We are so sorry to disappoint you guys, but apparently the alleged Chris Brown sex tape does not, in fact, feature the “Forever” singer in action. First we lose most of Chris Brown’s Twitter history, now his sexy highjinks. Why won’t the universe let us have nice things?
MediaTakeOut is claiming that an unnamed seller was willing to part ways with Brown’s tape, which allegedly co-stars Basketball Wives‘ Draya Michele, for $50,000. This wouldn’t be the first time Chris Brown got caught up in a sex tape rumor; in 2009 we heard all about his reported escapades with Rihanna, in a video that never materialized. “The report is absolutely not true,” Brown’s rep tells TMZ about the new tape. Another source close to the singer pondered, “Doesn’t it seem like a coincidence that every time Chris has a major performance or event on the horizon, some fake story like this breaks?” Well, having seen Chris Brown’s nude photo, we wouldn’t be surprised if he was the one shopping around the footage himself. He’s doing it for the fans!
Considering the staggering amount of love that’s been made to “Forever,” it makes sense that Chris Brown’s film career would eventually head out into romantic territory. As of this week, Brown has officially joined the production of Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, the rom-com based on the Steve Harvey‘s best-selling relationship book. We haven’t read it ourselves, but we have to assume most of the advice has to do with dating men with thick, luxurious mustaches.
Headed our way April 6, 2012, the film reportedly follows “four interconnected and diverse friends [that] have their love lives shaken up after the women they are pursuing buy Steve Harvey’s book and start taking his advice to heart. When the band of brothers find out that they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire to use the book’s teachings to turn the tables.” Some of the stars appearing alongside Brown include Meaghan Good, Regina Hall, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara, Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson and Gabrielle Union. Actually, this whole film sounds like one gigantic, big-budget commercial for Harvey’s dating book. Fine with us; we’d always rather just see the movie.

Chris Brown may be controversial, but it doesn’t mean the dude’s not popular. This morning he performed on The Today Show for more than 18,000 fans. Jezebel notes that Lady Gaga holds the record for largest audience for a Today Show performance with 20,000 in attendance. Justin Bieber formerly held first place with 12,000. So does this mean Chris Brown is almost as popular as Lady Gaga? He certainly seems inspired by her fashion sense, what with his gold glove-lets and safety pin vest. More pics below!
We don’t know Tammy Brook, the woman who up until yesterday was Chris Brown‘s publicist, but we applaud her for doing her job for as long as she did. It can’t be easy putting a positive spin on all the violent outbursts that Chris was prone to. Brook couldn’t take it anymore though and quit sometime after his Good Morning America freakout, likely because there’s no positive spin one can put on a chair being hurled at a glass window. Brook runs FYI Public Relations, which also represents Mike Tyson, Ice-T and Coco (!) and Bret Michaels.

Chris Brown wants so much for us to forget about his violent outburst against Rihanna that he’s willing to create another violent outburst to overshadow it. That’s some dedication. Brown flew off the handle this morning after an interview on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts after Roberts asked Brown more questions about Rihanna than Brown cared for, and ended up smashing a window at the television studio. Now, Roberts is claiming that she ran all Rihanna-related questions past Brown before she sat down with him. A representative from ABC News defended Roberts‘ line of questioning as well, saying in a statement “As always, we ask questions that are relevant and newsworthy, and that’s what we did in this interview with Mr. Brown.”
Brown, who is currently still on probation as a result of his 2009 altercation with Rihanna, might face charges and even jail time for violating his probation as a result of his behavior today. In an audiotape obtained by TMZ, an ABC staffer was recorded as saying she called police to check on the window Brown allegedly smashed with a chair during his rampage. “If he is still on probation and charged with a criminal offense,” criminal defense attorney Thomas Kenniff told Fox News, “the violation would spell jail time.” Guess we’ll wait and see if charges are pressed to find out what Brown’s fate is. So much for Brown being a model probationer, which is what a judge called him in November.

