Sure Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are famous all over the world and have millions of dollars at their disposal. But they still celebrate birthdays in the same cutely embarrassing way that we always do at our local Olive Garden. Kimye put in an appearance last night at the Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation’s Angel Ball, held at the fancy Cipriani restaurant in New York City. Yeezy must have had a quick secret word with the waiter, because soon a chocolate cake was delivered to a surprised Kim and Co. Alright, her birthday was technically on Sunday. But that’s half the fun! We have on average approximately 35 restaurant birthday’s a year.
Guests reportedly sang, and model Bar Refaeli snapped a few pics on her iPhone. It’s just like a night out with our friends! Except less endless pasta bowls and bread-sticks. Celebs really are just like us! But those weren’t the only famous faces to turn up at the Angel Ball. Gerard Butler was there, as was Angela Simmons and super model Irina Shayk.Nelly and Ashanti went together, but the cutest pairing had to be Solange Knowles and her gorgeous mother Tina. If there’s one trend we’ve been spotting taking over red carpets in 2012 alone, it’s been the juicy summer brights look. We’ve been happy to see every shade of orange and yellow seep onto a variety of silhouettes over the year, from the very start of January. The Oscars, the Met Ball, the Golden Globes and the big premieres — hello, The Hunger Games — all had these shades represented by actresses who are not afraid to embrace the bright side. The Met Ball alone really took care of this huge trend with a number of actresses choosing orange like Kristen Bell and Emma Roberts. Solange Knowles and January Jones really took care of the yellow spectrum. Some celebrities have been more courageous than others, wearing brights on numerous occasions. Like, Viola Davis, Nicole Richie and Elizabeth Banks. Each of those lovely ladies is represented in our exhaustive gallery of 25 pictures below. This collection comprises our favorite looks — all worn this year, from January onwards — which are all either orange or yellow, keeping the trend in mind. You’ll also see where exactly they were worn, in case you want to do a little digging on your own. Knock yourselves out on these punchy shades and tell us whose design you liked best!

We love the brights trend and we love the women who dare to wear the shades even more. The Met Gala had its fair share of examples and some of the stars scored top marks and made it to the best-dressed list. Like Solange Knowles in a sunshine, peplum Rachel Roy gown. Or Emma Roberts who also wore a semi-peplum Escada number, only in a color that comes between orange and yellow. Katherine McPhee was also part of our best-dressed roll call, wearing a stunning Elie Saab tangerine column.
Some celebrities also made it to out fashion-forward list, wearing ensembles that are risky and not cut-and-dry. January Jones was on the list wearing a neon yellow, futuristic looking Versace gown. Taking the time capsule way back, was Kirsten Dunst who wore a pumpkin colored Rodarte number that looked like it was from the ’40’s. Sadly, landing up on our worst-dressed list was Eva Mendes who wore a terrific punchy shade of orange, but the Prada peplum gown itself was downright frumpy on her. Rounding up this brights post are Ginnifer Goodwin and Kristen Bell, both wearing tangerine. Ginnifer wore a lovely cap-sleeved Monique Lhuillier, while Kristen chose a Tommy Hilfiger halter-necked version which she rocked. See for yourselves!
This is going to be a long list, folks, so get some popcorn ready. There was so much material to choose from, from this year’s Met Gala that we drove ourselves into a tizzy. We weren’t ever fans of, say, peplum (gowns with an overskirt), but Solange Knowles‘ sunshine-yellow Rachel Roy number made us fans. Keeping up the bright trend was Katharine McPhee whose low-cut, unforgiving tangerine Elie Saab column was stunning. Emma Roberts wore a brighter shade of orange, and also incorporated peplum in her gorgeous Escada strapless gown. Moving toward red territory was a surprise entry: Chelsea Clinton. She wowed us in a cherry, lace-overlay strapless gown, and she totally needs to reveal who the designer is.
Other fab outfits were worn by Ashley Greene who picked a dreamy, Grecian Donna Karan gown and Amy Adams, who also wore white Giambattista Valli, with a cheeky gold bow detail at the waist. It was completely old Hollywood glamour. Another one of our red carpet favorites choosing that vibe was Amber Heard, a knockout in a dusty rose Zac Posen fishtail. The Glee gals represented and chose completely different looks. Dianna Agron went for elegant, romantic glamour in an emerald green Carolina Herrera gown. while Lea Michele picked a sexy, slashed navy blue Diane von Furtsenberg dress.
Our picks for best-dressed also include supermodel Jessica Stam wearing a pastel blue, almost gladiator-esque John Galliano for Christian Dior Haute Couture dress number with gold detailing, and Hilary Swank in a burgundy, halter-necked Michael Kors gown. There are a total of 16 looks to choose from in our gallery below, so check them all out, and tell us whose gown you like best.

