Love is a battlefield, and 2012 was not immune the heart’s harsh ways. Celebrity relationships had a tough go at things this year and saw a record number of sad splits (Amy Poehler and Will Arnett), shocking divorces (Heidi Klum and Seal) and close-call almost breakups (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson). But 2012 also saw a few reconciliations (Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez), giving us hope for 2013. Browse through our gallery of the 20 biggest breakups of 2012 and tell us which split was the most devastating to watch.
Diddy, Blake Lively, Olivia Wilde And More Turn Up For 121212 Benefit Concert

We’ve already seen Kristen Stewart doing her thing and speaking on stage to support 121212, a concert benefiting the Robin Hood Relief Fund to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City yesterday. But she wasn’t the only celebrity who turned up to lend their voices. Like Blake Lively, who looked lovely in an orange Isabel Marant dress with caged Christian Louboutin ankle booties and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Diddy was there too, as was Olivia Wilde, who wore skinny jeans and an awesome pair of red studded pumps. We’re guessing those are Louboutins too.

Katie Holmes showed up in head-to-toe Tom Ford in a pretty interesting cut-velvet, electric violet dress. Susan Sarandon was age-defying as usual, in all black, with a snazzy fitted zippered jacket. Martha Stewart even wore leather pants! Zosia Mamet puzzles us. She’s one of our favorite characters on Girls and seems hysterically funny but is always so taciturn in photographs. Like, this is a great cause … lighten up and smile a little! It’s okay that your pants don’t fit and your shirt’s making us drowsy. Chelsea Clinton was on the other side of the spectrum, looking polished and with a smile that didn’t leave her face, just like Gina Gershon, only the latter stuck to her usual rock chic and bedhead. She does work it, though! Read more…
Keri Russell’s The Americans Makes Us Wish These 5 Other Former Teen Stars Would Turn TV Spies

Former TV teens we love: Keri Russell, Kristen Bell, Katie Holmes, Alexis Bledel, Linda Cardellini and Neve Campbell
Now that we’ve seen how much potential Keri Russell’s upcoming FX series, The Americans, has — thanks to a trailer posted last week and an eerie scene up on Buzzfeed this morning — we are crossing our fingers that she is part of a trend. With former My So Called Life star Claire Danes busting terrorists on Homeland, and Felicity alum Russell working as a Soviet spy living deeply undercover on this new show, the way has been paved for other former TV teens to make huge comebacks in dramas of their own.
Kristen Bell’s been making a career of quirky romantic comedies, but now that she’s expecting her first child, we can imagine her going back to her Veronica Mars roots and settling down into another sassy detective role. (It doesn’t have to be the long-promised grown-up version of VM, but pretty please, TV gods, can it be?) We got all excited for Alexis Bledel’s small guest stint on Mad Men — could the Gilmore Girl have been testing waters for a bigger part on the small screen? Seeing that Vanity Fair Freaks and Geeks reunion made us eager to see more of Linda Cardellini. And though Neve Campbell and Katie Holmes probably got their fill of soapy angst on Party of Five and Dawson’s Creek, we think they could thrive in good procedural mysteries or the like.
What kinds of TV shows would you pick for these ladies? Flip through photos of them in their memorable roles and today, and then share your ideas in the comments below!

Katie Holmes Has An Idea For A Dawson’s Creek Reunion; We Have A Better One
Every time we’ve talked about a Dawson’s Creek reunion, we’ve been so feverishly gung-ho about it that we kind of forgot a key obstacle to bringing the gang back together: Jen Lindley’s series-finale death from pulmonary congestion. I mean, Michelle Williams has actually brought it up in interviews before, but we ignored that minor detail until Katie Holmes brought it up again last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
“I love everyone from the show,” she said. “We have kind of talked about it here and there, but we’re like, ‘What do you do?’ Because our last episode, Michelle’s character passed away.”
Fallon was having none of that excuse, saying, “She comes back as a ghost! Problem solved.”

