Tom Cruise will always be one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Like it or not, but no amount of Scientology talk can take away the success of films like Top Gun or the Mission Impossible franchise. Even his memorable behavior on the Oprah Winfrey Show has only strengthened his status as a pop culture touchstone in recent years. (Example: When someone becomes overzealous about a new love, or tries to sell a relationship too hard, they are obviously Cruise-in’ it.) But that was in 2005. Cruise had no regrets about his jumping on the queen of media’s television couch then, and he probably doesn’t now… right?
It’s no secret that when you’re rich and famous, everything you own is fabulous — especially real estate. And whether it’s a private island, vineyard or historic home, celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, George Clooney and Oprah Winfrey know how to put our modest beach bungalows to shame with their breathtaking spreads.
Looks like Oprah Winfrey is not returning Lindsay Lohan‘s calls. And for good reason: Lindsay, the docu-reality series on OWN, is tanking. It looks like no one wants to watch the actress recover. It’s a sad world indeed when Oprah is distancing herself from you. Read more…
The Gossip Table is back! Amanda Bynes tests the waters on Twitter, and we wonder if there will be a sequel to Fifty Shades Of Grey.
The 86th Academy Awards marked a historic night for black filmmakers at the Oscars. It’s the first time a black film – 12 Years a Slave — won best picture; the Academy’s most prestigious award.
Every year, there are always one or two Oscars snubs (and upsets) that really hurt. In years past, it was Argo‘s Ben Affleck not getting nominated for Best Director, Sidney Poitier for In the Heat of the Night, or Jimmy Stewart’s emotional turn in Vertigo. This year, it was Oprah Winfrey‘s riveting performance in Lee Daniels’ The Butler. Say what you will about the film, but there was no discounting Winfrey’s turn as Gloria Gaines. She carried the film but, sadly, could not do enough to earn the movie a single nomination at this year’s Academy Awards.
But that’s where we come in. With Oprah out for The Butler, we decided to recast her in several of this year’s Oscar-nominated films. Damn the Academy! If they don’t want to recognize her for that role, then we’ll put in everything and see if they can get away with it. Because let’s face it: Every movie is made better with Oprah in it.
Hellooooo New York Cityyyyy! Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey is reportedly close to coming to the Great White Way, while the Pitch Perfect sequel just got a lot cooler.
If there’s one network that has become a huge guilty pleasure, it’s Lifetime. The network continues to make movie safter movies that are must-see events. This weekend is no different with Christina Ricci starring in Lifetime’s version of Lizzie Borden, a woman accused and acquitted of the ax murders of her father and stepmother. Lizzie Borden Took an Ax has all the elements that make for a good Lifetime flick: drama, murder, brooding men, inappropriate relationships, mystery and intrigue. That’s what makes it such a perfect celebrity biopic. Like Anna Nicole Smith (Anna Nicole) and Elizabeth Taylor (Liz & Dick) before her, Lizzie joins a long list of celebs who got the Lifetime treatment. However, there are so many more that we want made!
Melissa McCarthy will keep the laughs coming during Super Bowl weekend, we get more photos from the Fifty Shades Of Grey set, and we wonder who would be Jared Leto‘s other half in a celebrity power couple.
