With an average age of 57 years old, Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson, and the rest of the cast of The Expendables 3 — in theaters on August 15 — are no spring chickens. But these men weren’t always greybeards. Check out vintage pics of the stars, including Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, and Kelsey Grammer, when they were the fresh faces of Hollywood.
Look, we don’t know the ins and outs of Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas‘ relationship. We don’t have the time, resources or high-powered binoculars necessary to verify whether rumors of their impending break-up are true. We do know, however, that video of Antonio dancing with Indian actress Mallika Sherawat at Cannes this year proves absolutely nothing about the stability of their union. Take a look at the video after the jump if you don’t believe us: there is clearly plenty of room for the Holy Spirit between those two! If anything, the video is a testament to Antonio’s commitment to Melanie. If he wasn’t invested in keeping their love alive, Banderas could be booty-dancing up a storm! We’ll gladly offer our booties up as a test if you want, Melanie!
Color us dubious, but we’ve been hearing break-up rumors about these two for years, or at least since Griffith did that stint in rehab in 2009. “They seem absolutely fine. Honestly, they seem happy,” a source told People last night. The couple has almost made it to 16 years of marriage, which is, like, 3,000 years in Hollywood marriage time. As such, we…really, really don’t want these rumors to be true. We want Melanie and Antonio to make it into our Celebrity Couples Going Strong After More Than 20 Years list. You can do it, you two! Just check out your fellow old marrieds for strength!
Some of us are just getting to know Gina Carano, as she makes her movie debut in Steven Soderberg’s Haywire, in theaters today. In the movie, she plays Mallory Kane, a private security contractor whose boss/lover turns on her. And naturally, to survive and exact revenge, she winds up kicking the ass of some rather delicious foes: Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Channing Tatum. She also happens to have done all of her own stunts. (At post-screening Q&A for the movie we attended back in December, she said she loves bruises and had to talk the stunt guys into hitting her for real.) Because before becoming an actress, she was a professional badass.
The Muay Thai kickboxer was one of the hottest MMA fighters in the biz before going on hiatus in 2009. (Here’s a little highlights video put together by a fan.) She was also #16 on the Maxim Hot 100 in 2009 and appeared as Crush on American Gladiators.
After seeing her defy the laws of physics in Haywire, we’re very eager for her to get back in the ring. Then again, it would be a loss to moviegoers if she didn’t stay in the acting game — despite the admission by Soderberg that he altered her voice for the flick; she doesn’t really talk all that much in the movie anyway. But we love seeing a female action hero with real muscle and fire in her eyes. Check out our 20 favorite pics of the lovely and deadly Gina below.

What, you thought Antonio Banderas only jumps around like a manic, mugging idiot when promoting Puss In Boots? The actor proved he doesn’t need giant props and Salma Hayek to get him going when he stormed the photocall for Pedro Amoldovar‘s The Skin I Live In in his trademark faded denim earlier today, flexing atop the podium, humping pal/director Almodovar and co-star Elena Anaya, and basically acting like Robin Williams on a coke jag. According to Almodovar, the film is a “horror movie without screams or frights” concerning a doctor who tries to save his injured wife by creating a new skin for her. Just in case you thought Banderas’ antics had anything to do with the movie he’s promoting.

You really need to coordinate with your co-stars before doing one of these things. Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek are at the Cannes Film Festival to hype their upcoming Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots, though they must not have been hanging out before yesterday’s photocall at Carlton Beach. While Salma was dressed a striking crimson gown complete with boa, Antonio rocked a faded denim shirt and jeans, looking like your drunk divorced uncle about to be tossed from a salsa club for harassing the dancers. While they were bound to look ridiculous standing a top two giant, multi-story boots by the ocean, they didn’t have to look this ridiculous. See more shots from the obviously worthwhile promotional event in the gallery below.

Cameron Diaz may have been promoting Shrek Forever After at the film’s premiere in LA this weekend, but her short skirt makes a little more excited for Knight And Day, where we’ll actually get to see those legs in action. If it wasn’t for these promotional appearances we wouldn’t even remember the latest Shrek sequel’s title—why not just call it Shrek: The Last Chapter if that’s what they’re going to put on every single poster? And how can Shrek have a “last chapter” if he’s “forever after” anyway? Possibly also pondering the contradiction with Cameron were stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas—though with paychecks like theirs’ we probably wouldn’t care either.

The stars of the latest (and last) installment of the Shrek franchise, Shrek Forever After, were out in Manhattan last night to walk the green carpet (because Shrek is green! And it’s Earth Day! Let’s pack as much metaphor into this green carpet as possible!) for the film’s premiere as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. That means that festival founder Robert DeNiro was on hand, and plenty of other randos, too. This event is further proof that Kelly Bensimon has become one of those traveling garden gnomes that has its photo taken at every possible opportunity, thus making us wonder how it’s logistically possible for her to be in so many places at once. Check out all the ogre-loving attendees below.

There’s a certain kind of celebrity that flies from its native habitat of New York, Los Angeles or London to breed, bath in warm ocean waters or forage for food and drink along remote tropical beaches. A newly reunited Jude Law and Sienna Miller fall into this category. The on-off-on couple spent the holidays in the Caribbean, as did Rihanna and Marc Jacobs (not together, of course). On the Pacific side, there have been two very rare spottings in Hawaii: Pierce Brosnan with his wife and a shirtless Jeremy Piven.
A different breed has been spotted playing in colder climates this holiday season, including Katy Perry and Russell Brand, now engaged after a pre-Christmas London rendezvous of shopping, sledding and most likely sessions of baby-making practice. But Aspen is the real hot gathering spot in the snow this year, with sightings of Mariah Carey, Antonio Banderas, Paris Hilton and Leann Rimes. [Photo: Splash News Online]
Antonio Banderas dispelled rumors that he gave wife Melanie Griffith an ultimatum to sober up or else he would divorce her. Banderas gave an interview to Ellen DeGeneres which airs on her show today, and discusses that he loves his wife and would never turn his back on her during a rough patch like the one she’s currently going through.
Though Griffith has has a history of substance abuse problems, Banderas explains that the latest stint in rehab is a result of her use of painkillers to get through a knee injury she received after a skiing accident. Banderas told DeGeneres that contrary to the rumors, rehab was Griffith’s idea. “In March, she came to me and said, ‘I’m feeling a little bit weak in my determination for this…so I just thought to go to rehabilitation by myself.’ So the whole entire family is supporting her, and I am supporting her, and at this particular time more than ever. I’m very proud of her.”
Banderas’ support for Griffith is unrelenting and he credits not only the support of their family, but therapy and the “invisible heroes” of AA for helping with their situation. The couple has been married since 1996. [Photo: GettyImages]
Melanie Griffith has checked into a rehab center again, to deal with undisclosed issues. The Hollywood star, who has suffered for years with addiction problems to alcohol and then prescription drugs, is reportedly staying at the Cirque Lodge in Utah.
“She is there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy. This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago,” says her rep Robin Baum. However, other conflicting reports claim this is in a bid to save her marriage to Spanish star Antonio Banderas. Whatever the truth, we hope she gets well soon, and continues in our dream fantasy of making Working Girl 2. Hey, it could happen. [Photo: FilmMagic]
