Andrew Garfield and Dane Dehaan, who portray Peter Parker and Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, were pictured throwing rocks in Brooklyn, NY. The cast has been spotted all over New York City as they film the sequel to last summer’s hit. The two actors looked like they had fun on the set, where Garfield shot the camera his best Blue Steel pose.
From Emma Stone and Carey Mulligan to Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart and Rooney Mara, there’s an ever-expanding group of women on the cusp of adulthood who have already landed firmly on the big screen’s A-list. And while we’re all about girl power, we’ve been wondering: Where the heck are their male contemporaries? Surely the next generation of Ben Afflecks and Bradley Coopers are out there, just waiting to be mentioned on a list like this! Look no further, friends — we’ve got our eye on 13 future big-screen big deals, and have rounded them up for your analysis below. Some, like Robert Sheehan, Nick Hoult and Max Irons are part of the YA book-to-movie phenomenon. Others, like Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, are recent Sundance darlings. While their roles may be vastly different, they’re bonded by incredible talent (and, you know, their good looks don’t hurt anything either).

Dane DeHaan is earning rave reviews for his performance in Kill Your Darlings at the Sundance Film Festival, but what audiences there are really talking about is his passionate onscreen kiss with Daniel Radcliffe, who plays a young Allen Ginsberg. We’re talking steamy, sexy, “is it getting warm in here?” stuff.
At the film’s Sundance premiere, DeHaan (known for his work in Chronicle and Lawless) revealed his trick to portraying such a realistic relationship: He fell in love with Daniel in real life. And, as Harry Potter fans across the globe already know, it wasn’t a hard task.
“Whenever you have somebody in a movie that you’re supposed to be in love with, I guess what I do is I look at that person and try to fall in love with them, and I see what about them is incredibly appealing to me,” Dane explained. “Dan’s such a great person; he wasn’t hard to fall in love with, you know? He’s funny, he’s nice, he’s kind, he’s a wonderful artist.”

There are a lot of firsts for Daniel Radcliffe in his role as beat poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings. First gay love scenes, first time filming in the U.S., and first PERM! The 23-year-old actor has proved he’s not afraid of taking risks, and we’re sure you’ll agree that this time, the result is adorable.
As soon as we saw the first photos from the film, we became envious of Daniel’s luscious head of curls and couldn’t help wondering what his secret was. So soft and wavy! So dreamy! Don’t you just want to run your hand through it?! So at the movie’s Sundance premiere, we asked him to spill on the secret to his locks and also asked if he agreed it’s the best hair he’s gotten to sport for a role.
“Oh, yeah, [it's] far and away the best hair I’ve done,” he told VH1 News at the Sundance premiere of Darlings. “I actually really did end up liking it probably a bit too much. I had a perm.”
Shia LaBeouf is quickly becoming one of our favorite working actors in the biz, for his way candid interviews, his fearlessness when it comes to dissing big Hollywood players and his desire to work with some of the best directors out there. But mainly for the intense, and sometimes weird commitment he brings to his acting. We’ve all heard about his acid tripping as role research and planned un-simulated sex for Lars Von Trier‘s next film, but did you know he also convinced himself that he was so in love with on-screen girlfriend Mia Wasikowska that he totally freaked her out?
Shia told us that he committed so hard to their relationship in Lawless that he was completely in love with her by the time she arrived to the movie’s Georgia set. “I was so eager for her to show up on set,” he said, “and so in love before she even got there. I had already coached myself into this insane romance in my mind. So by the time she got there it was full-blown on my end and did not exist at all on her end. I think it sort of scared her a bit. It was a bit intense. ”
The actor said as a result their communication was “stilted” and so they spoke to each other through an iPod. Seriously. “We never were able to find communication,” he said. ”I would pick songs [on an iPod] that matched my thinking based on the song title,” he said of their talking-through-music relationship. His choice: “You’re Sexy And You Know It.”
Adorable or way too intense? You tell us (but we think it’s kinda cute). Lawless is out today and it is AWESOME. Violent but wonderful, with the added bonus of a lot of close-up shots of Tom Hardy‘s lips. Go!
There’s only a little over a year left before the last Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, hits theaters, and fans aren’t the only ones worried about what will fill that void in their lives. Those of us whose livelihoods rely on fan enthusiasm (being completely honest here!) are a little concerned too! But that’s not the only reason why we’re excited to learn about progress in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s alien survival drama The Host.
According to Variety, they’ve narrowed down the choices for the two male leads to play opposite Saoirse Ronan. Saoirse will play Melanie, whose body, like almost every other member of the human race, has been invaded by an intelligent, parasitic alien species. After being on the run from the invasion for so long, Melanie is somehow strong enough to remain partially conscious while the alien in her body, Wanderer, tries to take over. And with Wanderer she manages to run away and find the underground hideout where Melanie’s uncle, boyfriend, brother and others have been living. She’s not exactly received with open arms, but while fighting for survival she also winds up in one of the most intriguing love triangles we’ve ever read. That appears to be Stephenie’s specialty, doesn’t it?
In the running to play Melanie’s boyfriend Jared are Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Jai Courtney (One Shot) and Max Irons (Red Riding Hood). And testing for the role of Ian, who falls in love with Wanderer, are Dane DeHaan (In Treatment), Thomas McDonnell (Prom, that’s him pictured on the right, btw), Augustus Prew (The Borgias) and Jake Abel (Ronan’s Lovely Bones co-star).
While we wait for In Time writer/director Andrew Niccol to make up his mind, we’ll be over at Hollywood Crush voting for our picks for the roles.
