Earlier this week, we told you about how Miley Cyrus referred to her boyfriend/fiance/superstud Liam Hemsworth as her “hubby” in an interview with Cosmopolitan. The quote sparked an untold number of rumors suggestion that the power-couple have already tied the knot without us catching on. Well, it turns out we missed a crucial part of the interview: She actually straight up said she was married, y’all! “I’m happy I don’t have to date anyone,” she said within the pages. And later on while telling an anecdote she dropped another glaring hint nugget: “‘I’m so happy I’m married, because you guys are so cruel!'”
OK, so she might have just taken a conversational short cut, and what she meant to say was “I’m so happy that I’m about to get married in the very near future.” But that’s kind of a mouthful, no? A rep for Hemsworth strenuously denied the wedding bell buzz to People, saying that they are “definitely NOT married.”
But hey, reps deny stuff all the time. And it doesn’t explain those Twitpics from Christmas that showed Miley and Liam wearing matching rings. And it really doesn’t explain why those same photos mysteriously vanished soon after being posted! Did Miley and Liam get married in secret? It wouldn’t be the first time in Hollywood history. Head on down to the gallery below and see 20 other famous couples who got hitched on the super DL!
It’s a question that has perplexed humankind since the dawn of time (or at least the last five years): Who is the hottest Canadian Ryan of All? The top two contenders are obviously Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds. But like Highlander, there can be only one. Everyone has their favorite choice, but seeing as how it’s Ryan Reynold’s 36th birthday today, we’ll give him the leg up above Mickey Mouse’s old flunky Gosling. Don’t believe us? Well, our crack team of pop culture experts have put the two Ryans to the test, measuring them against all sorts of important criteria. And the results were pretty telling. See for yourself!
We guess it isn’t technically ironic that Alanis Morissette is in talks to become an American Idol judge. It’s unexpected, but it probably wouldn’t be ironic unless Alanis lead some sort of public campaign against Simon Cowell. If only. When asked about the show at the Hollywood Rockwalk induction ceremony this week, however, Alanis did admit that she’s “been in conversations about it, and that’s the degree to which I can share the info right now.” Ugh, we would love to see Morissette smiling away at the judge’s table to. We suspect her feedback would be…delightfully unpredictable. Remember the transparent dangling carrots. Yeah, this would be a great move.
Of course, the Jagged Little Pill singer is only one of roughly one billion musicians A.I. might potentially be hiring, joining the proud ranks alongside Keith Urban, Nick Jonas, Enrique Iglesias, Brad Paisley, Kanye and Nicki Minaj. While we’ll obviously wet our pants if Kanye or Nicki snag a spot (that also goes for Enrique, because yum), we could see the show hiring Alanis simply because Mariah Carey isn’t going to flip her wig about working with her. “I live to mentor, so my heart is much more open to the idea of that than even 10 years ago when I, perhaps, wasn’t in a position to be able to offer much advice, solicited or otherwise,” Morissette explains. Eat your heart out, Dave Coulier.
Thank U, Gyllenhaal. Thank U, synergy. Thank U, corporate resurgence! Alanis Morissette was on hand for the Prince Of Persia premiere in LA last night, having recorded “I Remain,” the track that plays over the film’s closing credits. “I saw a screening of the movie and immediately felt compelled to write a song within 10 minutes,” she told USA Today. “It wrote itself.” Funny, we just assumed the producers remembered her bombastic City Of Angels track “Uninvited” when they needed something vaguely middle eastern for the credits, but her version seems a lot more flattering. Maybe she can make a whole album based on summer blockbuster video game adaptations! Look forward to her “A World Of Crafted War” in 2011.
An event honoring producer Jerry Bruckheimer coincided with the Persia premiere, giving pec-powered Persia star Jake Gyllenhaal the chance to mingle with action heroes like Tom Cruise, Nicolas Cage and Bruce Willis. See photos of these stars and more in the gallery below (is it just us or does Billy Bob Thornton look like the dad from Gossip Girl these days?).
In 1996, Alanis Morissette released her biggest single to date, “Ironic,” hitting the top ten in at least ten countries. In 2006, model Heidi Klum released her first single, “Wonderland”…making the German Top 20. Both women were born on June 1st. Which one is older?
We’re dedicating this week’s 5 for Friday to lovers. It doesn’t matter if you’re planning a hot date or licking some painful break-up wounds — we have you covered. Get in the mood with our five music videos for Valentine’s Day.
With a raspberry and plenty of nyah nyah nyahs, “So What” has put Pink back where she belongs — on top of the charts. And so what, indeed, to her ex-husband Carey Hart, referred to in unfavorable terms throughout the song. Pink isn’t the only one to turn her pain into artistic profit. As Kid Rock explains in “Half Your Age,” “You thought I was just gonna sit back and take it on the chin / But honey, I’m a songwriter …” Here are ten other tracks that prove revenge is a dish best set to music. — Charles Bottomley
