Brett Ratner And Sandra Bullock Deny Dating Rumors. Thankfully.

Guys, guys, you can stop throwing up now! Brett Ratner and Sandra Bullock are not going out with each other! Despite what InTouch Magazine proclaimed on its cover via salacious blurb, the Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close actress and the defamed would-be Oscars producer/ homophobic comment-making director are not knocking…knocking…knocking boots. Oh boy, here comes our lunch again! “We think that it’s incredibly sad that in these times, this magazine would resort to complete fabrication, solely for financial gain,” Bullock and Ratner reported to The Huffington Post about the sexy, perturbing rumor. Thank goodness! We’ve been trying to eat the second half of this sandwich all day!

“There is not a shred of accuracy in their story,” their denial continued. “We have not seen nor spoken to each for over a decade. We both had a great time after the Oscars, just not with each other.” Phew! And with that, Brett can get back to directing The Rock in Hercules, Sandra can get back to filming the sci-fi thriler Gravity with George Clooney and you, dear reader, can get back to what you were doing before we busted in with the good news: trying not to barf over that alleged Lindsay Lohan/Terry Richardson hookup.

25 Apologies We’ll Fondly Remember From 2011

In the age of Twitter, it’s pretty amazing that more celebrities aren’t putting their foot in it these days. But enough of our favorite (or least favorite) actors, musicians and other public figures managed to say and do the kind of awful things that simultaneously give publicists strokes and keep them in business. After those awful things come the kind of public apologies that make us cringe, squirm and thank god we’re not in their shoes. From Chris Brown to Gilbert Gottfried, Arnold Schwarzenegger to Lea Michele, Hilary Swank to Mythbusters, we had a lot of Schadenfreude to enjoy in 2011. We’re pretty sure the culprits would like us to forget these moments, but here’s a little gallery to remind you:

Brett Ratner Out, Brian Grazer In As Oscars 2012 Producer

Brian Grazer is the new producer for the Oscars 2012, which just goes to show how quickly things happen in this town. Brett Ratner just resigned the post after his controversial homophobic statement at a Tower Heist Q&A on Sunday. Eddie Murphy also just quit as the host saying, “I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job.”

Grazer is a heavyweight and has co-produced movies with partner Ron Howard, such as A Beautiful Mind, and Apollo 13. He’s also responsible for TV shows like Arrested Development24 and Friday Night Lights. And now he’ll be working with producer Don Mischer on the telecast of the awards show. About this new development, Grazer had this to say, “It’s very gratifying to be part of a show that honors excellence in the medium to which I have devoted so much of my career. Don is a legend, and I am excited to work with him.”

Now all the need is a new host. Word is that he’s trying to convince Eddie Murphy to change his mind, so stay tuned.

Eddie Murphy Drops Out As Oscars Host

Eddie Murphy, no! One day after Brett Ratner’s Oscar resignation following his public use of a homophobic slur, Murphy has bowed out of the 2012 telecast as well. Everyone and their mother has been fantasizing about all those funny bits and spot-on musical numbers we had to look forward, ever since Eddie Murphy’s Oscar hosting gig was announced at the beginning of September. Unfortunately, looks like the Tower Heist director and star were a package deal when it comes to the Academy Awards. We blame you for this, Brett Ratner! We blame youuuuuuuuuuuu!

Eddie announced his decision in a statement this afternoon, saying that he respected “each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers.” Said Murphy, “I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job.” We aren’t going to lie; we were sort of hoping this was the start of a brand-new chapter in Murphy’s career. Now, we don’t know what to think. Do you think Eddie is making a huge mistake?

Brett Ratner Was ‘Too Hard On Himself,’ Russell Simmons Says

Hours after Brett Ratner resigned his post as producer of the Academy Awards in the aftermath of his quote that “rehearsing is for f—s,” his buddy Russell Simmons stopped by Big Morning Buzz Live. After chatting about his book, Super Rich, and the passing of Heavy D, the hip-hop mogul came to the defense of the Tower Heist director, though not to the defense of his words.

“I understand how hurtful his words were, and I know Brett’s unfiltered and says sometimes horrible things,” Simmons began, insisting that Ratner didn’t mean his remark as a homophobic slur. “He didn’t mean gay people. I think that’s pretty clear. I’m sorry he said it and I’m sorry he lost his job. I think the punishment was a bit cruel.”

Brett Ratner Resigns As Academy Awards Producer Post Homophobic Slur

“Words have meaning, and they have consequences,” said Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. That statement was directed toward Brett Ratner, who has officially quit his position as producer for the 2012 Academy Awards. His resignation comes in the wake of Sunday’s Tower Heist fan Q&A event, where the director made a really dumb homophobic remark. Ratner’s ridiculously ignorant statement was, “Rehearsal is for f–s.”

The reaction has been swift and acerbic. Ratner penned an open letter to the public that reads, “Being asked to help put on the Oscar show was the proudest moment of my career. But as painful as this may be for me, it would be worse if my association with the show were to be a distraction from the Academy and the high ideals it represents. … I deeply regret my actions and I am determined to learn from this experience.” He’s also been in touch with GLAAD to make up for his mistake by pledging to put together public forums within the industry to promote “fair and accurate inclusions of LGBT people and stories.” Read more…

Best Celebrity Halloween Pics: The Twitter Edition

Happy Halloween, Fablifers! We’ve already shown you the 40 craziest celeb Halloween costumes, and our 10 faves from this past weekend. But those were all such polished, professional affairs, weren’t they? We’re pretty sure that social networking was created mostly so that we could share hastily snapped pics of ourselves and friends making fools of themselves at Halloween parties. And in that respect — silly celebs in costumes, they’re just like us! The collection below gathers the blurry, the scary, the red-eyed, the not-quite-identifiable and the wish-we-were-there shots that famous people from Nina Dobrev and Lea Michele to Eli Roth and Zachary Quinto posted to their Twitter feeds over the weekend. There are some brilliant homemade costumes in the bunch — a bunch of Glee kids as the Rugrats, Leslie Mann as Kreayshawn — after all, many of these actors started off as geeky theater kids. Some A-listers clearly got professional help with their getups (cheating!). And though some look like lame last-minute costumes, we don’t mind because still love seeing the rich and famous not taking themselves seriously.

Peruse the gallery, steal ideas for tonight, and oooh and ahhh at yet another shot of Heidi Klum miraculously making herself gross.
