For five years now, there’s been one big event that truly marks the beginning of Twilight season: The premiere of the first video from the latest movie’s soundtrack. Last night, we saw the premiere of Green Day’s “The Forgotten,” the first single off Breaking Dawn -Part 2‘s disc. It combines a lot of the elements we’ve seen in earlier Twilight videos — clips of Edward and Bella, beautiful forest scenes, that filter that makes everything look like an old home movie — while also being very Green Day. You’re not going to see Billie Joe and company strolling about in the woods, even if this song is rather emo. Instead, they’re performing in a concert and a recording studio.
Other acts have taken a more literal approach to the videos accompanying the saga. Does that work better for you than the detached concert thing, or is it all about the music? Take a look at four other quintessential Twilight videos and then vote for your favorite below.

This year’s Grammy Awards were very good to Lady Antebellum and Arcade Fire (winners of Song/Record of the Year and Album Of The Year, respectively). They were not, however, quite as good to the ten people that you’ll see below. Whereas the likes of Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez scored high in our gallery of the Top 15 Sexiest Grammy Awards outfits, we had some reservations about some of the fashion choices made by Lady Gaga, Kate Hudson, Cee Lo Green, Lenny Kravitz and more this evening. Sure, some of these outfits weren’t meant to be taken seriously (hi Cee Lo!), but they still had us scratching our heads and asking ourselves, “WTF?!?”

When the Farro brothers quit Paramore, it was initially announced as an amicable split—until the departing founding members dropped a secret-spilling blog post accusing singer Hayley Williams of using the band to build cred for a long-planned solo career. Unsurprisingly, Williams and her remaining bandmates plan to have the last word. More specifically, Paramore will do a live-stream with MTV News, titled The Last Word, on Friday.
While the band has yet to deny any of the Farros’ specifics about who signed what contract or who had separate managers (though they dismiss the charges as “irrelevant”), they are bummed to have their dirty laundry aired so publicly. “There’s been a lot of things said online, especially in the past week, and it sucks,” said Williams. “It hurts, because what we were told was that they weren’t happy, they didn’t want to do this, and you can’t be mad at someone for not feeling something…But then when it really became about all these other things, I was very surprised and kind of felt led on, almost.” Were the Farros right to clean out the closet or are you on Team Hayley?

When Paramore announced founding members Josh & Zac Farro were quitting the band, the split sounded pretty graceful (“For the last year it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere”). But judging from an apparently legitimate blog post from the Farros, the good wishes aren’t totally appreciated. “I want to be honest with you guys about how this band formulated from day one,” wrote Josh. “I did not think Hayley [Williams]’s version told the whole story, at least from our perspective and hopefully this will explain a bit about why we are leaving.” Uh oh…
According to Josh, Hayley already had her own manager when she joined the group, and despite their “grass roots” promotion, Hayley was also the only one who signed their (initially secret) major label contract. “We didn’t understand why Hayley was the only one signing the contract since we were told this was a ‘band’, but we were too young to grasp all of this…what started as natural somehow morphed into a manufactured product of a major label, riding on the coattails of ‘Hayley’s dream.'” Despite the constant squabbling detailed in the post, the brothers stuck with the band for over six years, until the the end of their 2010 American tour in Orlando ten days ago. While Paramore hasn’t stopped tweeting, could this drama make Hayley Williams’ solo album come sooner rather than later?

While this video isn’t exactly a performance, it’s the first actual footage to be released that will air as part of VH1 Divas Salute the Troops — and it gives a good hint as to the show’s overall scope and tone. What we learn is that the Divas’ salute to the troops isn’t just lip service. While the show is headquartered at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego (i.e., Top Gun land), Paramore performs at a real-life military base in Kuwait.
And Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams‘ pep talk to the troops comes off as genuinely sincere. “I don’t want you to ever forget how much we appreciate what you’re doing,” says Hayley, wearing a sparkling blue bodysuit (eye candy in the middle of the desert!). “When we go back home, you’re not forgotten. We think about you guys all the time and we love you guys.”
Watch the clip above to see the troops eating it up. Bragging rights to anyone who can guess the song Paramore starts to perform. Hint: We’re pretty sure Hayley mentions part of the title in her speech. VH1 Divas Salute the Troops will feature performances by Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson and more. It airs Sunday, Dec. 5 at 9/8c.
Next up on our VH1 Divas performer parade we have that punky princess from Paramore, Hayley Williams! Not only has it been an incredible year for her band, but Hayley hit a major home run herself guesting on B.o.B’s “Airplanes.” The red-headed alt-rocker is always known for her hip and unique sense of style, and we can’t wait to see how she rocks it at VH1’s Diva’s Salutes The Troops this weekend. Even Divas need sass. Join us as we count down her twenty hottest looks!

VH1 Divas is back for 2010 with the new special VH1 Divas: Salute The Troops, featuring Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Paramore and Sugarland. Performers will entertain troops at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar in San Diego as well as at an undisclosed location in the Middle East.
The show airs on Sunday, December 5th at 9PM ET on VH1, and we’re starting the festivities early with the hottest photos we can find of the brand-new class of Divas. Let’s just say these pics are Russell Brand approved (so we imagine). Check out the gallery below for the 5 Sexiest Photos of Each of the 2010 Divas (for the bands, we’ve singled out Hayley Williams from Paramore and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland) and read the full VH1 Divas: Salute the Troops press release at the VH1 Blog.
While the 2010 VMAs were a wee bit more subdued than last year’s show, the white carpet was full of fashion hits, misses and WTFs. Lucky for us, when the stars got it right, they got it way right.
Our best dressed list is varied to say the least; there are no easy to spot trends or styles that everyone embraced. But there is is one thing that unifies this crew: they all know how to play up their best features and their personalities to a tee. Ashley Greene (aka Audrey Hepburn reincarnated) nails the short, sexy and cute look, Katy Perry is playful yet perfect and Gaga is, as always, Gaga. Nothing is sexier than being true to you, amirite? Okay, that was cheesy. Let’s just get to the outfits, shall we? [Photo: Getty Images]
Note to singers: do not perform on TV immediately after days of “doing publicity.” Judging from recent morning-show performances from Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, you’re just asking for trouble. While Carey’s concert in Rockefeller Plaza for Today this morning wasn’t as hard on the ears as Houston’s Central Park debacle, her strained revisiting of 1991’s “Make It Happen” made painfully clear how much of her voice she’s lost over the last decade or so. Not that the fans or hubby Nick Cannon, waiting in the wings for another PDA, seemed to mind.
According to whispers in the New York Post, Carey’s voice may have been the victim of late night partying. Arriving at a New York restaurant at 1:30am recently, “she tripped twice and had to grab hold of one of her guards so she wouldn’t fall. She ordered a bottle of champagne but she could barely speak.” An affliction another source credited to—you guessed it—“18 hours of press.” And who knows how many “interviews” she had since then.
But more embarrassing than anything that went into her blinged-out microphone was some clumsy choreography during “Obsessed” in which she was lifted up and down by her back-up dancers. Once we get, but three times in a row? Why not just bounce her off a parachute? Check out the silliness after the jump.
