Valentine’s Day came early this year, as some of the hottest couples in the music biz took a stroll down the red carpet at the 2013 Grammy Awards. Musicians aren’t known for ever being short on arm candy, but this year’s ceremony seemed even more paired off than normal. Seriously, if you were invited the Grammys and you didn’t take your boo, you’re gonna be in the doghouse til next year!
Alicia Keys has been making hits for over 10 years now, and you know what? She has not changed a bit! The piano playing soul-stress burst onto the scene with her incredible 2001 album Songs In A Minor (we’ve yet to figure out if they’re actually in that key), and she hasn’t gone away since. In the past decade she’s added “wife” and “mother” to her resume after having baby Egypt with husband Swizz Beatz. But even with those added roles she’s still busting out the hits, most recently with this fall’s smash “This Girl Is On Fire.” Hell, she might as well be singing about herself! Damn — these two need to take a bow. Y’all know our immense love for Michelle Obama. This writer even shares her birthday with the FLOTUS — bragging rights, holler. We’ve all been so stoked for the historic occasion of President Obama‘s inauguration, which went down yesterday, and we have to admit, one of the reasons we were so excited was to see what Michelle would wear. Best-dressed First Lady, ever. Can we just say, Mrs. Obama did not disappoint at all. She rocked it in the stunning red chiffon and velvet Jason Wu gown you see on the left. We literally broke into rapturous applause when we saw her. Kimberly McDonald custom jewelry and Jimmy Choo’s complete the look. But the first lady wasn’t the onlylady in red at the evening. The fabulous Ms. Alicia Keys also performed at the ball wearing a red crystal embellished Michael Kors Fall 2012 gown with that gorgeous bare-back adding that necessary hint of sexy. It wasn’t only onstage. Lots of gorgeous celebrities either whizzed through the red carpet super quickly at the People’s Choice Awards last night, or chose to skip it entirely, only to appear on stage to accept an award or two. We picked our top 10 from this list and plenty of your favorites are included. Jennifer Lawrence to begin with in a Valentino Fall 2012 Couture dress with Nicholas Kirkwood black satin pumps and Cartier jewels. Love J.Law, but not so enamored by this dress. This is the photograph she’s most working it in, but in others, it ages her and swamps her frame. Then, we have Sandra Bullock in a blue custom Vera Wang strapless bodice and pencil skirt, but what really got us excited, were her hot pink pumps matched with her hot pink lipstick. Jennifer Aniston in Christian Dior surprised us, because even though her dress was her usual black, it was quite playful and featured a flounced skirt. She paired it with Tom Ford black ankle-strap heels and Fred Leighton jewels. Emma Watson wore a jazzy, kaleidoscopic Peter Pilotto with strappy Tabitha Simmons ‘Bailey’ sandals, while Katy Perry was the most toned down we’ve seen in a while, in a demure Valentino Fall 2012 dress with Jimmy Choo suede pumps, Jennifer Behr headpiece, and Sylva & Cie earrings. Hits of gorgeous yellow were provided by Brittany Snow‘s pale daffodil draped Maria Lucia Hohan three-quarters dress and Melissa Rauch‘s bright sunflower Junko Yoshioka gown accessorized expertly with Stuart Weitzman gold heels and a gold Vincent Camuto clutch. After years of being linked to her character Ginny Weasley with trademark titan tresses, maybe she followed in the footsteps of Emma Watson, who famously cropped her hair as soon as the series ended to get some distance from the franchise. Or she’s just hopping on the short hair band wagon!
It seems like ever A-lister has gotten the urge to hack of the hair this year. Some like Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Evangeline Lilly went super short for film roles, whereas former American Idol singer Kellie Pickler got a buzz to support her friend being treated for cancer. How quickly our sartorial tastes have to move in peak party seaon. Yesterday we had Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Jessica Biel as our current favorite fashion stories. Today, we’ve moved to Kristen Stewart, Alicia Keys and Liv Tyler. Kristen was at a special screening of On The Road yesterday at Sundance Cinema in L.A. and her face looked absolutely gorgeous. She wore an edgy Jason Wu Spring 2013 ensemble which involved black leather high-waisted shorts with lace inserts and Barbara Bui black oxfords. Can everyone pull this off? No, but Kristen can! Next up, we have Alicia at the Keep A Child Alive’s Black Ball “Redux” 2012 benefit at The Apollo Theater in New York City. She poured herself into a minimal, burgundy column, and we’re dying to know who designed it. Loving the simple black choker with the diamond design as well. Lastly, we have Liv Tyler at the New York premiere of The Hobbit and forget everything else — we have to get those shoes! The all-black outfit’s great but those shoes were absolute lust at first sight. Especially because she, very smartly, matched them to the shade of lipstick which looks completely stand-out on her. But enough of typing, we’re now going to make it our life’s mission to find out who made those heels or break into Liv’s closet.

Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, joyful Kwanzaa, and — why not? — happy birthday too, while you’re at it! It’s the holiday seasons, folks; the time of year for giving to our nearest and dearest. TV personalities Maria Menounos and Angela Simmons made a strong showing, too. We’ve also got shots from the usual suspects like reality star Kim Kardashian, never-shy Twitter mama Adrianne Curry and Coco, the Patron Saint of Donks.
Some of our very own VH1 stars like Mob Wives’ Drita D’Avanzo and Basketball Wives’ Evelyn Lozada put in an appearance, as did Hunger Games leading lady (and our personal favorite) Jennifer Lawrence. Professional hotties Kate Upton and Brooklyn Decker look straight out of the pages of Sports Illustrated, while Victoria’s Secret Angels Miranda Kerr, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima are simply heavenly.

It was the battle of the volume at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards yesterday. While Heidi Klum was OTT in various Versace ensembles and Carly Rae Jepsen was Taylor Swift‘s doppelganger, the likes of Alicia Keys, Lana del Rey and Gwen Stefani stood out by keeping it simple and stylish. Alicia complemented her angular bob with a Stella McCartney ‘Miracle’ dress with its very geometric use of three colors. She paired it with pointed silver Gianvito Rossi metallic pumps. Lana kept it very minimal (almost boring) in a Shareen Mitchell dress and bouffant, backcombed hair. Gwen’s thigh-high boots were amazingly hot with her black draped satin Jean Paul Gaultier outfit.
Going completely in a different direction were Kim Kardashian and Rita Ora who went B.I.G. Kim tweeted that she was wearing “the coolest Stephane Rolland” dress for the show. but this whole mullet silhouette and long train just doesn’t do it for us. It almost got her to fall flat on her face ON STAGE as well. Rita’s gown may cause some people to frown, but we love it. It’s a red taffeta Marchesa ballgown and we think it looks like a dream on her. Not very many people would be able to pull this off, but Rita certainly can. Does it work for you?
