Katy Perry Ditched Guitarist BF … Days After Russell Brand Said He Still Loves Her

Katy Perry’s iridescent gown and too-dark lipstick earned her a spot on our worst-dressed list at last night’s Billboard Music Awards. But we neglected to mention that she accessorized the over-the-top ensemble with the cutest of all arm candy: her 91-year-old grandmother, Ann Hudson. Seriously, how much do you adore her bedazzled walking stick?

Anyway, Ann’s presence as Katy’s date makes a lot of sense when you take into account the rumors that she broke up with her very short-term boyfriend, Florence + the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd. We only just learned they were dating at Coachella last month! “It wasn’t that serious,” a source told Us Weekly of their hookup and breakup. “It’s not a nasty thing and they are still talking, but Katy told him to do his thing and they’ll talk soon.”

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson Get Their Coachella On With Katy Perry

Of course only after we gushed over seeing the likes of Alicia Silverstone, Joe Jonas and Twilight stars Nikki Reed and Elizabeth Reaser at week two of Coachella, two more amazing sightings come across our desk that kind of outshine the rest: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart tucked in among the masses at the Beirut set on Sunday night — photographed together before they split up to thwart the paparazzi; and KStew backstage with Katy Perry during the Florence and the Machine set, where a fan snapped a pic and posted it on Instagram. And incidentally, Katy was evidently there to watch Florence guitarist Robert Ackroyd, with whom she was seen holding hands and kissing during the festival.

Robsten were also spotted together during the Radiohead set on Saturday. “They were kissing and holding hands during Radiohead, swaying and singing along to parts [of the songs],” a festivalgoer told Celebuzz.

We’re so happy the couple got to enjoy this downtime together before they have to compete against each other in the cutthroat Cannes Film Festival competition (that’s how that works, right?).

Adele, Rihanna, Jessie J Get Cheeky At Brit Awards

We have a theory: Adele and the Brit Awards producers must have known that no one would treat “Adele wins” as a big headline-worthy deal this week, after she swept the Grammys last week. So they purposely cut her off during her acceptance speech, and she flipped them the bird. Yep. That worked! The triumphant songstress’ middle finger livened up her otherwise risk-free appearance, but other stars at last night’s show let their gowns (or lack thereof) do the talking. For her performance, Rihanna switched out her breathtaking, beaded gold gown for a sweatshirt and some boxer brief. Jessie J flashed us her underpants through a gauzy, flamenco-style red gown. And Florence Welch looked a bit like wild animals tried to rip her dress off her — but the look kind of worked on the energetic singer. It was a night when risks paid off, after all.

Katy Perry And Russell Brand: We Have Planned Your Rebounds For You

We don’t like spreading vicious rumors here at TheFABlife. We don’t even enjoy reporting on good ones, if they don’t seem very true. But what we do like is imagining hypothetical maybe stories that would be very nice if they were true. Or something like that. Anyway, that’s what we’re doing as we figure out how to put a happy spin on the Russell Brand/Katy Perry split.

First, as background, the sad rumors: The U.K. Sunday Mirror reported that “insiders” said that the couple’s marriage has been on the rocks for a while and they’d even been in counseling because Brand, 36, wanted to leave his partying days behind him to settle down and start a family. But Perry, 27, didn’t want to be a housewife, the paper said. Also, they had mutually agreed to the divorce, but according to TMZ, Katy wanted Russell to file because her evangelical parents don’t believe in divorce (we’re pretty sure this technicality doesn’t get you off the hook, KP). One more sad thing, Russell was seen by himself at the Savoy hotel in London, and when someone at the gym told him happy New Year, he said, “Here’s hoping it gets happier.”

Oof. Now for happier rumors: Katy was able to have an upbeat New Year’s Eve, as people told the New York Post that she was partying it up in a private room at SoHo House in West Hollywood “One wouldn’t have ever even known that her husband had just filed for divorce,” a source told the paper.

Top 10 Sexiest Diva Looks From VH1 Divas’ Red Carpet

Yank on your Spanx and prepare your side eye: the ladies of VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul, which premieres Monday, Dec. 19 at 9PM EST, turned it out on the red carpet. Metallics were huge at the event: Mob Wives‘ Drita D’avanzo slipped into skin-tight gold, Estelle shined in Grecian-style bronze and Love And Hip-Hop 2‘s Emily Bustamante shimmered in off-the-shoulder gunmetal. Jessie J paired her gold with sheer cut-outs and an asymmetrical bob, while The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi dressed in slinky black. Jill Scott looked royal in blue, La La Anthony paired a fuchsia lip with herringbone and a slick updo (because she’s business, not casual), and a tiny Jennifer Hudson paired peach with a mint manicure. Looking heavenly, both Mary J. Blige and Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine upped the glamor with glittering white. We hope looking this hot doesn’t ruin anyone’s diva reputation. Mary J. Blige’s Top 40 Hottest And Wildest Looks

As Mary J. Blige gets set to perform on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul (airing Mon., Dec. 19 at 9PM EST), we’ve been wondering why the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul is so universally loved. We’d guess it partially has to do with Mary J. practicing what she preaches in her hit “My Life.” The lyrics, in case you’ve forgotten:

Florence Welch Ushers In The New Year At Vogue U.K.

We’ve always thought that Vogue U.K. was far ahead of the pack, and they’ve proved us right by putting our girl crush, the generally amazo Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, on their January 2012 cover. And the shot, by Mario Testino, has her looking like herself (or as much as a Vogue cover could allow) in a pleated silk Chloe gown. By that we mean, they haven’t styled the f— out of Flo, and she looks as statuesque as ever. Of the experience, she told the magazine, ”It was really fun. It was quite energetic, ’cause I had to do lots of … We were kind of going for an Isadora Duncan meets Patti Smith thing and so it involved a lot of jumping … and wind! That’s kind of good for me ’cause it keeps your energy going so I got to just run around a lot.”

There’s also a shoot inside the magazine, and they’ve stuck to a whole bohemian-hippie chic vibe. It’s all radically different from the October 2011 cover she did for Vogue Nippon, which was shot and styled by Karl Lagerfeld and was a lot stronger and more androgynous.
