Looks like we’ve got a regular John C. Reilly on our hands! (Note: John C. Reilly is our benchmark for a versatile acting career. The man was in The Hours and Talladega Nights, so…) Deadline reported today that Josh Hutcherson is currently “negotiating” for the lead in Paradise Lost, across from, you know, Benicio Del Toro playing the infamous drug king pin Pablo Escobar. Does that seem weird to you? Does the film’s description: “Nick, a young Irish surfer who visits his brother in Colombia. There he meets the love of his life — until he meets her uncle Pablo”? Well, it shouldn’t. Josh has basically been cycling through every film genre imaginable since he started in TV movies a decade ago. It was only a matter of time he hit “Drug Action Thriller” after starring in genres like..
We’d like to start by saying that we love our work. We just love pizza, ice cream cakes and those Girl Scout cookies with the coconut a hell of a lot more. And that’s the thing that separates us from the truly great actors. Well, that and a zillion KFC buckets worth of talent! Uber-dedicated movie stars will sometimes go the extra mile and put their bodies through insane physical transformations that make us sore just watching them up there on the big screen. Many hit the gym ruthlessly to purge every excess pound from their body and slim down, while some (occasionally) take a few weeks to pack on the pounds for a role. If it were us we’d choose the pound-packing parts exclusively, but hey!
More recently Anne Hathaway, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto took the tougher route and each shed an unbelievable amount of weight for their respective roles. Anne famously lost 25 pounds for the part of Fantine in the big screen adaptation of Les Miserables by eating two thin squares of oatmeal paste a day! We imagine that includes no dessert? McConaughey jettisoned his Magic Mike six-pack to play the HIV positive lead in Dallas Buyers Club, and his whopping 40 pound weight loss has lead some to wonder if he’s going too far. It’s got to be rough, but they certainly aren’t the first famous folks to go through such a dramatic body overhaul before going in front of the camera. Head on down to the gallery below for more thespians who took their bodies to crazy town, all in the name of their art. Sit down with a nice bag of chips and enjoy!

When P. Diddy throws a party, everyone comes. When Diddy throws a party on a boat in Cannes, you’d better believe that they’d come pouring in. He’s like the entertainment ring master and really knows how to make a splash — pun, intended. A clutch of celebrities dropped in for the bash, most of them casually barefoot. High heels and wooden planks don’t go particularly well together. Spotted wearing black were Michelle Rodriguez and Benicio del Toro, the latter of whom kept trying to dodge cameras. Adrien Brody was relaxed in jeans and a jacket, while Kelly Brook made two wardrobe changes — one while arriving, and one while onboard. Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and Nicky Hilton added starlet glamour, and we’re pretty sure Tara Reid would like to be included in that group. Kim wore a gown that generously showed off her curves, of course. Head on over to the gallery to see the stars in action.

The 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards went down on Saturday night at at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in L.A. Lovely ladies like Kat Graham, Ali Larter and Milla Jovovich attended. Larter looked tiny in a ruched red Zac Posen dress while Jovovich was draped in vintage Halston. Kat nailed it in a strapless black gown by Indian designer duo Alpana Neeraj. Grand dames like Betty White made an appearance too. She walked the red carpet with Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves — her co-stars on Hot in Cleveland.
Cher and Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack presented the Stephen F. Kolzak Award to Chaz Bono for making a significant difference in promoting equality. We also love that Josh Hutcherson got the Vanguard Award for the LGBT ally organization he co-founded called Straight But Not Narrow. The award was presented to him by Benicio del Toro, no less. Have a look for yourselves at all the very evident camaraderie between the stars in the gallery below.

Okay, sure, the idea of Blake Lively in a menage a relationship with Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson is pretty hot. So is the sun-soaked world of California pot farmers, Mexican wrestling masks and an extremely random cameo from John Travolta. Based on the trailer for Oliver Stone‘s new crime thriller Savages, however, if we do end up seeing this movie, it will be due entirely to the presence of Salma Hayek. Well, Salma and Salma’s bangs. 60% Salma + 40% Salma’s bangs = 100% fierceness.
In the action flick due out July 6, Hayek stars as Elena, the leader of a drug cartel who kidnaps Lively as a way to manipulate Kitsch and Johnson into submitting to her flawless power. Benicio Del Toro costars as an actor who is lucky enough to receive Salma’s choreographed rage-slaps. Oh wait…that’s who he is, not who he’s playing. Have we seen some of these elements before? Sure. But have we seen Salma Hayek engineer a high-stakes kidnapping while wearing summer white? We don’t think so. On a related note, who knew you could be the head of an international crime syndicate and look so pulled together? What can’t this woman do? Check out the Hayek highlights from the trailer that make our fingers itchy to dial Moviefone:
Kimberly Stewart gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday in LA! Yes, that other Kim, who is Rod Stewart‘s daughter and who used to be a notorious party girl the likes of Paris Hilton. Well, she tried to be, but didn’t quite succeed — but that’s a total blessing in disguise.
More importantly, you know who this little baby’s father is, right? Memory check — it’s Benicio del Toro! He confirmed that he was the baby-daddy back in April which led to a fair amount of slack-jaws, including ours. His spokespersons statement read, “Benicio is the father and very supportive. Although [he and Kimberly] are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby.” We’re still waiting to hear their new daughter’s name. Congratulations, baby-mamma and dad!

