We Want A Pitcher, Not A Belly Itcher!

bellyitchers-550

While most of us would agree that it’s a stretch to still describe baseball as being Our National Pastime™, there’s little sense denying that every playoff baseball game played during the month of October is laden with the kind of dramatic tension that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand at attention. This post, however, is not really about celebrating the magic and mystery of America’s most revered professional sport. Rather, it’s about the celebrities who trot themselves out to the pitcher’s mound before games to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

First, the facts: Every single Major League Baseball team plays 81 home games during the course of the season. This means that the poor public relations department of each team has to come up with 81 different ways to get the crowd excited before a game. In some of baseball’s larger markets, teams draw upon their access to a range of different celebrities, a list that runs the gamut from Hollywood’s A-List to downtrodden reality television flameouts, to get their fans excited over a long and often monotonous season. So we here at TheFABLife thought you would get a kick out of seeing celebs of all magnitudes — most of whom are not exactly known for their athletic abilities — attempting to throw a baseball sixty feet and six inches. So, if you pardon the expression, who throws like a girl and who throws like someone who could be called up to The Show? Now’s the time to find out. Play ball!

Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels Split Getting Ugly

melissa_tammy_lynn_main1

Melissa Etheridge and her ex-partner Tammy Lynn Michaels have been in the news for a while now. Etheridge dissolved their relationship legally and filed for joint legal and physical custody of their twins, stating “irreconcilable differences.”  The children were born in 2006, after Tammy was artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor. Etheridge and Michaels registered for a domestic partnership in California back in 2006 and tried to make it legal in 2008, but missed the deadline.

Tammy claims she was “blindsided” when Etheridge dumped her, writing furious poetry that was published all over the internet. Tammy then asked for full legal and physical custody and spousal support and that’s when the trouble started.

She claims that Etheridge has left her and their two children in the lurch with only $4 to Tammy’s name. Her lawyer  Steven Knowles stated, “Melissa has not been treating Tammy or the children as if they are a wife and children, financially and otherwise.” Apparently, the singer has not coughed up any cash since they split, a claim, that Etheridge is denying. Problem is, Tammy filed for the dissolution of their marriage, but they weren’t legally married. Melissa on the other hand filed for the dissolution of a domestic partnership. Tammy isn’t entitled to spousal support if they weren’t married. Either way, Melissa’s lawyer, Neal Hersh, states, “Melissa is paying all of Tammy’s expenses, which totals tens of thousands of dollars per month.”

Melissa Etheridge: Come To My Wedding

Forgive our terrible play on the name of Melissa Etheridge‘s hit song, and join us in congratulating the singer and breast cancer survivor: she and partner Tammy-Lynn Michaels are getting hitched! The couple exchanged vows in 2003, but now that gay marriage is legal in California, they plan on making it official. The pair has four children together, and are now just waiting foe some down time between ballet classes and soccer practice to walk down the aisle: “we have four children,” says Etheridge, “and we’re trying to find the right time.”

Whenever that time comes, we’ll be celebrating for the happy couple.  [Us. Photo: GettyImages]
