The 2011 Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, gave is some pretty awesome moments on air, even though the carpet fashion was lacking. We have to give props to Senor Chang Ken Jeong for having the ability to humiliate himself on stage for laughs! But everything anyone did at the show—including Beyonce performing a very sexy “Run the World (Girls)”—was overshadowed by Britney Spears. Brit-Brit had some help on stage in creating two incredibly memorable performances. The first was with Rihanna on a remix of S&M which kicked off the awards. The second was with Nicki Minaj on “Till The World Ends,” after Minaj sang “Super Bass.” Badass!
That was just the beginning. The Billboard stage saw the likes of U2, Neil Diamond, Mary J. Blige and cutie Justin Bieber (in a very Vegas-esque golden tux) come on. Bono and gang were on hand to receive the Touring award while Neil accepted the Billboard Icon award (he also sang “Sweet Caroline” and “America” before receiving the trophy). The Biebs won the Billboard.com Fan Favorite Award and the Top New Artist Award but how about that kiss with Selena Gomez, huh?
Ri-Ri took home the Radio Artist of the Year and Female Artist of the Year while Taylor Swift (in a trademark sparkly gown) accepted the Billboard 200 Artist of the Year and Country Artist of the Year. Beyonce was feted with a video montage that featured Barbra Streisand, Bono, Stevie Wonder and Michelle Obama while receiving the Billboard Millennium Award. Wow! Can Beyonce turn it up a notch when she wants to! The sexy singer is up to her 4th album—aptly titled 4, which also happens to be her birth date. The current release date is June 28, but the artwork’s already out…and all we can say is rwar! 4 features Beyonce wearing nothing but a pelt, some jewelry, what looks like a g-string and a smoldering stare! She debuted the video for “Run The World (Girls)”, which is on the album, during American Idol yesterday, while serving as a guest mentor. Let the promotions begin! What do you think of the album art?
Oprah Winfrey taped her some of her last shows this week (spoiler alert: there were celebrities!) and the one requirement for appearing onstage was that each star had to do their best “Oprah having an orgasmic meltdown” impression. The roster was a who’s who of ultimate Oprah BFFs, including Maya Angelou, Tom Hanks, Will and Jada Smith, Tom Cruise and his wife-bot Katie Holmes, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, Halle Berry, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jordan, Maria Shriver, Patti LaBelle, Josh Groban and, randomly, Dakota Fanning.

In case you didn’t get enough of that stars-and-stripes feeling the first time around, Beyonce surprised a dance troupe in NYC by jumping into their assembly performance, also as a part of Mrs. Obama’s initiative for children. Those tiny professionals don’t even stop dancing through their screams! We’ll gladly stand up next to those kids, and defend their right to hyperventilate over Beyonce still today.
We don’t know which part of Beyonce’s workout video is more likely to et us off the sofa: Bee’s sunny enthusiasm, the incredibly talented dancing kids or her ability to jump rope in stiletto heels. Oh right, it’s all three. Beyonce’s “Move Your Body” vid is apparently just the latest part of Michelle Obama‘s Let’s Move! anti-childhood obesity campaign. Considering rumors about Beyonce’s royal wedding performance, it’s nice of her to stop by and spend time with some good all-American lunch ladies. While the health-conscious jam might inspire kids to stay active by running “to the left, to the left,” it will also probably make a thousand flash exercise mobs break out during lunch time. The cafeterias of our junior high schools can’t take this much Running Man! Then again, if a child is too busy doing the Dougie to eat his or her Honey Buns, Michelle and Beyonce would almost certainly put that in the victory category.
Beyonce was quite easy to spot yesterday in Paris (see what we did there?). The singer went for brunch with hubby Jay-Z at Fouquet’s Hotel wearing a dotty outfit that we actually think is quite cute! Her high-waisted skirt and sky high heels are very lady-like — if you can get past the color blocking and all those dots. We did! But we also think that no one else could pull this off but her. Jay-Z rocked an urban slouchy look, and what can we say — we’re fans of this power couple and whatever they wear! [Photos: Splash News Online]
Yes, this is Beyonce at Disneyland Paris wearing a Goofy hat. Creative disguise to trick the paparazzi, or new fashion statement? We’re not sure, but we’re irritated by the fact that she can look amazing wearing anything.