Congratulations to the happy…couplers? Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro and model Alana Stewart are having a child, the pair confirmed to Life & Style, though they’re not a romantic unit. “Kimberly is pregnant. Benicio is the father and is very supportive,” said her rep. “Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby.” It’s odd gossip rags weren’t paying close attention to whenever these two hooked up, considering how often they’ve been spotted with other celebs: Benicio has dated ladies like Valeria Golino, Claire Forlani and Catherine Keener, while Stewart spent time with men like Tommy Lee, Jason Mewes and King Of Leon Caleb Followill (Stewart was engaged to Laguna Beach‘s Talen Torriero in 2005).
If this news wasn’t odd enough, let’s not forget that Kimberly’s 66-year-old father Rod just had his eighth child earlier this year. Aw, what a lucky guy: how many men can say they got a kid and a grandkid in the very same year? This whole thing sounds like a potential rom-com treatment to us!

This is no way for a 37-year-old Oscar winner to dress. Actually, this is no way for any human being to dress, but we’re especially embarrassed that leather-loving Adrien Brody decided this look was appropriate for yesterday’s Armani yacht party at Cannes. The Lady Gaga shirt may be meant to suggest a fashion forward mindset, but he still looks like a cheap, sticky couch possessed by DJ Pauly D. Even if we didn’t hate this guy for stinking up every single movie he’s made since winning that Oscar for The Pianist (which we still haven’t seen because its a holocaust drama directed by a rapist and starring Adrien Brody), we’d still hate him for this suit. If he makes Predators suck, we suggest he be banned from anything that has the slightest chance of being awesome.
Thankfully, attendees like Emily Blunt, Naomi Watts, Benicio Del Toro and Natalie Imbruglia (she lives!) found more respectable attire for the soiree (Elizabeth Banks is still trying too hard, though). See what they wore in the gallery below.

Grr! Benicio Del Toro bared his claws for the premiere of his new movie The Wolfman yesterday in LA. While it could be argued the Academy Award winner looked a little scary clomping around and hiding his bloat behind an oversized suitjacket, the one-time Sexiest Man Alive contender was less likely to make you jump out of your seat than just wonder when the guy last got a good night’s sleep. You know how people are always noting that male stars don’t get as much crap as women in Hollywood? Here’s a chance to rectify that situation. Hit the gym and preserve that sexy, Benny! CGI can’t save you every time.

The New Year is upon us, and while resolutions and wishes are abound, we’re wondering what’s brewing in the world of cinema. Anticipation is already sky-high for the third film of The Twilight Saga and the first half of the final film of the Harry Potter series, but what else is waiting in the wings? We’ve got Angelina Jolie in a wig, Megan Fox in a corset, and an uber buff Jake Gyllenhaal.
Here are 10 movies worth your $12.50 + popcorn in 2010.
The Wolfman: February 12th
Benicio Del Toro has been holding out on us! Typically attracted to critic-friendly films (Traffic, Things We Lost in the Fire, Che), Del Toro gets horrific for Valentine’s Day weekend in The Wolfman, starring as the legendary moon-hatin’ monster. Critics’ Choice-nominated Emily Blunt plays his fur-lovin’ love interest and always-great Anthony Hopkins co-stars as Del Toro’s father.
Alice in Wonderland: March 5th
Tim Burton + Johnny Depp. Do we really need to say more? Previous collaborations of the eccentric duo include Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This fantastical gothic version of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale is sure to be visually stunning and over-the-top. Naturally Johnny Depp is The Mad Hatter, while Australian actress Mia Wasikowska snagged the role as Alice. Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter plays the part of The Red Queen with Anne Hathaway as The White Queen. Other highlights include Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar and Michael Sheen as The White Rabbit. Can you feel our excitement?
