As more cold weather brought parts of the country to a standstill, plenty of people were bundling up and leaving little clues to what they were wearing underneath their huge outerwear. But of course, celebrities proved that they’re a special breed who don’t need to hide their outfits, even in the face of winter weather. However, we couldn’t but wish that some of them had willingly chosen to cover up.
Oh, girl fights… The phrase itself can conjure images of scantily clad models slapping at each other for sexually exploitive purposes, which is unfair and misleading. For instance, in Fast and Furious 6, Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez get to fight each other with insane ferocity that rivals any of the fight scenes that co-stars The Rock and Vin Diesel find themselves in. Pam Grier made her career in the 70s showing up in movies to beat people up. And let’s not forget the Kill Bill films, which are pretty much a collection of brutal battle scenes between women.
Is it just us or does everyone think that Uma Thurman would be a totally kickass mom? Yes, we know that’s reel and real life getting their wires crossed, but can’t help it! We were so happy for Uma when she gave birth to her third child — a daughter — three months ago. The actress already has two children with ex-husband, Ethan Hawke, named Maya (13) and Levon (10.) Baby no. three is with fiancee, Arpad Busson, and came as an absolute surprise, apparently, as US Weekly then reported that, “Uma was definitely not planning on having another kid. It was a surprise, but she’s over the moon about it, very excited.” Uma is also step-mom to Arpads’s two kids with his famous ex, supermodel, Elle MacPherson. Talk about cross-pollination, Hollywood style! Anywhoo, it’s been three months and we haven’t heard any updates about their new baby girl and we’ve been curious about her name. Let’s just say that the wait has been worth it. Really, really worth it. Their daughter’s full, badass name is … take a deep breath … Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson. This isn’t a joke. That’s really her name, as confirmed by Uma’s spokesperson who has said, “I would like to announce Uma and Arki’s daughter’s name for the first time officially:, better known to family and friends as Luna. Each name has a special reason and meaning to her mother and father.” We’re just going to say it: there’s no way in hell any of the parents or their kid is going to remember that. That is one … special name.

As we were putting together this post, we learned that Robert Pattinson landed a supporting role opposite Carey Mulligan in Hold On to Me, a movie about a femme fatale who kidnaps the town’s richest man. This sounds like a kind of dramatic (or maybe darkly comic) movie. But after looking long and hard at the photos from last night’s Elle Women in Hollywood party, where RPattz introduced honoree Uma Thurman, his Bel Ami co-star, we’re wondering when his big comedy break is going to come. He never gets to put these goofy faces to good use onscreen!
You can watch his adorable, self-deprecating speech about Uma here, but you might have more fun browsing through the gallery below. We can’t imagine how intimidating it must be to introduce Mrs. Mia Wallace to a crowd of A-listers, so we captioned Rob’s faces with the kind of lame comedy routine we’d imagine giving if it were our job. Maybe you have something better? Share your captions in the comments below!

One black and one white have already landed on the worst-dressed list at the Elle Women In Hollywood party, thanks to Lea Michele and Julianne Hough. The rest of the monochromatic bunch did alright for themselves, thankfully. Emma Watson played it super safe, perhaps because she was picking up the Calvin Klein Collection Emerging Star Spotlight Award. We’re assuming she’s wearing Calvin Klein! Elle Fanning shook things up as she usually does — we can’t believe we actually said that about a 14 year-old, but it’s true — in an edgy Calvin Klein dress and Dolce & Gabbana shoes and bag. Not many people could carry of that length, but Elle ends up looking coltish and youthful and pulls it off like a pro. We also can’t believe we’re saying this about a 12 year-old but we should get used to it because our favorite Kiernan Shipka is a sartorial star and didn’t disappoint at all in a gorgeous, age-appropriate Moschino dress. Is it wrong to want a 12 year-old’s wardrobe? We can’t help it — she always looks so wonderful!
We don’t want to rag on Uma Thurman because she just had a baby recently, so we won’t say much. But what we will say is that half-sheer skirts and lank hair don’t work on anyone. They wouldn’t even work on Jaime King, who is gorgeous and blessed with a body that comes around once every century or something. Luckily she went minimal and safe, like Emma, in pure white. We also think that Jenna Fischer‘s Basler dress, Cole Haan shoes and Lauren Merkin bag would have pulled together beautifully if she did something more exciting to her hair and face. A red lip wouldn’t kill her, right?

