Years ago Beyonce‘s claim to fame was being 1/3 of the group Destiny’s Child whose song titles repeated the same word three times– “No, No, No and “Bills, Bills, Bills.” Bey put on her solo artist wings and flew, but not before Destiny’s Child became one of the highest selling girl groups of all time. Actress Angela Bassett remembers being in awe of Beyonce at a VH1 Divas live show way back before Destiny’s child would become Destiny’s superstar icon. Read more…
Thanks to the rise of ultra snarky shows like Fashion Police, Hollywood’s A-List movie stars work their hardest during the 3-month slog that is Awards Season to stay out of the crosshairs of Joan Rivers and her band of catty cronies. Thankfully, our favorite musicians like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Cee-Lo Green have no such qualms about making a genuine fashion statement on Grammy night.
Seeing all of these shots of Beyonce hanging out with her Destiny’s Child ladies Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams is seriously messing with our heads. We honestly don’t know if we can go back to a DC-less world again. Simply put: We’re hooked. It was hard enough watching the trio bring the house (and the lights) down at the Super Bowl, but now these super cute photos Bey posted last night with her musical sisters pushed us over the line. We can’t say goodbye again! We know that Beyonce can be somewhat coy with her big announcements, so we’ve started wondering if she’s just dropping major hints with these pics. Could she be bringing Kelly and Michelle on her Mrs. Carter world tour?
If you’re reading this blog, chances are pretty high that you viewed the whole Ravens and 49ers tussle as the opening act to a far greater power: Beyonce. Her half time performance was without a doubt the most anticipated event of the night for us (even more than that Bar Refaeli ad), and Queen Bey did not disappoint! The diva left us all spell bound with a collection of her modern classics like (our fave) “Crazy in Love,” and even got some help from her Destiny’s Child sisters Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on “Single Ladies.”
Needless to say, everyone was blown away by her incredible showmanship. But one person on particular was particularly proud…He husband Jay-Z, of course! Hova went backstage after the performance to congratulate his lady in person, and the result was thankfully captured in the cutest Instagram known to human kind. “Lights out!!! Any questions??” the proud husband tweeted soon after, proving that we weren’t the only ones who thought that the half-hour power outage in the 3rd quarter was a direct result of Bey blowin’ some fuses!
Beyonce herself took to both Twitter and Tumblr to share some hot/adorable behind the scenes images from her time at the Superdome. In addition to the pics, she also spread some love with a self-penned thank you note to all ladies who shared the stage with her during Super Bowl Sunday. “What a proud day for African American Women!!!!” she began. How is it possible for even her handwriting to be sexy!? “Kelly, Michelle, Alicia, Jhud- You are all beautiful, talented and showed so much class! It was an honor to perform at the Super Bowl with you phenomenal ladies.”

It’s Friday, so I can confidently say that this is the best Tumblr of the week, maybe even, of the month. Bold claims, but after Destiny’s Child (aka Beyoncé +2) announced that they were “getting back together” with an album of unreleased remixes and one (1) brand new track, everyone flipped out. Meanwhile, on the cover of said new album, Vanity Fair makes a good point that “the only person on the cover with even a hint of a smile on her face, while Rowland and Michelle Williams look as though they feel slightly betrayed and can’t yet trust again.” Yikes.
At least two former Destiny’s Child members agree: no one expected Beyonce to be the first to have a kid. Not because she wouldn’t be an amazing mom (“She has always had this motherly spirit about her,” LeToya Luckett gushes) or because she’d have any problem finding a great dad (“God made Jay for her,” raves Michelle Williams), but because Beyonce has always been a career woman first and foremost.
“We just never knew that she would be the first to have a baby or the first to get married because we always knew she had a focus that was…not human when it comes to her work,” Williams explained at the Essence Black Women In Music event. Said Luckett of her former band mate, “She’s a planner! Literally, I think she planned her whole life out. ‘At 30, I’m going to have a baby!’ Then at 30, she had a baby. That’s just Bey.” Then Williams imitated Bey doing crunches and breast-feeding at the same time. “We’re gonna do crunches, Boo Boo! Come on!,” Michelle joked. Ugh, why did Destiny’s Child ever break up?
The women of Destiny’s Child are headed to court over a copyright infringement case—someone actually wants credit for “Cater 2 U”—and the drama may be tearing longtime friends Beyonce and Kelly Rowland apart. According to the New York Daily News, Rowland is outraged the group may have to pay for former manager Matthew Knowles‘ alleged overstating of his daughter’s part in the songwriting credits. “Matthew has a long history of trying to get songwriters to add Beyonce’s name to songs she didn’t compose, just so she gets publishing royalties,” says their source. “That information eventually became widely known, and now anyone who wants to accuse Kelly or Destiny’s Child of stealing material has ammunition to file a lawsuit. Kelly is livid.”
“Things have gotten tense since Kelly griped that Matthew is the cause of this lawsuit,” says the insider. It’s not hard to believe since Rowland dropped the elder Knowles as her manager earlier this year, and hasn’t been seen in public with Beyonce since Kelly’s birthday party in February. Michelle Williams may have said the group might reunite in August, but that’s starting to sound like wishful thinking.

Destiny’s Child are on the road back to the charts, according to Michelle Williams. The superstar trio, which included Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland, are going to be working on the future of the chart-topping global supergroup, despite having successful solo careers.
“It definitely will happen. We’re sisters, we love each other and we want to work on the future of Destiny’s Child,” Michelle said.
Huh. We love the girls, but didn’t they split up about five minutes ago? Hint: you have to be missed long enough to make a successful comeback. Give it a few more years and a few more ’90s revivals and we’ll be begging for it. Just not yet. [Photo: FilmMagic]
Do not touch Ne-Yo‘s hat. We repeat, do NOT touch the hat. The star took things very seriously when out clubbing in London on Tuesday night, and got two fools who tried to take his trademark headgear thrown out of the West End spot.
“Two guys thought it would be hilarious to try to get Ne-Yo’s hat. But when they tried, security stepped in and they were quickly dispatched from the club,” says an onlooker.
Thankfully, the drama calmed down and Ne-Yo was able to continue partying with his coterie of former Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams — currently appearing in Chicago in the West End — and David Hasselhoff. The Hoff was in good form, spending the second night in a row at the club (obviously only drinking fizzy pop) and on the arm of a very young-looking brunette. [Photo: FilmMagic]
