The BET Awards Red Carpet Report: Crazy Good Or Some Crazy, Some Good?

2012 BET Awards Red Carpet

The 2012 BET Awards happened last night at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A, and as always, we’re here to give you the red carpet report. The fashion represented is a bit puzzling. Most of the ladies almost got it right. They were so close! Like Tatyana Ali, for instance. Her yellow-and-black ensemble would have been terrific on her, had it not been for that aggressive, vinyl-looking peplum. Or Taraji P. Henson, whose aqua colored dress was lovely, but the sparkly neckline made it look like she had fish scales. It’s hard to make Selita Ebanks look bad — her Falguni & Peacock dress was a knockout, but the sheer skirt made it look like her underpants were on display. Same with Kerry Washington. She always looks so elegant, but her nude, strapless Altuzzara top made us feel like she had forgotten to put something on, on top of her basque, and just ended up going out in her J. Mendel skirt. The bustier looks underwired within an inch of its life.

We also are ho-hum about Michelle Williams — of ex-Destiny’s Child fame. Nice lace dress, but reminiscent of a nightgown, much? Not fans of jumpsuits, either, and La La Vasquez‘s version didn’t fill us with joy. And why did LaurieAnn Gibson look like she had a onesie on? You catch our drift, right? This entire red carpet had some good picks, but each was undermined by some crazy detailing. Does that make it crazy good, or just plain crazy? You decide. Have a look at our gallery that has more looks including Willow Smith‘s, Chaka Khan‘s and Regina King‘s.

Rihanna, Taylor Swift And A Few Surprises Make Our Grammy 20 Best-Dressed List

As the music world continued to mourn the loss of Whitney Houston, many of the stars on the Grammy red carpet decided that the way to honor the late diva was not to tone down their dazzling gowns, but to let them shine. Taylor Swift, Jessie J., David Guetta and Carrie Underwood were all aglitter. Amber Rose went in an entirely different direction, lighting up the evening in a bright yellow Versace. And then there were a few ladies and gents whose simple black was not the stuff of mourning, but of total sex appeal: We’re looking at you, Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson. Which were your favorites of the night? Browse through the pics and then share your opinion in the comments!

Grammy Nominations Concert Winners: Nicki Minaj’s Shoes, Melle Mel’s Arms, Zombies

While Kanye West, Adele, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars are surely celebrating the many nods they received at last night’s Grammy nominations special, the winners of the evening were definitely zombies, who got a big nod from Lady Gaga during her performance. Other groups who will benefit from the evening: podiatrists (because we want Nicki Minaj’s and Taraji P. Henson’s shoes now) and gyms (because between Melle Mel’s arms and Grace Potter‘s legs, we are all feeling a little inadequate this morning). Losers: the color pink, because Katy Perry’s abuse of this monochromatic thing is making us weary of it; jeans — well, just Jason Aldean’s sad, holey, unhemmed pair; and the cows who gave their lives to Reid Perry’s pants.