The kick-assest baby girl has officially arrived. Uma Thurman gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday. She is the third child for the 42-year-old Oscar nominee, who has two children – Maya, 13, and Levon, 10 – with ex-husband Ethan Hawke. But this is her first child with financier boyfriend, Arpad Busson. How exciting!
Uma and Busson actually called off their engagement in 2009, but reunited last year. Back in February when the news first broke of Thurman’s pregnancy, Us Weekly reported that “Uma was definitely not planning on having another kid. It was a surprise, but she’s over the moon about it, very excited.” Well, good ’cause we’re excited too.
Yesterday, Us updated that the Kill Bill star and her little bundle of adorable badass-ness are healthy and doing well.
We absolutely love Uma in this recurring role as mom bringing some tough chicks into the world!

Grab your stereotypical sombrero everybody, it’s Cinco de Mayo! In the American tradition of commercializing obscure holidays that have very little to do with their actual countries of origin, today’s festivities must include a street dance with a mariachi band, many tequila shots and some probably inauthentic Mexican food. How else to commemorate a minor victory over French invaders? Well, we’d also like to celebrate some of the other things our neighbors south of the border have given to the world, say for instance, a number of Hollywood’s hottest. Talented stars like Eva Longoria, Demi Lovato, and Mario Lopez are just a few of our favorite Mexican stars. While not all listed celebs are full-blood Mexican — and some on this list may surprise you — we like to think they all have a healthy dose of Latino pride. Take a break from your margarita blender and toast our 20 favorite celebs with Mexican roots. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We know that Uma Thurman isn’t just a carbon copy of the vengeful mom she played in Kill Bill. We’re just saying if she’s even 1/16 as protective as Beatrix Kiddo, the actress’s new bundle of joy is in safe hands. Safe yet deadly hands.
People confirmed today that the Bel Ami actress is expecting her third child; Baby Thurman will join tween siblings Maya and Levon from Thurman’s marriage to Ethan Hawke, which ended in 2004. Ethan also happened to welcome his own baby girl Indiana Hawke with wife Ryan this past August, though we can’t imagine his infant will be nearly as handy with a katana. Uma’s new baby will be her first with financier boyfriend Arpad Busson, who better be up for midnight diaper duty unless he wants to experience the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique. The choice is his to make, really.

We’ve always been huge fans of Uma Thurman. The tall, blond actress just brings that something extra and isn’t your typical cookie-cutter Hollywood pretty. So when we hear she’s on the cover of a magazine, we expect that certain je na sais quois she has to shine through. A face with that bone structure can’t photograph badly, right? Wrong. Here she is on the February cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK — one of the first of the crop of February magazine issues we’re expecting — and she looks … off. We can’t quite put our finger on what it is, but something about her face doesn’t look quite okay. Is it the nose or the mouth? Help us out here, and tell us what you think. Either way, we’re not happy.

What a charming name for a ball. The 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball took place at Cipriani’s, New York, and Sarah Jessica Parker really took it upon herself to dress accordingly, looking like a very convincing snowflake in a white silk, cut-work and feather trimmed Louis Vuitton dress — part of the same collection Kate Moss closed earlier this year. Looking at lot more slinky were Uma Thurman and Angie Harmon, who nailed it in a skintight green dress and a shimmery halter gown, respectively.
Other celebrities included couples like Kevin Jonas and wife Danielle (who also looked great in a red gown slit high up the thigh) and Mark Ruffalo with his delightfully named wife, Sunrise. Vera Farmiga, Zoe Kravitz and Natasha Bedingfield were also spotted, the latter two wearing color-blocked black and white. To check it all out, click through our gallery below.
