The 10 Most Successful Stars Of The Skins Franchise

Skins1

Teenage drama is common fodder for TV serials, but somehow when Skins showed up on Britain’s E4 in 2007, it was as if they’d recreated the genre. Nothing was off limits; sex, drugs, eating disorders, depression, illness, death, more drugs and a weird Cat Stevens sing-along were all explored with raw, painful realness on the show, complete with relatively unknown actors who were actually the age of the characters they played. And they did so in painfully cool, hipster-ish, thrift store outfits! Really, what’s not to love?

Stars On The AmFar Cinema Against Aids 2011 Red Carpet

This is the life! The eighteenth annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala took place yesterday at the Cannes Film Festival. The super schmancy event was held at the Hotel Du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France and involved the usual — gowns and jewelry worth approximately three of our lifetimes! Kirsten Dunst showed up looking as fresh as a daisy, completely unaffected by the rumor that her nighttime partying kept Brangelina up all night.

Janet Jackson looked pretty svelte and rocked some bright blue nail polish! Irina Shayk showed up with a slit cut up till there, while cuties Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto snuggled up for the cameras. Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani added a bit of punk to the proceedings while old hands Goldie Hawn and Brooke Shields looked flawless in dull gold and white respectively. Join us in our envy by taking a look at the photos below. We’re making margaritas!

Freida Pinto Saves A Fan’s Life

Freida Pinto has had a life-changing year, going from Indian model to international film star, L’Oreal ambassador, one-half of the cutest celebrity couple going and now, life saver. Freida was out shopping in central London with her Slumdog Millionaire co-star and boyfriend Dev Patel when fan ran up behind them. She accidentally knocked the stranger into the road by turning around, but – shazam! -  then turned into SuperFreida and leapt in front of an oncoming car to pull the woman to safety.

“Afterwards, Freida made sure the woman was okay. It was quite a shock for all, especially Freida and the fan,” an eyewitness reported. What a star! Next time, Freida rescues some adorable puppies from a fur-coat loving witch and stops some evil developers from knocking down the kids’ favorite local club. We think.

Slumdog Stars Go Public

dev-patel-freida-pinto

Isn’t this one of the cutest photos of a totally genuine looking couple that you’ve seen for ages? Slumdog Millionaire stars Freida Pinto and Dev Patel tried to keep their romance under wraps for ages, but have clearly decided to go public now. And they look really happy stepping out together in London for a special outdoors screening of their hit movie at Somerset House. We’re no body language expert, but there seems to be a lot of “mirroring” going on in their poses here, and we especially love Dev’s “I can’t believe I’ve bagged this hottie” look on his face. Bless. PDA Alert! Slumdog Stars Cozy Up In A Cafe

dev-patel-freida-pinto

Yay! Some happy-Friday news from the Slumdog Millionaire stars to see us into the weekend. After the distressing story concerning young star Rubina Ali, here’s a more life-affirming picture — one that clearly shows the flick’s lovebirds Dev Patel and Freida Pinto leaning in for a kiss. Snuggled up outside a cafe in Israel where she’s filming her new movie Miral, they pretty much dispelled that lame claim that they’re “just friends”. Awww. [Photo: Splash News Online]

Good News Day – Slumdog Millionaire Style!

The amazing Slumdog Millionaire just can’t shrug off that Oscar glow. Fresh from the news that the adorable child stars are going to get their own houses in India is the incredibly exciting announcement that Dev Patel is going to appear in the ACTUAL television show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in the UK.  He’s reported to be in negotiations to play alongside director Danny Boyle to try and win a million quid for children’s street charity Railway Children.

“We were approached by Railway Children about doing the special — and we think it would be fantastic. Danny and Dev would play together, as with all our celebrity specials, but filming depends on their availability,” a production source tells The Sun.

Reports are also swirling that producers are planning a musical version of the hit movie — just like, er, Sister Act! — with profits to be ploughed back into the slums and kids’ charities. And Freida Pinto’s been signed up by Woody Allen to be in his next movie. And look – here’s a lovely photo of the kids at LAX, before they went back to India for a heroes’ welcome. Ahhhh. Can we take anymore feelgood news? [Photo: Splash News Online]

Freida Pinto’s Ex Spills Tamest Relationship Secrets Ever

Bitter exes are nothing new for up-and-coming stars. Unsurprisingly, the widely-reported ditched ex-fiance of Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto has sold his story for a bucketload of cash and poured his heart out to the British tabloids. However, unlike the usual warts-and-all tales of sexual deviancy, cheating allegations and bad behavior, poor old Rohan Antao’s revelations are a little more sedate. He tells the News of the World:

  • After meeting in 2007: “We spent all our time together, just the two of us. We were a modern couple, so we didn’t need a chaperone.” Oooh!
  • On their physical relationship: “Her embrace was amazing and you could forget about all your worries. That’s what I loved about her the most. There’s more, but we’re private people and that’s between her and me.” Oh.
  • On his growing anger with Freida and co-star Dev Patel: “I asked Freida to spend less time with Dev, but she refused. She was comfortable with him, and we were talking over the phone less and less. I was ticked off with Dev-and her.” Ticked off! Get that.
  • On their relationship now: “She is infatuated with Dev. I don’t know if they were having a sexual relationship but if I came face to face with him I would have things to say.” Grrr!

Bless. Actually, it’s nice to read a kiss-and-tell from an ex that neither kisses nor really tells very much either. At least we haven’t come away feeling dirty and can look at their cute Oscar photos with innocence still intact.

Slumdog Co-Stars Find Love In Real Life

It was bound to happen – two young stars, a surprise hit movie, an overwhelming and intense surge of fame. The natural thing for them to do is seek solace in each other’s understanding arms (and beds, natch). That’s exactly what’s going on between Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto, according to their Slumdog Millionaire co-star Anil Kapoor. “They definitely make a great pair,” the actor said. “Both of them look very good together.”

While that’s not total confirmation, we’ll take it – as everyone goes nuts for a good love story and we’ve already seen their movie. Pics have also leaked of the fiance Frieda was apparently keeping under wraps. The starlet should feel no shame for ditching her dud of a guy for her hunky on-screen love. Brad Pitt copyrighted the move in 2004, so it’s totally acceptable!  [Photo: WireImage]
