Romeo Beckham’s New Burberry Advertisement Brings Out The Hypocrisy Of Fashion
Romeo Beckham is clearly following in his very fashionable father and mother’s footsteps. It’s kind of par for the course when you have a parental unit comprising David and Victoria Beckham. And it goes without saying that is first modeling assignment — at the age of 10, FYI — would be a very prestigious one. Romeo’s the star of the new Burberry Spring 2013 advertisement which you can see above. And the kid’s got major swag. He looks great in the brand’s signature trench coat and we even give him props for popping its collar. Something we would have not done for any other human being. So, while he looks adorable, we’re going to have to admit that the campaign and the brand’s logic perplexes us. First up, we don’t get what they’re trying to portray here apart from Romeo looking adorable. Are the two adults on the side supposed to be mannequins? Are they metaphors for the traditional modes of modeling? Or is that too deep?
Secondly, and more importantly, this whole deal is a bit hypocritical, innit. Six years ago, Burberry’s head designer, Christopher Bailey was rumored to have been given a slap on the wrist for hanging with Victoria Beckham. Because, in another very past age, Victoria was considered to be the Queen of the WAGS and was viewed as too “chav” to be wearing the brand. This sort of news will never be explicitly confirmed because who will own up to something like that? But you know it was snooty enough to be true. But now that Vicky B’s transformation is complete and she’s become a High Priestess of Fashion, it’s all forgotten — by both the brand the parents. Tsk tsk.
Bonnie Wright Is The Latest Star To Chop Her Hair, Check Out 20 Others Who Went Short In 2012
Harry Potter starlet Bonnie Wright showed up at Jo Malone’s Thoroughly Proper Party in London on Wednesday lacking her long flowing locks. After years of being linked to her character Ginny Weasley with trademark titan tresses, maybe she followed in the footsteps of Emma Watson, who famously cropped her hair as soon as the series ended to get some distance from the franchise. Or she’s just hopping on the short hair band wagon!
It seems like ever A-lister has gotten the urge to hack of the hair this year. Some like Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Evangeline Lilly went super short for film roles, whereas former American Idol singer Kellie Pickler got a buzz to support her friend being treated for cancer. And then there are music mama’s like Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys who went short just for the hell of it. Fall Fashion Watch: The Top 10 Trends That Celebrities Are Wearing
It’s that time of the year again. The leaves are going to start turning soon. Wardrobes are too, to accommodate the changing seasonal trends. It’s a tricky path though, because there’s so much information out there. What we’ve done is gleaned the top 10 trends out of all the tomes of “what to wear” out there and put them on the list. More than anything, these are the 10 trends that our fashion-forward celebrities have been wearing out and about, on magazine covers, in campaigns and for various events and premieres.
1. Burgundy: The plum shade for fall. Anna Wintour put Lady Gaga on the cover of Vogue‘s September issue, so you know it’s a big one for the season.
2. Oversized Coats: Another massive trend this season, be certain that your coat is big enough so it looks voluminous and chic, but not big enough so that you look lost in. Make sure you’re wearing it, and it’s not wearing you. Ashley Olsen got it right on the subscriber cover of Elle UK!
3. Monochrome: This fall trend can be worn in many avatars. Celebrities like Rihanna, Chloe Sevigny and Victoria Beckham have channeled monochrome into different looks — funky, mod and classic. So can you.
4. Modern Country/ Americana: Taylor Swift‘s Vogue cover got this trend spot on. Oversized hats, chunky knits, tweeds have been revived into modern silhouettes. It’s the new nostalgia. Think lots of Rodarte!
5. Capes: When Gwyneth Paltrow wore that white Tom Ford cape and gown to the Academy Awards, there was a collective gasp of … something. The Beckhams Take Over Fashion Week, Little Harper Is The Breakout Star
Victoria Beckham‘s Spring Summer 2012 show at New York Fashion Week yesterday is a bona fide hit and pulling in rave reviews. She actually burst into emotional, but happy tears while taking a bow and backstage! Elle U.K. wrote, “After eight years building a small dress collection into an internationally significant brand, Victoria Beckham has a self-confidence that allowed her to move the signature aesthetic sharply on. There were flat shoes (conceived with the help of Manolo Blahnik, no less). There were men’s shoes! Hell, there [were] even trousers! But most of all, there was a sense of quiet assurance …” Harper’s Bazaar added, “It is clear Victoria Beckham understands what a woman wants but with this collection she is sure to gain new admirers.” The Los Angeles Times gushed, “A knockout. Beckham’s collection is really evolving, and it’s been impressive to watch her designing things that you wouldn’t necessarily imagine her wearing. The brand isn’t just about Beckham anymore, it’s about her customer.”
