Mad Men Season 6 Gets A Premiere Date And These Groovy-Yet-Moody Promo Photos!

Mad Men Season Six Gets A Premiere Date

APRIL 7 APRIL 7 APRIL 7! Did you get that? You better mark that date in your calendar with ink (no, no, with blood!) because that’s the day our beloved Mad Men returns to the airwaves for its 6th season on AMC! Show creator and drama virtuoso Matthew Weiner has been doing the press rounds, opening up on the latest developments and what we can expect from the surely-epic 2-hour premiere.

“This year it’s really constructed like a film,” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “It is its own story and hopefully it foreshadows the rest of the season…You should know what happened at the end of last season before you see the episode. The whole season is in reference to last season.” OK, sounds good Matt. But what about the plot!? Does Don cheat on his new wife Megan? Will Peggy return to the Sterling Cooper fold? Not surprisingly, he’s staying rather tight-lipped on the subject. But we’ll be counting down the days until we find out! These moody black and white promo photos will have to hold us over.

Bored Of Your Hair? Get Inspired By These Looks: The Top 15 Celebrity Accessories Of 2012!

Top 15 Celebrity Hair Accessories Of 2012

We may not have the big bucks to get the fancy blowouts celebrities get done by the best hairstylists, but there’s at least one thing we can get that puts us in the same league. Hair accessories, which have been huge this year! Floral head-pieces, sparkling stars, crystal hair-bows, and minimal metallic headbands have been all the rage and spotted on the likes of Katy Perry, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence. And plenty more, but we’ve culled out our top 15 looks for you out of all of 2012.

A couple of stand-outs for us. Sarah Jessica Parker‘s custom Mickey Mouse ears made by L’Wren Scott, worn when she hosted the Barneys New York And Disney Electric Holiday Window Unveiling in November, were to die for. Emma Stone‘s delicate gold Jennifer Behr laurel leaf bandeaux worn at the The Amazing Spider-Man premiere at Oktyabr cinema hall in Moscow in June had us floored.  Chloe Moretz also wore a darling crystal hair-bow at the National Board of Review Awards gala in January that wasn’t just age-appropriate. We insist it’s appropriate for every age. Which means a 30-year-old woman (i.e. this writer) gets to wear one and not feel like we’re edging in on a 14-year-old’s style territory! Feel free to pore through our gallery for the rest of the looks!

Christina Hendricks Reveals Ryan Gosling To Be Horrible Monster. JK! She Confirms He’s “Amazing.”

Christina Hendricks Confirms Ryan Gosling Is Amazing

We’re finally starting to trust our instinctual belief that Ryan Gosling is actually a decent human being. If he wasn’t, wouldn’t we have heard some rumor about him being a cruel, arrogant jerk by now? Or at least kind of a dbag? Or that he’s always getting “massages” or some horrible thing like that? Christina Hendricks (who we just realized we trust because she seems like a decent human being) is confirming our suspicions by hyping her Drive costar hard, telling NW Online, “He’s everything you want him to be! He’s amazing, yeah. He’s very polite, he’s very lovely.” Now, are we maybe trying to rationalize our desire to smooch Ryan’s perfectly symmetrical face by convincing ourselves that he has a great personality in addition to being beautiful? Sure, it’s possible! It’s very, very possible!

Of course, Christina might be even more Team Gosling than usual now that Ryan cast her in his directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. “My manager called and said, ‘Ryan Gosling wants to call you, is it ok if I give him your number?’ And I was like, ‘YES! Yes, of course it’s OK!,’” Hendricks enthuses. Despite her Gosling love, the Mad Men star wouldn’t throw husband Geoffrey Arend under the bus any time soon. “Absolutely not!” she laughed at the suggestion she and Ryan might one day get together. “I find [Gosling] incredibly talented and incredibly charming, but that thought never occurred to me!” Aw, Christina Hendricks is a good person! Plus Eva Mendes would almost certainly murder her if she tried!

Why Christina Hendricks Had A Right To Be Offended By This “Full-Figured” Interview

So, the Sydney Morning Herald has done its best to paint an awkward exchange with Christina Hendricks as being all about her objection to the term “full-figured.” That’s even the title of their article, “Just don’t call her full-figured.” But after seeing the video of fashion editor Kate Waterhouse’s sitdown with the Mad Men bombshell, we don’t think that body issues were the only thing irking her. From the first question, it’s an all-around terrible interview. In case you don’t want to sit through all four squirm-inducing minutes of it, here are the highlights.

1. Waterhouse asks “Why first time?” about Hendricks’ first visit to Australia. Her answer is basically “because it’s really far away.” What else was she going to say? That she objects to koalas?

