Red Carpet Report: The 2011 AmfAR Inspiration Gala

The AmFar Inspiration Gallery took place last night at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the red carpet was a mixed bag. Courtney Love showed up, obviously, looking like a train wreck. How does she end up everywhere? Designers Michael Kors (who won the amfAR Award of Courage) and Kenneth Cole posed with a stunning Heidi Klum. James Franco suited up to receive his amfAR Award of Inspiration, while a teeny-waisted Jennifer Hudson performed. Ke$ha showed up looking drunk as usual and wearing an Abed Mahfouz gown that looked not exactly right on her. Add a clutch of models like Alek Wek and Chanel Iman and a totally incredible Rufus Wainwright, and voila! — successful event, check. To check out the rest of the arrivals action, take a look at our gallery below.

Rufus Wainwright On 50 Cent: “I Know He’s Gay”

Rufus Wainwright & 50 Cent

Usually the only artists who would try to gay-bait 50 Cent are hip-hop rivals like Rick Ross and The Game, but Canadian crooner Rufus Wainwright, best known for recreating Judy Garland performances in full, used an interview with Details to make a pass at the rapper. “I think he’s just the sexiest, and a brilliant writer. And I know he’s gay…[it's] that cute little voice of his. It’s okay, 50 Cent. Feel free to call me anytime. My boyfriend and I are experts. You can come over for dinner. And maybe dessert.” Ok, now that Rick Ross wouldn’t say.

While Wainwright isn’t the first person to notice homoerotic subtext in his work (link NSFW), this is certainly the most high profile suggestion of such outside of a battle-rap. We certainly aren’t making any intimations about a secret life ourselves (50 did dream of impregnating Beyonce and father a child with a woman he later kicked of his house), but we will note that he’s not afraid to hawk moisturizers for men, admit to a “girly” workout and open the video for G-Unit’s “Rider pt. 2″ by storming through an army barrack with a tilted hat, releasing a cartoonish growl before sighing “woah woah woah woah-woah-woah” and threatening to “approach ya boy” with a “toaster.” Ponder the possibilities with our 50 Cent gallery below (yes, that’s him with Bette Midler) and watch the “Rider” clip after the jump.
