Pastel Palettes Are A Big Trend On The Golden Globes Red Carpet

Pastel And White Trend At 2013 Golden Globes

While goth was a major trend at the Golden Globes last night, another major direction that the fashion was inclined towards was the diametrically opposite — pastels. Shimmering nudes, pretty neutrals, and creamy white were all spotted on stars providing a wonderful foil to the ever-prevelant black. Leading this brigade was Amy Adams in a romantic nude Marchesa gown with a tulle fishtail complete with Tiffany & Co. jewelery. Isla Fisher also chose a nude palette but sparkled thanks to beaded embroidery that was sewn all over her love Reem Acra gown. Amanda Seyfried was another highlight in a shell, flowing, lace-panelled Givenchy Couture custom-made gown which had us sold. Megan Fox nailed it, as well, in a blush-colored, strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress with Jimmy Choo shoes, Lorraine Schwartz jewelery and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch. Bringing in the sexy were, who else, but Jennifer Lopez and Lea Michele. J.Lo worked it like a pro, pouring her curves in a nude Zuhair Murad long-sleeved gown covered in ivory lace overlay. Lea went her regular route by showing off some leg, but still looked quite lovely in a white, halter-necked, textured Elie Saab gown and bag paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Giambattista Valli heels. Heidi Klum also showed off some major stems in a one-shouldered white Alexandre Vauthier gown with gold, embellished trim.

Adding little washes of pastel color were Kelly Osbourne and Nicole Richie. Kelly chose a mint green, fishtail Zac Posen gown that somehow, ended up working with her lavender hair. She buffed up her outfit with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, a Judith Leiber bag and Jacob & Co jewels. Nicole, on the other hand, was elegant in an vintage-looking, old-Hollywood inspired, pale blue and white Naeem Khan gown. She even worked in pale blue eyeshadow — how’s that for retro? Check out all our looks compiled in the gallery below and tell us who got the thumbs-up.

Zooey Deschanel, Kelly Osbourne Bring Their Nail Game To The Golden Globes Red Carpet

Golden Globes Nails

Like we would expect anything less. Zooey Deschanel started the Golden Globes red carpet off right with an adorable film strip mani. “#GoldenGlobes manicure! Movie camera and film strip. By @redcarpetmen,” the New Girl star gushed on Twitter. Also tweeting the deets about her next level nail game is Kelly Osbourne. “Nice new nails!!!!,” the E! correspondent posted on Twitter. We normally wince at a supersharp nail, but come on. They are golden hearts she’s wearing with a pale green dress. We aren’t made of stone.

Nicole Richie also paired a set of dark gray talons with her ice blue dress, while Julianne Hough topped off her gold-studded gown with a gold-tipped burgundy mani. We’ll be adding more nail looks through the night, so come back and peep the celeb nail game!

The Big Girls Attend The Baby2Baby Gala: Nicole Richie, Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe Shine

Celebrities At The Baby2Baby Gala

Sometimes certain events tend to surprise us because they’re low-flying on the radar, but end up being so highly attended that we have to sit up and take notice. That’s what happened with the Baby2Baby Gala on Saturday at the Book Bindery in Culver City, California. It’s a great cause providing families in need with baby-care products and essentials. A lot of very stylish moms showed up in support. We found Jessica Alba breathtaking in a shell, frothy Valentino Resort 2013 confection with a Roger Vivier clutch and Harry Winston jewels. Nicole Richie picked a similar color scheme opting for a gorgeous 1920′s inspired Lorena Sarbu Fall 2012 nude gown with an Art Decod pattern, with side-swept retro hair. Rachel Zoe also rocked it in a white goddess gown with black piping. Think it was her own design?

Baby2Baby Gala

Another favourite was Julie Bowen‘s purple sequined Naeem Khan caftan accesorized with a Jimmy Choo tube clutch. Others that looked good, but not great, like the ladies mentioned so far, were Ali Larter (who should have nixed the leopard belt), Molly Sims (too drab in black, as was Rebecca Gayheart) and Busy Philipps whose dress was lovely but her brown clutch and turquoise jewelry ruined it for us. Mindy Kaling did work her Max Mara pale pink crepe gown even though the fitting was a little off! Read more…

Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera, Kat De Luna And Co. Ensure Black Gowns Tank At The ALMA’s

Black Gowns At The ALMA Awards

While our best-dressed at the ALMA Awards list was surprising, the not-so-best dressed list also has some unexpected entries. And what all of them had in common was that all of them messed up wearing, what normally is our favorite shade, black. Nicole Richie has no business being anything but fabulously attired. We get what she was going for in this black, semi-sheer Mathieu Mirano dress with gold accents — haute couture, edgy. Unfortunately, the black and gold texturing on the front of the dress looks like it’s eating her alive. Love the makeup and hair, though! Naya Rivera‘s Dolce & Gabbana pant suit would have been good idea if she has paid attention to the fit. Are we feeling the raccoon eyes too? Not too sure about that. Maybe with different hair. Then there was Christina Aguilera, and we will defend her against anyone who says anything about her weight. Stop hating on her curves. We’re not feeling her styling, that’s all. The peroxide hair with the the purple tips. The caked makeup that looks about two inches thick. The way OTT heels. She would have worked that black Michael Kors gown with the sexy lacy cutouts had she pared back everything else. Kat Deluna, on the other had should have picked a better dress, and a better makeup artist to do her justice. That gown with the ruffled slit does not work. Nor does co-host of the evening, Eva Longoria‘s, who should have stuck with the Monique Lhuillier gown she wore upon arrival. What’s up with those patterned sheer swirly’s on the lower half of the gown? And while we’re at it, what’s up with Roselyn Sanchez‘s crazy bun?  Click through the gallery to find out what we’re talking about.