2. Christina was in Sydney for an event that’s all about people wearing glasses. “This is the first time I’ve seen you in glasses,” Waterhouse says. “I Googled and I couldn’t see any on the red carpets.” Awesome research! Also, this indicates that Waterhouse has never watched Mad Men, because Joan wears glasses all the time on the show. Read more…

The 8 Cutest Couples At The 2012 Emmys

Sometimes the best fashion accessory isn’t a cool bag or awesome sunglasses, but a loving partner! The red carpet for the 2012 Emmy Awards was awash with adorable PDAs from some of the biggest A-listers in television. Breaking Bad star and newly minted Emmy winner Aaron Paul could hardly keep his hands off of his lovely fiance Lauren Parsekian, and Broke Girl Kat Dennings was seen looking deep into the lovey dovey eyes of boyfriend Nick Zano. Power couple Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt looked very much the adoring duo (and now we know what that special twinkle in her eye is all about). Jon’s Mad Men costar Christina Hendricks came in on the arm of husband and 500 Days Of Summer goofball Geoffrey Arend.  Head on down to the gallery below for some awww-inspiring photos from the 62nd annual Primetime Emmys!

Kat Dennings’ Dress Plunges Into Christina Hendricks Territory: This Can’t Be Comfortable, Ladies

Kat Dennings Dress Veers Into Christina Hendricks Territory

Anyone who’s seen Kat Dennings on Two Broke Girls know that she has the kind of magnificent bazooms that make angels weep and infants forsake their mother’s milk. Of that, there is no question. But when we saw photos of Dennings’ dress at Sunday’s TCA Summer Press Tour Party in Beverly Hills, we immediately called to mind another charming, talented actress who often sports a similar style: Mad Men diva Christina Hendricks. While obviously they are both goddesses who can wear whatever they want, we just have to say: ladies, this style cannot be comfortable, can it? Can it?

Kat Dennings Low Cut Dress

Honestly, we’ve never seen this neckline except on Dennings and Hendricks, which makes us think it’s being hand-made in some secret government lab dedicated to making dudes’ eyes explode out of their sockets. Clearly, there are some benefits to that; we’re not total fools. Maybe we’re just not the target demographic, but the top of their dresses look like weird, pointy boob hammocks. We never thought we would ever have to type the words “boob hammocks” as an insult, but here we are. Even worse, Kat’s dress somehow looks incredibly tight and not particularly supportive. All we’re saying is: rock out with your knock(ers) out,  ladies, but maybe not in this squishifying boob suspension bridge ish. Ain’t nothing wrong with a regular bra, especially compared to…seriously, what’s under there? A vise?

Three Looks That Worked In Theory, But Not In Reality At The 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards

Worst Dressed At 2012 Critics Choice Television Awards

We are so incredibly sad that Christina Hendricks is on this list, and not the 10 best-dressed list at the 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards yesterday at the Beverly Hills Hotel in L.A. She is such a beauty, but the overwhelming response to this black, chiffon-paneled dress is — meh. Someone needs to give her a shot of Joan’s (her character in Mad Men) mojo in the dressing department because she hasn’t been getting it right for some time now. This is a nightgown, while Christina deserves an honest-to-goodness dress to do her justice.

Aubrey Plaza made the same gauzy mistake. It looks crushed, and the sleeves are kind of random. Plus, it draws attention to her ombre colored hair. She can do — and has done, up till now — way better than this. Lastly, we have Ginnifer Goodwin, whose “I want to be an edgy fashionista” instincts often blur her common sense. We feel that she knows that she wants to look fabulous in certain designs, but it never pans out the way she wants. For example, this Viktor & Rolf Fall 2012 dress was cool on the runway, but it was worn by a giraffe! Ginny’s got a great body, and fantastic skin, but the dress needs a taller person. She’s kind of overwhelmed by it, and it’s wearing her. The eggshell blue nails don’t help. Next time, ladies … next time.

Christina Hendricks Is Two Much On The Cover Of The Hollywood Reporter

Christina Hendricks, The Hollywood Reporter cover

We’re always happy when we see Christina Hendricks on the cover of a magazine. More, we say! She is, in our opinion, one of the sexiest women on the planet. You know who else agrees with us? Esquire who named Christina their “best-looking woman in America” in 2010. The Hollywood Reporter is on board as well, putting the lovely actress on their cover this week. We love the fact that they’ve been shining the spotlight on strong, female actors recently. Remember the cover with all the TV actresses last week? This is the perfect time to have Christina — who looks starkly beautiful in a low-cut, long-sleeved black dress — on the face of the magazine as well. Have you been watching Mad Men recently? Without giving anything away, our jaws have been hitting the floor, especially with the last two episodes.

Don’t read the piece if you haven’t watched, because the first paragraph itself has a major spoiler. But, the main body of the article is broader deals with everything about her role as Joan Holloway on the show and her castmate’s opinions about her — as a character and as a woman. “I thought Joan was such a bitch, and I struggled sometimes trying to make her as real as possible because I thought, who would be so mean?” says Christina. John Slattery, who plays Roger Sterling, provides another opinion. “People want to think because of how stunning she is that she’s just this torpedo, but she’s way more complicated than that, ” he says, adding, “My first scene was walking in with Don Draper at the end of a scene in which she’s telling Peggy to, ‘Go home, take a paper bag, tear out two eye holes and put it over your head.’ I didn’t know what I was getting myself into until I saw her. It was that scene that kind of woke me up to the potential for this whole thing.” Now, watch the episodes if you haven’t already so we can discuss more!
