Jon Bon Jovi Breaks Our Hearts With Awesome Dad Thoughts About His Daughter’s Overdose

Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

If there is one teeny, tiny bright spot to the recent heroin overdose of Jon Bon Jovi‘s daughter Stephanie, it’s that at least she has Jon Bon Jovi for a dad. The man seems way, way, way more down-to-earth and normal than he has any right being. “What I do for a living seems glitzy and glamorous but if you don’t take it too seriously it’s a great way to make a living,” Bon Jovi told L.A. Fox 11’s Courtney Fiel when asked about last week’s incident. “And then life goes on. Things happen.” See? That is a textbook Good Dad Response to a horrible crisis. Could…could Bon Jovi possibly write an actual textbook? It’s too late for the holiday season, but maybe for a summer read…?

As you might recall, Stephanie was arrested following her alleged overdose in a dorm at Hamilton College; the charges were later dropped after it was found that Stephanie had less than 8 ounces of heroin in her possession. Drug charges were also dropped against fellow student Ian Grant. Concludes Bon Jovi, “This tragedy was something that I had to face too so we’ll get through it. And people’s warm wishes for my family and I have been really reassuring. So we’re good.” Aaaaaand we are tearing up at a Jon Bon Jovi interview. We know Thanksgiving is going to be super awkward this yeah, Stef, but we think  you are in the best possible hands.

There Is Nothing Not Tragic About Jon Bon Jovi’s Daughter’s Alleged Heroin Overdose And Arrest

Jon Bon Jovi's daughter Stephanie Bongiovi arrested after overdose

It’s bizarre to think that Jon Bon Jovi literally experienced a parent’s worst nightmare early this morning: receiving a call saying his child had been arrested following an alleged heroin overdose. TMZ first reported that police had responded to a call made from Hamilton College claiming the singer’s eldest child Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was “unresponsive” in her dorm room shortly before 2:00 a.m. Stephanie was allegedly treated at a hospital following intervention from emergency medical personnel, then subsequently arrested and charged after a “small quantity of Heroin,” marijuana and “drug paraphernalia” were found in her room. Thus begins a child’s worst nightmare: being simultaneously hugged and yelled at by a deeply terrified Bon Jovi. (We’re assuming.)

“In addition to violating state law, the actions alleged to have been committed by the students violate Hamilton College policy,” Hamilton College said in a statement. “The college is cooperating with the police investigation. Our first concern is always for the safety of our students. Out of respect for the privacy of our students and in accordance with federal regulations we do not discuss individual health or disciplinary matters.” Stephanie is currently recovering from the alleged overdose and has since been released from custody; she will have to return to court at a later date to face the misdemeanor charges. Fellow student Ian S. Grant was also arrested and charged with drug possession following the incident, but more importantly, will probably have to face the wrath of Jon Bon Jiovi.

Bruce Springsteen, Snooki, Chelsea Handler And Other Celebs Band Together To Help Provide Hurricane Sandy Aid

Celebrities offer aid for Hurricane Sandy victims

One of the only good things about a disaster on the scale of Hurricane Sandy is that it definitely helps put things in perspective. And celebrities of every stripe are using their money and influence to spread the word and help those in need! Of course on the wake of the storm’s destruction, many eyes turned towards New Jersey’s favorite son: Bruce Springsteen. And he hasn’t let us down.  At a concert in upstate NY, The Boss dedicated a heartfelt rendition “My City Of Ruins” to his hometown of Asbury Park, and thanked emergency responders for all of the work they’ve done. He is set to headline a benefit concert called Coming Together with fellow Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel and Sting, which will air this Friday at 8 PM on NBC. The telethon will be hosted by Matt Lauer and will also feature appearances by Jimmy Fallon, Brian Williams, and we’re sure many more.

The cast of Jersey Shore has been mourning the loss of their Boardwalk, and posted numerous well wishes to their twitters. J-Woww was reportedly moved to tears when surveying the damage, and Snooki has offered her volunterring services and pledged to donate money to rescue efforts and repairs to her Seaside Heights home turf. “Cleaning my closet today to donate clothes and whatever I can do the victims affected by sandy!” she posted to her twitter. “I’m comin with clothes!!!!”

She’s OK, But…Kristin Chenoweth Inducted Into Long List of Celebs Injured On Stage or On Set

Shwew! Kristin Chenoweth is alright everybody! After a pretty nasty lighting equipment accident she was rushed to the hospital but she was released this afternoon. Prior to her release, she was seen rocking a blue hospital gown and a neck brace which we’re sure she made look absolutely beautiful!

Kristin isn’t the only celeb to have gotten some serious bumps and bruises on set. Here’s a list of a bunch of other celebrities who know how K.Chenoweth feels (and hopefully this makes her feel a little bit better!):

When Angelina Jolie was performing a stunt for her movie, Salt, she bumped her head pretty bad and started to bleed. She was rushed to the hospital but, don’t fret, Angelina was totally fine.

Robert Pattinson was on the set of New Moon when a massive gust of wind knocked over a metal sign and banged him in the back of the head. He was disoriented afterwards and took the rest of the day off. He came back to the set the next day but sporting quite the shiner!

Shania Twain took a tumble at the 2011 CMT Awards. Not only did she  immediately laugh it off, only hours later she posted a video of it!

Jon Bon Jovi tore his calf muscle near the end of a concert of his in New Jersey. He finished the concert with a performance of “Livin’ on a Prayer” and was then seen limping off stage.

In November 2009, Justin Bieber took a fall on stage at London’s Wembley Arena and was quickly rushed to the hospital – but he had to finish his set, of course!  Later on Twitter he said that he felt his “ankle roll in a very bad way.” Ouch, Biebs!

Drake tore his ACL, LCL, and MCL during the America’s Most Wanted Tour in 2009, after injuring his knee not once but twice!

The list could go on but this is really just bumming us out. To all of the celebs out there, please be careful, you’ve really scared us. And to Kristen, from all of us here at VH1, we wish you the best with your recovery!

Jon Bon Jovi Through The Years — Happy 50th Birthday!

Nothing says rock-n-roll like entering your sixth decade, right? Or something like that. Anyway, today is rock legend Jon Bon Jovi’s 50th! Since 1983, Bon Jovi has toured with and without his eponymous band for almost three decades, sold over 130 million albums worldwide, and spawned some of the greatest rock anthems ever, and somehow doesn’t show the wear and tear of life on the road. While singing of those striving youths of New Jersey, Jon’s also cashed in on his other skills, showing off his lusciously feathered locks and hard-rock abs as a model and actor. In 1996, Gianni Versace personally selected him as the face of Versace’s spring ad campaign. And we have a soft spot for his 1999 guest stint in an episode of Sex and the City, where he played Seth, a guy who frustratingly became disinterested with Carrie after sleeping with her. (The opposite is hardly true — we’ll never be disinterested with him!) Showing his softer side, singer has donated to charitable causes and raised money for the Special Olympics and Red Cross. Jon’s still giving love a good name: He and wife Dorothea Hurley currently raise their family in Jersey. Wish JBJ a happy birthday as you check out how he’s aged (barely) through the years:

15 Jersey Characters We Hope Katherine Heigl Studied For One For The Money

One For The Money starring Katherine Heigl opens wide today, and it shows her in a way we aren’t used to seeing her.  No, we don’t just mean “brunette.” The film is based on the best-selling novel about Stephanie Plum, a down-on-her-luck lady from New Jersey who turns to bounty hunting to make some cash. The tough-as-nails Jersey girl part seems a bit of a stretch for Heigl. So let’s hope she researched by watching some other classic characters hailing from the great Garden State. Check out our 15 favorites in the gallery below. (Warning: Those sensitive to blatant stereotyping of New Jersey residents should probably just proceed to the next blog post.)

Katy Perry, Kimora Lee And Others Celebrate Holidays In The Sun

There are lots of times when we can ignore the fact that celebrities live better lives than us (like, this morning, when we read about Sinead O’Connor’s miserable love life, for instance). There are even times when we try to imagine that their lives are JUST LIKE our own (say, on Saturday when Paris, Prince and Blanket Jackson were on my JetBlue flight from the Bahamas to Orlando!!!). But then we get to work and browse through photos like the ones above and below, and realize we a) don’t have friends with yachts, and b) don’t have round-the-clock personal trainers and chefs to make us look amazing during the two months of the year when it’s impossible not to stuff your face daily. Anyway, at least we all get enjoy getting to look at pretty pictures. Democracy in action. Check out these pics of Katy Perry, Kimora Lee and Djimon Hounsou, Russell Simmons and Melissa George, Stephanie Seymour, Jon Bon Jovi, Serena Williams, Coco and Mischa Barton enjoying their Christmas weekend on the beach. And don’t miss our gallery of the 100 hottest celebrity bikini pics of 2011.

