We have been getting our boxes of tissues ready for next week’s season finale of Glee — that show already brings us to tears, imagine what would happen if we had to say goodbye to most of its graduating seniors? — while crossing our fingers that whatever Ryan Murphy and company come up with for season four, it doesn’t become Saved by the Bell: The College Years. Now that bits and pieces of the plan have been revealed at the Fox Upfronts, we’re feeling pretty relieved and excited, actually. (Though there will probably still be crying, of course.) Network chief Kevin Reilly revealed that the show will follow a handful of the seniors to a performing arts school in New York (though we don’t know if this is the famed NYATA or a rival, like Julliard?), and there will be some kind of “show-within-a-show” format. That lines up with what Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel) said this morning on Big Morning Buzz Live.
“We will all be back in some capacity, I believe,” he said. That sounds like some castmembers might be coming back only occasionally — which, good, because how ridic if they all went to the same school?
Amber Riley’s tweet last week, saying she “Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years,” sent Gleeks into a panic that Mercedes and her killer voice would not be a part of the returning pack. But she backtracked on Thursday, writing, “My tweet apparently has been misconstrued. I was not confirming I was leaving the show. Just stating that I would miss being in the classroom everyday with the cast and that would be changing. Thanks for the support guys