She must be over the moon. But even with all the hype surrounding her show, we think that all the fabulous clothes were overshadowed by her famous husband, David Beckham, and daughter, Harper Seven. OK, not overshadowed, per se, but you have to admit that David looks like magicsauce holding their gorgeous baby girl. Vogue‘s Fashion Night Out Draws In Celebrities On Both Coasts
Everyone looks forward to the grand retail extravaganza that is Vogue‘s Fashion Night Out. Held in approximately 19 countries across a week, the U.S — due to Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour‘s dictact — has their big night on the first day of Fashion Week. It’s a smart move because everyone’s in New York then, and those celebrities who don’t need to be there on day one, can enjoy FNO in L.A, the other fashion capital of the country. That’s both coasts taken care of! Hundreds of stores and designers providing special gifts with purchase and exclusive FNO merchandise, discounts and deals. NYC was swarming with stars yesterday for FNO special apperances. AnnaSophia Robb was Fekkai Mademoiselle, Nikki Reed and Kate Upton were at Michael Kors. Nikki looks super hot in a golden sequined dress, FYI. She was the best-dressed of the night! Kellan Lutz, Pharrell Williams and Matchbox 20 were at Bloomingdales. Allison Williams was at the DVF store, while Alexa Chung was at Moschino. Victoria Beckham and Kim Kardashian made the rounds too, of course. Kim’s little sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, and her mother Kris Jenner were at the Beverly Center in L.A. along with Lucy Hale and Kendra Wilkinson, as well. Jessica Alba Just One Of The Many Celebs We Wish Wouldn’t Go Blond
Jessica Alba, whyyyyyyyyy? We understand that actors don’t have any control over the hairstyles their characters wear, but Alba’s bleached blond Sin City 2 look is making our retinas detach. “She got roots that Nancy,” the actress tweeted about her character, along with a photo of her hair in an ombre in-between phase. Later Alba post another photo of her hair dyed completely blond, and it’s giving us fashion flashbacks to her peroxide locks in Valentine’s Day. If you’ve seen that movie, you know exactly what we’re talking about. Then, as in now, light blond not Jessica Alba’s best look, but she’s nowhere near the only celeb whose bleached hair makes her look washed out rather than glammed up. From Lindsay Lohan to Victoria Beckham, Emma Stone to Angelina Jolie, a lot of famous ladies know blond is not always a girl’s best friend. Sometimes it just looks bleached.

The Olympics Closing Ceremony: Who We Were Most Excited To See
SPICE UP YOUR LIFE! Sorry, guys. We really did get excited seeing the Spice Girls reunited while performing at the amazing spectacle that was the Olympics Closing Ceremony yesterday (or this morning, depends on what part of the world you’re in.) Especially went whizzing around in those cool, lit-up minis! And they weren’t the only ones we squeed at. The whole playlist of sorts had moments we were giddy about. How about Take That? We used to swoon over them back in the day, and seeing them together brought back all those memories. We only wish that Robbie Williams had joined them, but we’ll take what we can get. We got One Direction for the swooning-in-this-day-and-age, so we’re all good! George Michael busting out moves was awesome — did you sing Freedom out aloud too? And how about them supermodels, huh? All in glittering gold gowns. Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Stella Tennant, Karen Elson and the rest of the finest of the Brit fashion crop did make a huge impression.
We have to say that Fatboy Slim busting out Rockerfella Skank was a massive moment for us too. Acid house at the Olympics? Yes, please! And while we’re at it — what did you think of Russell Brand‘s performance? We love him, so we were more than happy to see him up there. More than anything, his inclusion showed just how much thought the organizers put into this ceremony. They tried to be together everything quintessentially British — fashion, comedians, music, dancing — and we think they totally succeeded. The Yummy Mummy Edition: Miranda Kerr, Victoria Beckham Help Their Tykes Walk
We’ve had babies on the brain since we posted our story on the cutest celebrity kiddie twitpics yesterday. And then we saw these pictures today and melted even further. Seriously, this is an epic level of cute going on. On the left, we have lissome mum, Miranda Kerr, looking as stunning as usual in a halter dress with a split skirt, holding her son , Flynn Bloom‘s hand. Little Flynn had accompanied Miranda to a photo shoot in New York and we bet he stole the limelight from his supermodel mother. How adorable is he in his little cap, striped shirt and shorts? Don’t miss the toddler “briefcase” either. On another note, we also want Miranda’s shoes, but we’ll settle for getting a cuddle from Flynn instead. On the right, we have little Harper Seven Beckham with her mum, Victoria Beckham, and both are matching in black. Coincidentally, Victoria’s also doing the whole split skirt thing, like Miranda. But all our attention is on Harper who looks unbelievably sweet. Caroline Kennedy, the managing director of Kennedy PR, tweeted this picture, writing, “There’s a very small girl called Harper in the house!” We think that Miranda and Victoria need to set up a playdate between their two kids immediately!

Katie Holmes’ Style Line Set To Drop At NY Fashion Week, Here’s 10 More Celebrity Designers
Katie Holmes is sticking to her passion for fashion through her very public divorce from Tom Cruise. So much so that a spokesperson from Holmes’ brand, Holmes & Yang, announced that they will be putting on a presentation during New York Fashion Week in September of this year. This is Holmes & Yang’s debut at New York Fashion Week and they will be showcasing their spring collection. It seems like more celebs than we can count have dabbled in the fashion industry along with being musical artists or actors. Gwen Stefani with her punk rock L.A.M.B line and of course Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with their high fashion design line, The Row. Justin Timberlake, Selena Gomez, Coco, and Victoria Beckham are also no strangers to the world of fashion.