Oh, wow, Chris Brown is really mad at us, you guys. In an interview with Page Six, Chris Brown says he’s done apologizing for assaulting Rihanna in 2009; he’s more concerned with how everyone turned their back on him after what he terms a “mishap.” “The last two years, everybody dissed me, but my fans were so dedicated,” Brown complained, only a month after Rihanna asked Brown’s restraining order be lifted. “[People] don’t want to get involved with it because they don’t want their name attached to anything negative. Unknowingly, they kind of show their true colors when they do that.” Oh gosh, do you think a flower arrangement is enough of a “We’re Sorry We Didn’t Call After You Beat Your Girlfriend?” gift? Or maybe we should we go for a muffin basket instead?
Chris Brown’s nude photos also popped up online this week, but the singer was more interested in talking about how people reacted to something that happened over two years ago. “People are always gonna talk. But I’m in a positive place… You can’t blame people for how they want to be portrayed or if they don’t want to be associated with somebody who had a particular mishap,” Brown explains. “At the end of the day, if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I’m gonna look like a damn fool.” Hey, chin up, Chris! Keep on giving interviews like this and you’re going to look like a fool no matter what.
Chris Brown will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on February 12th. This is really interesting for several reasons. First of all, SNL is a place where performers have a chance to show off who they really are, by revealing a never before seen sense of humor, or by revealing that they actually have no sense of humor at all. We thought Nicki Minaj was hilarious last week when she appeared in “The Bride Of Blackenstein” sketch, and of course we have to point out that Rihanna killed it when she performed in the “Shy Ronnie” digital short herself. So we would be curious to see if Brown has a “Shy Ronnie” moment himself because honestly, he could use one after all the phony tears he shed on stage in the past. This is definitely a man in need of an image boost.
The other reason that we’re fascinated by Brown’s appearance is that he’s paired with host Russell Brand. You know, the guy who’s married to Katy Perry, who is BFF’s with Rihanna. Was that planned? Will it be weird? Are there any SNL insiders who will provide us with backstage info on how this goes down? It’s entirely possible that Brand and Brown have never even met, since Brand started dating Perry months after Brown and Rihanna’s Grammy night altercation. Still, we’d be surprised if Brand was thrilled to work with the guy. There may be very little drama on air, but we’ll definitely be tuning in to see what happens.
Aw, why is everyone always picking on Chris Brown? Do you think it has anything to do with his inability to not act like a jackass, as evidenced by Chris Brown’s homophobic Twitter fight with singer Raz-B? To be fair, Raz-B kicked off the Twitter feud by asking why Brown would “disrespect women” like Rihanna. Since Raz-B has publicly accused his former manager of molesting him as a teen, Chris of course took the high road and immediately tweeted classy gems like, “@razb2k merry christmas.i just gave you 20 thousand more followers.. u shouldve did this first instead of telling the world you got raped.” and “@razb2k you have a lower back tattoo that says “different strokes.” Brown even re-tweeted a Photoshopped photo of Raz-B’s face on a Peter Pan body. Embarrassing yourself in public: it takes dedication…and sometimes photo-editing software.
After the fight cooled down, Chris couldn’t decide if he felt bad for his actions or just felt bad for himself, which is sort of his M.O. Brown tweeted, “BTW… i love all my gay fans and this immature act is not targeted at you!!!! love,” only to complain later, “its wack as f–k that everybody can bash me… but soon as i defend myself its world war 3.I TAKE S–T FROM everybody… its cool though..” Poor Chris. If only people didn’t get so worked up about his horrible, homophobic ranting!
UPDATE: Chris Brown issued an apology through TMZ this afternoon, stating “Yesterday was an unfortunate lack in judgment sparked by public Twitter attacks from Raz B, who was bent on getting attention. Words cannot begin to express how sorry and frustrated I am over what transpired publicly on Twitter. I have learned over the past few years to not condone or represent acts of violence against anyone. Molestation and victims of such acts are not to be taken lightly; and for my comments I apologize — from the bottom of my heart.”
It’s been nearly two years(!) since the notorious Grammy-night fight that made Rihanna and Chris Brown household names, and Rihanna’s making it pretty clear that she’s really over it. When a fan asked her this weekend via Twitter if she planned to stop talking about Brown and move on, the singer responded by writing “People won’t stop askin abt it! Its f—in annoying! Nobody wants to relive that, but some ppl can’t respect that!” She continued, saying “I get it, they wanna raise awareness to young girls! But it ends up just makin me look bitter, pitiful, spiteful and angry!”
Instead, she wants to focus on her music and her professional rather than personal collaborations. Like with, say, Susan Boyle. Boyle joked about collaborating with RiRi the other day, saying “Would I be good at R&B? I suppose you never know. Maybe me and Rihanna could get together, I could dye my hair purple!” Rihanna responded ecstatically, Tweeting “Hold up! I might be a lil late, but just heard that THEE SuBo wants to collab wit ME??!? I’m game, doesn’t get much cooler than this. ” We can just see the music video now, full of makeover montages and hair dyeing, and the girls hanging in the studio rehearsing high notes and picking songs to sample—someone needs to start a Facebook group to make this happen.
It’s been over a year and a half since the Rihanna-Chris Brown insanity of 2009, and one of them now admits that they have no regrets about the assault. Ironically, it’s not the one we would have assumed. Says Rihanna, “God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, ‘What did I do to deserve this?’ Why was it backfiring on me? But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that’s what God was giving to me.” Yeah, we’ve been hearing a lot of stuff about this God character. We mean, sure he works in mysterious ways, but come on. Let’s not go overboard with the turning points here, Lord.
According to Ri-Ri, the backlash after the assault wasn’t much better. “All this terrible stuff they say to you, it breaks you down,” she admitted. “[But] once you’re back on your feet — if you ever make it back on your feet — that’s the ultimate achievement.” Rihanna has definitely not been letting grass grow under those feet over the past year, touring like crazy, befriending Katy Perry and furiously recording her new album. And with Chris Brown slowly building his acting career and working on his upcoming album F.A.M.E., hopefully they will both continue to be very, very successful. And to stay very, very far away from one another. [Photo: Splash News Online]