The Cleavage Danger Zone: Nicole Richie Vs. Kim Kardashian

Nicole Richie, Style Awards, Kim Kardashian, DuJour Launch

Ahem. Was something in the water yesterday? We did not expect Nicole Richie to show off that much skin at the the 9th Annual Style Awards  that took place last night in New York City. That very risque dress is by Anthony Vaccarello, who’s known to snip and slash his frocks into sexy smithereens. That sentence did not start off as an alliteration, we promise. Costume National shoes, an Edie Parker clutch and Neil Lane jewelry finished off the look, although the skull studs she has on are by her own brand — House of Harlow. Is it weird that we we think that Nicole kind of pulls this off? That plunging neckline with all the cut-out bits on the bodice would have looked trashy on anyone else, but Nicole does look somewhat … classy? You know what we’re saying. She doesn’t even look down-market.

Rivaling her in the cleavage stakes, is Kim Kardashian. The outfit doesn’t surprise us because we’re used to Kim squeezing into all sorts of things. She attended the the DuJour Magazine Launch Party hosted by Jason Binn, Christy Turlington Burns and Bruce Weber, also in New York, wearing the dress you see on the right. Yes, the one that’s cut-out and backless to the point where we’re going to call it — and we never thought we’d ever type these words — a boob harness. Seriously, how is she breathing in that? What’s stopping her from falling out completely? A prayer? Nicole’s bodice looks almost as risky, come to think of it, even though Kim’s is more … threadbare, in our opinion. Who’s in more danger of a major wardrobe malfunction here? Let us know!

25 Pictures Of Beyonce, Willow Smith, Elizabeth Banks And More Embracing The Summer Brights Trend

25 Pictures Of 2012 Summer Brights Trend

If there’s one trend we’ve been spotting taking over red carpets in 2012 alone, it’s been the juicy summer brights look. We’ve been happy to see every shade of orange and yellow seep onto a variety of silhouettes over the year, from the very start of January. The Oscars, the Met Ball, the Golden Globes and the big premieres — hello, The Hunger Games — all had these shades represented by actresses who are not afraid to embrace the bright side. The Met Ball alone really took care of this huge trend with a number of actresses choosing orange like Kristen Bell and Emma Roberts. Solange Knowles and January Jones really took care of the yellow spectrum. Some celebrities have been more courageous than others, wearing brights on numerous occasions. Like, Viola Davis, Nicole Richie and Elizabeth Banks. Each of those lovely ladies is represented in our exhaustive gallery of 25 pictures below. This collection comprises our favorite looks — all worn this year, from January onwards — which are all either orange or yellow, keeping the trend in mind. You’ll also see where exactly they were worn, in case you want to do a little digging on your own. Knock yourselves out on these punchy shades and tell us whose design you liked best!

Hairy Updates: Jewel Goes Brunette, Kelly Clarkson Goes Blond And Nicole Richie Goes Pink

jewel as june carter, kelly clarkson dyes hair blond

Nothing like a little hair experimentation to completely change your look. Three super famous ladies decided to shake things up in that department this week. First up we have the awesome Kelly Clarkson who was spotted running around London yesterday with a freshly blond ‘do with bangs, that you can see in the picture above and on the right. Do we like it on her? Yes, we do! The length of the haircut is great too and really suits her. On the left, we have Jewel who tweeted a photograph of her transformation into June Carter, who she is going to portray in a Lifetime biopic called The June Carter Cash Story. The film is going to be based on John Carter Cash‘s memoir “Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash.” The singer’s message read, “Here I am as June in my trailer with her blue eyes and perfect teeth …” You have to admit she looks totally different and we’re hoping she sticks around as a brunette for a while.

Nicole Richie pink hair

While Kelly and Jewel’s color changes really shakes things up for them, they’re still kind of standard shades. Nicole Richie‘s new dye job is far more punk! She posted the image you can see above on the left, on her website, with a simple message that read, “Tickled Pink!” So different especially when compared to her regular honey-blond (on the right.) But if anyone can pull it off, it’s Nicole! We’re wondering is she’s going to keep the pink tips or try out something new again.

Nicole Richie, Jessica Stam And Michelle Monaghan Are Best-Dressed At The Fifi Awards

Best-Dressed Fifi awards

The Fifi Awards, a.k.a. the Oscars of the fragrance world, are a pretty big deal. The 40th annual round of the ceremony took place in New York last night with a smattering of celebrities in attendance. Out of these, Nicole Richie nailed it the most, as usual. Here’s how much we love her personal style — we normally can’t stand mullet dresses. They give us hives. But this Emilio Pucci black semi-sheer number, along with her retro up-do, has made converts out of us. Nicole looks hot, and she knows it!

Next up, there’s Jessica Stam. In theory, we know it’s hard to make a supermodel look bad, but we’ve seen too many disasters to know that’s not actually true. But Jessica in this lovely, knee-length, cap-sleeved dress is demure and and as far away from a disaster as can possibly be. We love the hint of silver beading and draping across the neckline. Rounding up the trio of best-dressed ladies was Michelle Monaghan, who went the minimal route, as opposed to Jessica’s elegance and Nicole’s retro drama. She poured herself in to a sexy, simple, navy-blue gown with cut-outs. The makeup was kept to a bare minimum, her hair was pulled back and she had a touch of gold on through her accessories. Three different looks, three definite wins.