We’d like to save the best for last, so we’re going to start with who didn’t hit the mark at last night’s Tribeca Ball in New York. The event was honoring Robert de Niro, FYI, and was held at the New York Academy of Art. We’ll start with Solange Knowles on the left. Love the coral lips and print blouse, but not exactly loving those high-waisted, shiny trousers. Taking “shiny” to a whole new level is Carla Gugino, in the middle. She’s such a beautiful woman, but that bouffant hair is all wrong, especially when paired with that red, satin dress. We get she was trying to go retro, but couldn’t get it right. Then there’s Paz de la Huerta on the right. We don’t even know what to say, or where to begin. Just … NO.
We’re moving on to the meh pile next, which comprises Padma Lakshmi and Helena Christensen. To see what they wore, and what we have to say, click after the jump. The best dressed lot also awaits you! Read more…
OK, well, we assume Jay-Z and Beyonce get out for more romantical-type evenings than last night’s outing, but any night out counts as a date night for new parents, right? Bey wore a flattering, body-hugging blue Victoria Beckham dress with matching blue nails and shoes (it’s cheesy, but we love that she’s got a Blue Ivy theme going here) to attend a fundraiser held by Michelle Obama and co-hosted by Robert De Niro at his Greenwich Hotel on Monday night. Whoopi Goldberg, Ben Stiller, Angela Bassett, Alfre Woodard, Harvey Weinstein and Georgina Chapman were the other big-name guests, per the New York Daily News along with Solange and Tina Knowles. Jay, Beyonce, Solange and Tina were later snapped leaving Tribeca sushi hotspot Nobu.
We can’t get over how skinny the new mamma looks already. Politics and Japanese cuisine sound like very manageable elements of a post-baby diet — much more than hiring a live-in trainer for twice-daily workouts.

Beyonce and Jay-Z‘s security inconvenienced other families in Lenox Hill Hospital. Blue Ivy Carter was actually born via scheduled C-section. Kanye stopped by Bey’s birthing suite, only to put a tiny mic into Blue’s hand and immediately snatch it away again. There are a lot of rumors and gossip surrounding the arrival of Hov’s first born, and Solange Knowles doesn’t like any of it one bit. Time for a Twitter rant! “We are supposed to be super human and watch people we love get slandered, lied on, and ridiculed. It is one of THE hardest things to accept,” the singer rages. The absolute hardest thing to accept? The fact that Solange can’t just hunt down all of your home addresses one by one. Because if she could…oh lord.
Tweets Knowles, “In any other workplace…if someone directly tells your mother or sister is a liar and a fake ect…you would naturally express yourself.” Luckily for the haters, Solange is taking solace in the purifying joy of chubby baby goodness. “However, the pure happiness and joy I’ve witnessed and experienced helps me to keep my mouth shut,” she writes. Also helpful are the texts Beyonce‘s been sending all afternoon that just say, “KNOCK IT OFF.”
Like many young and growing families, Beyonce and Jay-Z have traded their flashy car for a safer, larger, and more practical mini-van. But unlike most other young families, the power couple shelled out a million dollars for it! Beyonce has been seen cruising around NYC in her new ride, a massive Mercedes luxury van pimped to the brim with all sorts of mind blowing necessities for the soon-to-be ‘rents. Jay insisted on installing a $150,000 sound system and plasma screen DirecTV for New York Nets/Dora The Explorer viewing, while Bey requested cream colored hand-stitched Italian leather upholstery. We guess baby spew comes off of leather a lot easier than fabric. The whip also has wifi capabilities, and even contains it’s own bathroom with a shower. So basically, there’s no reason to ever get out. Get pics and more under the jump!

Some days it’s hard to find inspiration in the ol’ celebrity gossip world. And other days, Solange Knowles gets in trouble with the cops for trying to enter a club carrying a 5-foot long inflatable banana. THIS is why we love our job, internet! Amazingly this all went down while Beyonce was onstage rubbing her beautiful Beyonce baby belly and shimmying in a sequined tuxedo jacket. Ugh, that alone gives us second child syndrome.
According to TMZ, Solange got upset when she was turned away from Miami’s Club Cameo (because of the banana, apparently), and complained to cops that “she was turned away for racial reasons.” Then, according to the po-po, “Knowles became unruly with off-duty officers, who took her across the street to try and calm her down. Solange claims that’s when cops pulled a “weapon” on her — we’re told she claimed it was a knife — and threatened to deflate the banana.”
It does not get better than this, people. The last thing we want is for the lovely Solange to earn the title of “crazy auntie” before her niece or nephew is even born. Just pack that banana up and head home, girl!
We don’t know for sure if Solange Knowles intentionally had her son Daniel Julez wear awesome little socks that matched her shirt. We’re just saying that would be the only thing that makes these photos of Solange Knowles and child more adorable than they already are.
With Mom in orange-pink and mustard color-blocking and son in neon green shoelaces, the equally stylish Jr. and Sr. Knowles stepped out last night in NYC to attend the announcement of Anna Dello Russo as International Concept at Macy’s guest editor-at-large. To be that fashionable and still be able to drink juice boxes in public without people giving you the side-eye…that kid is living the dream.
