Film and television adaptations of popular musicals haven’t been doing so hot lately. After enduring the disastrous live-action Peter Pan that aired on NBC earlier this month – not to mention last year’s The Sound of Music featuring Carrie Underwood “acting” – plus less-than-stellar translations of Nine (2009) and Rock of Ages (2012), is it possible Broadway and the screen just don’t mix?
With Into the Woods in theaters Dec. 25, we know you’re getting into the movie musical mood. Thankfully, there’s plenty of song-and-dance goodness on Netflix to curb your Broadway appetite before then. Read more…
Kim Kardashian’s Paper magazine cover is still getting chatter online. Madonna recently weighed in, posting a topless photo of herself to Instagram. Madge said she didn’t see why nipples were censored, but photos of women’s butts were fair game. The message was seen as a veiled dig at Kim K., so how did the reality star respond?
The ’80s were a time of questionable fashion trends. This is a fact. Though many of the looks ended up being recycled (like neon and ripped jeans), there are some that have no business ever seeing the light of day again. One of the worst? Perms. In every incarnation — be it the poodle perm, the body wave, crimped coifs, hair metal manes, Designing Women helmets — the perm was hilarious at best, criminal at worst (seriously, Whitesnake’s David Coverdale deserves a fine).
The idea of keeping up with the Joneses thrives in the celebrity world. Hence the outlandish cars, jewels and homes stars snatch up to keep themselves looking fresh. And when it comes to creating a personalized gallery or museum in the comfort of their own home, Madonna, Swizz Beatz, Victoria Beckham and more understand that money is no object. Art is priceless, after all.
Every week we become more grateful that Madonna joined Instagram. After a streak of controversial photos with her son, Madge has decided to go heavy on the costumes and overshares. Hence, this photo of her blossoming armpit. Nope, long hair certainly don’t care.
Miley Cyrus has been anything been quiet while traveling the country on her Bangerz tour, yet new photos prove her shocking stunts are just as readily available to consume via Instagram as they are at a pricey live show. Cyrus was seen rolling a joint — with Bangerz-branded rolling papers! — in the studio with Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne in a photo the latter posted to his Instagram account. “Yup…… Recordin with Miley… High as fuck….” read Coyne’s caption. The duo’s studio adventures also included diamond vomit, Beatles covers and Miley nail art, so… be jealous.
Madonna hosted a super secret Oscars party last night. It was so secret that not even the singer knew where it was. Just kidding. But it turns out guests were texted the address. Meanwhile no press or cameras were allowed inside. Sounds elusive. Maybe it never actually happened?!
