firm that providing naked photos of yourself is a lady’s romantic obligation. Making mom blush is just collateral damage.
“It was humiliating and it was embarrassing—especially my mom having to see that,” she continued, explaining that she sent flowers before breaking the news. “I was nervous [but] when the world is against me, she’s always there supporting.” Considering the same can’t be said about Chris Brown (who denied leaking the photos), maybe she should reconsider her stance on boudoir photography.
Ever wondered what Rihanna likes to blow all that hard-earned “Umbrella” cash on? Turns out she’s all about heels and sexy panties, people. The singer told VH1 that she loves shopping for lingerie because, “you get to go and play dress up in the dressing room with your best friend.” We bet there’s a line of guys hanging outside her house just waiting for a chance to be her BFF on her next trip to Victoria’s Secret. Rihanna can do it all – sing, dance, revolutionize short hair, and – cook? Yep, the super starlet tells VH1 that she’s a master in the kitchen when it comes to cooking ramen noodles. She even called herself an “expert.”
We’re going to assume she’s not referring to the packaged stuff we ate every day in college, because surely our precious RiRi can do more than just add hot water and a flavor packet to a bowl of dried noodles. She probably spends all day brewing vegetable stock and hand-rolling the ramen before preparing the dish with a whole lotta love. I mean, this is Rihanna we’re talking about here. She’s perfect at everything! Clip below.
Lady Gaga and Rihanna each gave eccentric, visually captivating performances at last night’s American Music Awards. Gaga donned nude undergarments, fishnets, and an Alien-esque light-up skeleton. During her performance she gyrated, smashed glass, set a piano on fire, and broke bottles, all while delivering stellar vocals on “Bad Romance” and “Speechless.” Rihanna made one helluva comeback in a white-banded bodysuit with a laser-emitting bolero, and a “Rated R” chest tattoo. Whose performance was more stylistically shocking? [Photos: Getty Images]
Say what you will about “Louboutins,” but Jennifer Lopez definitely reaffirmed her Fly Girl status at the American Music Awards last night. Sure, J. Lo. fell on her ass after climbing a staircase made of shirtless men. But thanks to a quick leap to her feet, Lopez turned what could have been a major embarrassment to a blink-and-you-missed it lol. Then again, thanks to the internet, there’s not much difference.
Among those performing alongside Lopez and oral-sex mimer Adam Lambert were fellow drama queens Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Shakira (making impressive work of those truthful hips). See their red carpet fashions and more in the gallery below.
