Sir Philip Green has proved himself an astute operator by teaming up with Kate Moss, but could his new BFF (that’s Best Fashion Friend) be Whitney Houston? The rehabbed singer had previewed her comeback album a couple of nights ago at a select soiree in Knightsbridge, and Phil was so dazzled he gave her the keys to the flagship London store out of hours. We want!
“Whitney grabbed bags and bags of stuff, but only chose one item of clothing for herself. She was overheard saying her 16-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina likes Topshop, so chose everything for her – except for a Union Jack cardigan which she chose for herself. Whitney looked ecstatic, and happily posed with staff for pictures and signed autographs for them,” says a source.
Aw, that’s kind of cute. At last a middle-aged celebrity who doesn’t plan to dress half her age! The Whitney comeback starts here …
Yikes! Jessica Alba normally looks like she has the sort of deft stylish touch that’s made Kate Moss into an icon (see above for her past fashion hits), but we’re really not sure what she’s trying to do here. Aside from the ill-advised love-in with a bottle of peroxide (although we’re hoping that’s for a role) the knee-length dress looks like something our moms would have made us wear to look “smart” at a family gathering when we were 13, and the shoes also scream “sensible!” And once we’ve gathered ourselves, we’re then assaulted by the terrible, terrible wrongness of her scallop-edged shiny leather jacket. It’s so sad seeing a beautiful woman in bad clothes… [Photos: Splash News Online]
Despite being over the hump of her 35th birthday, Kate Moss has refused to relinquish her crown of being London, nay, the world’s most committed party lady. Nearly 20 years of model fame hasn’t dimmed the clotheshorse’s passion for a free bar and a chance to get snapped outside sucking on a cigarette. It’s admirable, but has so far not allowed us to peruse further into the makings of La Moss and whether there is anything more there than a set of killer cheekbones and effortless style.
But now it seems that Kate has hidden depths. First, she’s been heralded as a top counselor to Jo Wood, who was left heartbroken last summer when her Rolling Stone husband Ronnie left her for an 18-year-old cocktail waitress. “It was my friends and family who surrounded me and got me through. Kate gave me great advice … ‘Just put on a fabulous dress, get out there and party’,” explained Jo.
What’s more, canny Kate is now set to team up with overlords/business titans Sir Philip Green and Simon Cowell. She’s been offered the plum job of Director of Style and Image at their new mega-entertainment company — and if she takes it up, could see her fortune swell to an estimated $16 million. Not bad for a girl once famous for sitting topless with Marky Mark… [Photo: Splash News Online]
Oooh! Oooh! Another strategically-worn ring alert! Days after Britney Spears played a guessing game with the paps by wearing, and then not wearing, a ring on her engagement finger, Kate Moss has got us all gossiping too. The supermodel, who was a notable absentee from Glastonbury this year, was snapped out in Paris on Tuesday with boyfriend Jamie Hince wearing a massive sparkler (click here to see the snaps).
Frustratingly, Kate kept her ring finger hidden from view last night when she stepped out in London to support her friend, Gossip singer Beth Ditto‘s new plus-size range for British fashion store Evans. Damn you, Moss! We’d quite like to expect the most stylish wedding of the decade… [Photo: WireImage]
In news we’re not sure whether to be impressed or terrified by (we suspect both), music mogul Simon Cowell has teamed up with longtime friend and retail giant Sir Philip Green (pictured at right) to create a new uber-powerful entertainment company. The TV judge will set up the company with Kate Moss‘s Topshop boss — who’s Britain’s 9th richest person — to ensure he owns the rights of all the entertainment shows he’s involved with, from American Idol to Britain’s Got Talent and the X-Factor.
“They are talking about making profits running into billions as opposed to millions from their joint venture … they’re thinking in terms of a new Disney. What they’re planning is that big,” said a source close to the hairy-chested pair. Gulp. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Loads of top celebs attended the Hoping’s Got Talent charity evening at London’s Cafe de Paris last night in aid of Palestinian refugee children. And judging by the looks on the faces of Sienna Miller, Lily Allen and Kate Moss as they departed last night, they had a really good time. Happy hangover day, ladies! [Photos: , Splash News Online]
Despite their celebrity status, stars are no more immune to style blunders than you and I. Whether it may be a planned disclosure or an accidental mishap, butt cleavage is a common mistake.
Kate Moss is finally going to open up and speak at length about her scandalous life. The notoriously silent-with-the-press supermodel has signed a deal with Virgin Books to pen her autobiography, and this prospect has us salivating in excitement. Johnny Depp! The Primrose Hill set scandals! The Pete Doherty drug years! Going to rehab! Johnny Depp (again)!
But apparently, it’s not going to be a warts-and-all confession, just something to “set the record straight, but not betray any trust,” says Grazia mag. Boo. Still, Kate’s had enough drama in her life to make any book about her a must-read. She’s already cancelled one book deal a few years back, so we’re keeping fingers crossed she doesn’t change her mind. [Photo: Splash News Online]
No, seriously, have you? I could have sworn I left him here… Apparently, Jamie Hince has gone AWOL. The Kills guitarist is currently on tour in Canada and bandmate Alison Mosshart has posted a plea on her Facebook page after not seeing him since Wednesday. Kate Moss‘s boyfriend went for a walk after a gig that saw him haul a fan onstage who had been abusive in the audience. [Photo: FilmMagic]
We’ve already exposed the Costume Gala’s worst-dressed celebs. But for every fashion misfire at this glamour fest, dozens of stunning outfits created by the world’s best designers adorned the stunning bodies of the world’s most famous people. This year’s theme was “The Model as Muse.” So it should come as no surprise that skin was on display in abundance. From open-backed gowns (Kate Moss, Ciara) to high hems (Gisele, Rachel Bilson) to semi-bare midriffs (Claudia Schiffer, Eva Longoria Parker), the gala was an orgy of flawless flesh. Check the pics.
