Purple At The Tony Awards: Seasoned Actresses Out-Glam Younger Amanda Seyfried And Co.

Lauren Bell Bundy, Amanda Seyfried, Tony Awards

Purple popped up as a trend at the 66th Annual Tony Awards this weekend. Although sadly, our younger crop of stars didn’t exactly wear the color well. Laura Bell Bundy‘s purple embellished gown with the sweetheart neckline is so shiny it hurts our eyes. She has got to step away from the satin! We also can’t believe that Amanda Seyfried messed up. It’s hard for her to look bad because she’s so damn gorgeous. Her face her is just stunning with that slash of red lipstick, but the purple Givenchy dress with the loud orange belt just doesn’t work. We normally love orange and purple together, but the problem here is that the dress looks like a slip. These two should have taken a page or out of Bernadette Peters and Ellen Barkin‘s books.

Ellen Barkin, Bernadette Peters, Tony Awards

Bernadette, at 64, as a an absolute knock-out in an eggplant dramatic Donna Karan gown. Ellen, at 58, is effortless in a purple lacy L’Wren Scott gown. The hair and makeup could have been worked on, but that’s just a small quibble. We’re hoping we look as good as them when we get older, because Ellen and Bernadette are seriously foxy! And poor Laura and Amanda were simple outfoxed this time around.

Gowns Rule The Best-Dressed List For The Academy Of Country Music Awards

Country music stars were seriously out to play last night. The Academy of Country Music Awards took place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and the hardware came out. We spotted some really beautiful gowns that looked positively Oscars worthy. Looking much like that coveted statuette was Miranda Lambert who rocked it in a Randi Rahm gold dress. On the softer side were Carrie Underwoodwearing a sheer draped Abed Mahfouz Couture gown, as well as Kimberly Perry who floated around in a princess-like soft gold dress. Extra points for the mussed hair!

Other stand outs for us were Laura Bell Bundy in a dramatic draped silver gown covered in sequins and Taylor Swift who was a tall drink of water in white J. Mendel. The gown itself had small cut-outs on the waist, which were a nice, minimal touch. The most unusual gown goes to Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland who wore a fabulous pink-coral gown, but with a yellow waistband. Who would have thought that would’ve looked as good as it did? We would have also thought that Hillary Scott‘s long black Emilio Pucci would’ve been a little too Morticia Adams for us, but it was jazzed up with a big buckle cinched at the waist. Apart from all the gowns, the one cocktail frock that made it to this list was Nicole Kidman who looked severe, but incredibly sexy in a black L’Wren Scott dress. Way to stand out! Take a look at all the photographs in the gallery below and let us know what you think?

CMA Awards Fashions: The Short, The Long And The Totally Crazy

Congrats go to Taylor Swift for winning her second Entertainer of the Year trophy at last night’s Country Music Awards. But who should win our kudos for being the most spectacularly dressed at the Nashville ceremony? Um, Miss Piggy, obvs. The porcine beauty sported a dangerously short, shimmery champagne-colored dress onstage that we’re sure made Kermit wonder if he’s a mammal after all.

What really popped out last night (besides Kermit’s eyes), was the crazy variety of gowns, short, long, poofy and totally wacko. Taylor’s train must have spanned the entire length of the red carpet. Erin Andrews did Barbie proud in a short hot-pink number. Laura Bell Bundy‘s completely open royal-blue skirt revealed a beaded beige bodysuit — a look that was crazy but surprisingly flattering on her. Susie Brown of the JaneDear Girls accessorized her pink and purple ruffles with a cupcake purse. Natasha Bedingfield donned an entire carpet to perform. Martina McBride rebelled and wore pants. And of course, host Carrie Underwood embraced every single trend with her many gown changes throughout the night.

Flip through these many photos and decide for yourself if Miss Piggy had any rivals in the fashion department.