Katie also seemed to feel like the fact that the finale had already fast-forwarded five years made any kind of reunion plot redundant. Because we all know everyone’s lives become completely settled in their 20s and there is no more drama after that. We do kind of like her solution, though: “But maybe we’ll go on vacation. That would be fun.”
Vacation with Jen’s ghost? Could work. Personally, I think they could do better: Hire some soap opera writers who’d reveal that Jen faked her death to escape a stalker, maybe. Forget that finale ever happened. Write it off as a dream sequence. Better yet, turn the whole thing into a zombie/vampire/witch story — hey, this is a Kevin Williamson show, after all!
Vogue? SNL? Anne Hathaway Celebrates Turning 30 In Style, We Celebrate With Her 30 Hottest Looks!

Anne Hathaway had a pretty busy pre- birthday weekend! The winner of the coveted “sexiest hair” award tore it up on Saturday Night Live, stealing the show away from Rihanna (we think!) with hilarious impressions of Katie Holmes and Claire Danes. She even nails the Homeland star’s meme-erific cry-face. Not to be outdone with Riri’s stellar musical guest spot, the multi-talented Anne even treated the audience to a (not-so) heartfelt rendition of “One Day More,” from her upcoming turn in Les Miserables.
And that’s not all! Anne’s steamy Vogue cover dropped today, too! Inside she opens up about her new look courtesy of her Les Miz experience. She famously went method on us for a while, losing a ton of weight (25 pounds!) for her role as the impoverished Fantine. “I had to be obsessive about it. The idea was to look near death,” she told the magazine. “Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.” She also talked about her life as a newly wed, having tied the knot with Adam Shulman last month.
So lots to celebrate if you happen to be Anne Hathaway, and to top it all off she turns 30 years old today! So in honor of her big day, we’ve assembled 30 of her best looks from over the years. Enjoy!

Katie Holmes And Suri Cruise Demonstrate The Awkward Dangers Of Halloween

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise were out for dinner at NYC’s Mr. Chow on Saturday night, when they encountered the most awkward of situations, per the New York Post: Three people were seated next to them wearing a “Free Katie” shirt, a “Save Suri” shirt and a Top Gun-era Tom Cruise costume. An onlooker said that Katie didn’t “lose her cool” and the T-shirt wearers covered up their clever slogans before Suri could see.
Let this serve as a warning for all of you clever revelers tomorrow night — and we ourselves are included, as we’ve been fully advocating celebrity costumes since last week — you might want to avoid star-frequented hot spots in L.A. and New York (assuming any are up and running tomorrow), if you plan on spoofing someone famous. Option 2: Embrace the awkwardness, pose for a photo with the celeb in question and SEND IT TO US!

From Friends‘ Spud-nik To PLL’s Vampy Adam Lambert: TV’s Best Halloween Costumes

Halloween means candy corn, haunted houses, and your dad wearing that musty vampire outfit yet again. But it also means Halloween specials on TV! Throughout the years, the small screen has captured the fun of dressing up for the holidays. It’s a time for our favorite characters to get creative and just a tad inappropriate as they sport costumes from the topical, the slutty, or other clever ideas that perfectly reflect their own personalities. Here’s a list of some of our favorite Halloween costumes from TV over the years that may give you some inspiration of what to do…and what not to do.
Best Mystery Costume – The Slutty Pumpkin (How I Met Your Mother): It was that crisp, autumnal night on Halloween when Ted Mosby thought he met the love of his life…in a costume that has become the show’s famed “Slutty Pumpkin.” Though her face was veiled, this mystery woman became the object of Ted’s harvest-filled fantasies. Many years later, we discovered that the woman was none other than Katie Holmes! Even though the costume doesn’t have much originality, we give them props for mocking the “slutty fill-in-the-blank” outfit.

Katie Holmes And Tom Cruise Were Over 6 Months Before Divorce: Report

As we watch Katie Holmes, Suri Cruise and Tom Cruise pick up and continue their lives following the divorce that rocked the celebrity world this summer, we’re still rather curious about what went down between TomKat to inspire such a rapid split. But contrary to early reports that Katie totally took Tom by surprise when she filed for divorce, court papers reportedly obtained by The National Enquirer, via Radar, things were over long before June 28. Their relationship had “broken down irretrievably for a period of at least six months immediately preceding,” the papers say. Or maybe Katie said they had, but Tom was oblivious? Or hopeful that things could work out? Very interesting.
These alleged court documents reveal a couple of other interesting tidbits:
