Black reinstated itself as the it color at VH1 Divas last night at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. It had been relegated into the shadows thanks to the summer brights trend over the last few months. It was the shade to wear as evident by the evidence on the red carpet and on stage! Stacy Keibler wore it via a Monique Lhullier skintight suit and Jimmy Choo shoes, while Keri Hilson took it on through a Pucci jumpsuit, Christian Louboutin shoes while blinging up with Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Demi Lovato wore black with a sweet Topshop dress with lace overlay shoulders while Miley Cyrus not only wore it with lots of metal embellishments on stage, but also as she arrived, in a sexy cut-out Omo by Norma Kamali dress. It’s like those two were at opposite ends of the spectrum with Demi being sugar and Miley being the spice! Ciara was sleek and sexy in a sequined Pamella Roland gown and that’s not all. Jordin Sparks, NeNe Leakes, Amber Riley, Elisha Cuthbert and more wore black to the show making it the biggest trend of the night. Check out our gallery below for all the looks and tell us what you think, and who your favorites are.
Onstage at VH1 DIVAS tonight, the name of the game was the glitzier the better, as befits a dance-themed show. But before the likes of Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert, Keri Hilson and more hit the stage in their best studded leather and sequins, they all had very different ideas of how to approach the purple carpet. It was just the kind of daring and diversity that makes these artists the perfect guests for a celebration of diva-tude. There was Demi Lovato looking rockabilly cute and Ciara doing old-Hollywood glam. Jordin Sparks and Bootsy Collins sparkled, while Brandy and Kat Graham donned edgy white and ivory.
Whatever their approach, none of these ladies and gentlemen was about to fade into the crowd.
True story: we once spotted the lovely Keri Hilson here at VH1 doing her own make up in our bathroom lobby, which confirmed our adoration for the singer. A lady with bold, adventurous style who isn’t afraid to touch up her own blush is a winner in our book. Not to mention she pens kickass dance tunes! “Pretty Girl Rock” is our ‘gettin’ dressed to go out’ jam.
Keri was in Las Vegas this weekend where she performed at The Gallery nightclub. We love her militaristic mini with the hint of neon peepin’ out at the top, and the mary-janes are an easy pairing with just about any look. But the hat! Oh the hat. We like the nod to the troops and the 1940s throwback, but we think the look would have worked better with some pin-up style victory rolls and dramatic red lips. What do you think about her head-cessory?
Before we can say anything else, how about Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose getting frisky on the green carpet, huh? The 2011 BET Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A last night and the duo looked quite happy wrapped around each other! We’re also loving the Dolce & Gabbana blazer and pants combination Alicia Keys wore to the event and Kerry Washington has our vote with that acidic Michael Kors gown. We also totally expected Nicki Minaj to bring on some full-on cray-cray but it was a half-hearted commitment. We think she actually looked quite pretty in the textured pink dress-tight-boots outfit she was working.
If you want the list of winners, click here, but hint hint: Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes are in there. Also spotted were folks like Nelly, Ne-Yo, Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott (love her) and the Smith kids — Jaden and Willow. Of course, Willow’s pal Justin Bieber was there too. Was there any ground breaking fashion? No, but everyone looked really comfortable which is quite a change! Having said that, we would like to forget all about Amber Rose’s shredded catsuit forever. Take a look at our gallery for all the action!
In case you were wondering why Keri Hilson, Ashely Tisdale, Bridget Moynahan and Kaley Cuoco stripped down for these Allure nude celebrity photos, the answer is: to demonstrate the Blur tool in Adobe Photoshop C4. We mean, to show how comfortable they are in their skin! In all seriousness, Hilson’s head looks like it belongs on the alien at the beginning of Katy Perry‘s E.T. video; there is not a person alive who’s chin looks like that when they’re lying down. What’s worse, apparently Kaley Cuoco borrowed Lady Gaga‘s skinny monster torso from the Bad Romance video. Don’t forget to pick up your skeletal ribcage for summer!
We already know these ladies are fine as the day is long; did we really need to have every skin imperfection and stray hair completely erased from their bodies? If we want to see plastic hotties, we’ll buy a Bratz Doll. “I’ve always wanted to be sure my parents approve of what I do,” Tisdale said, explaining why her mother accompanied her to the shoot. Considering Ashley looks like she has the starring role in Mannequin 2: One The Move alongside Meshach Taylor,we’re sure her mom is all kinds of proud.
We’ve grown to expect celebs to take fashion risks at the Grammy Awards. It seems no rules apply — human-sized eggs, leopard bodysuits and waist-high slits welcome. This year was no exception. Some of the music industry’s most popular artists, from Rihanna to Ciara to Katy Perry, were sporting ensembles ranging from revealing and sexy to over-the-line skanky (Miley Cyrus’ side boob and accompanying dreamcatcher tattoo). Check out plenty of celebrity skin and lots of trademark Grammy goofy below. [Photos: Getty Images]
Keri Hilson appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman last night, channeling her inner Diana Ross, style-wise. Check out pics of Keri’s entrance at the studio and her transformation into a Motown-inspired songstress. After the jump, watch Keri’s Diva-worthy performance of “Pretty Girl Rock.” Gotta love a song that uses the phrase “Don’t hate me ’cause I’m beautiful” in the chorus.
Is it just us, or do there seem to be more and more televised award shows each year? That means one thing (and it has nothing to do with awards)—there’s more red carpet fashion than ever. When we compiled our list of favorite fashion moments from 2010, we had quite a crop to choose from. Gone are the days where the only shows worth mentioning were the Emmys, Grammys and Oscars. This year’s style compilation comes to you courtesy of the Creative Arts Emmys, the SAG Awards, and even the ESPYs. Oh, and a couple dozen film premieres, too. Check out who made our cut for best dressed celebs of 2010 in the gallery below—including just about everyone from Mad Men, a very GOOP-y celeb we love to hate, and the most famous half-vampire couple ever.