Jon Bon Jovi Clears Up Death Hoax On Twitter

Did you read the rumors that Jon Bon Jovi was dead floating around on Twitter yesterday? We did and knew it was a hoax but there was a litte bit of us who thought — This BETTER not be true! News like this always brings out the Cassandra in people even though we’re well aware that weirdos on Twitter regularly bump off celebrities. Jon thought he would clear up the air himself and tweeted a photo of himself standing in front of a Christmas Tree with a placard that read, “Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey…” Someone from his management also wrote a message that clarified, “…Rest assured that Jon is fine! This photo was just taken.”

So there you have it, folks. Jon is A-Ok. Also note, he’s standing in front of a Christmas tree and not jumping into it like one Kiefer Sutherland.

Paul McCartney’s Ballet Premiere Draws A Star Studded Crowd

Here at The FAB Life, they don’t come much bigger than one of the original fabs, Paul McCartney! The legend added a new notch to his musical resume last night with the New York City premiere of his ballet composition, Ocean’s Kingdom. It was certainly a family affair, as Paul was joined in Lincoln Center by his fashionista daughter Stella, musician son James, and rumored fiancee Nancy Shevell. But even more stars turned out by the galaxy-load to watch the unveiling of the work for themselves. Sarah Jessica Parker turned up in what appeared to be a lace tablecloth, while the lovely Liv Tyler shown in a see-through black gown. A very trim Alec Baldwin kept things classy in a tux, while Jon Bon Jovi and Little Stevie Van Zandt kept the rock ‘n’ roll flag flying high.  And Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees made an appearance to up the WTF factor. He’s had an opening in his calender since 1969.

On the way to the theater, the-still-pretty-cute Beatle admitted to feeling “quietly confident and nervous” about how his work would go down with the crowd of famous faces. “I’d seen the great traditional ballets like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, but I had a very limited knowledge of ballet,” he told the Press Association. “Since this project I’ve obviously started to take notice.” But don’t except him to pirouette for us anytime soon. “I went to see Giselle recently in London and was bowled over by the sheer athleticism of the dancers,” he said. “The next day I tried to do one of the steps and failed dismally.” Although our idolization of him is so intense, we’d gladly pay big bucks for a show called Paul McCartney Fails At Dancing For Two Hours. Plus it would remind us of our prom. Check out more from last night in the gallery below!

Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora And Diane Lane’s Big-Haired 80’s Love Triangle

We love a hard-partying juicy story from the past, and this one made our ears prick up like Legolas from LOTR. The fact that Jon Bon Jovi dated Diane Lane back in 1985 totally skipped our pop culture radar. In our defense, we were two years old at the time.

All the dirty deets are in Bon Jovi‘s ex tour manager, Rich Bozzet‘s book, originally titled, “Sex, Drugs and Bon Jovi“. So Rich… what’s the book about, huh? His story is that Jon and Diane were like this tight and loving it up, but unfortunately she was also getting this tight with the band’s guitarist, Richie Sambora. An excerpt reads, “The very thing that made Jon feel so passionate toward Diane Lane in the first place ended up being the reason for their sudden, unceremonious breakup.”

Another passages spells it out: “Diane was young and wild and loved to party. But she loved to party so much that Jon caught her partying with Richie Sambora. That wasn’t a good day for Jon’s relationship with Diane, to say nothing of Jon-Richie relations.” So as we know, Jon ended up going back to his old flame Dorothea Hurley, and they got married in 1989, while Diane eventually ended up with Josh Brolin.

But what we want to know is, “…caught her partying with…” means what exactly? Taking the book’s title into consideration it could mean a lot, so maybe we’ll just leave “partying” in quotation marks and let our imagination run free.
