Whee! New baby! Claire Danes and her British hubby (we have a top BILFs of 2012 up, FYI), Hugh Dancy have just welcomed a son making their family a happy little trio. And their new son has quite a solid name, full of gravitas — Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy. No Apple’s or Zuma’s for Carrie Mathison! Baby Cyrus made his grand appearance earlier this week, on Monday (that’s December 17) as confirmed by Claire’s spokesperson to People. The handsome couple have been married since 2009 after dating for three years. They met on the set of the film, Evening, FYI. Danes also publicly confirmed that she was pregnant in July this year, but was silent on the subject after, not revealing any details on due date or the sex of the baby. We’re now itching to see photos of little Cyrus, which we’re hoping will emerge soon. And may we offer a big congratulations to the first-time parents as well.

It’s a day for baby news. We just published that Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves were expecting their third baby, but the stork isn’t quite done with his deliveries. Claire Danes is also pregnant with baby number one with husband, the Brit hottie actor, Hugh Dancy. “No plans, but that would be fun,” is what she told People last October when asked about whether they were thinking of having children. BTW, we still remember Hugh totally stealing the show from Richard Gere in King Arthur, back in 2004. And let’s not forget, what is turning out to be an epic role, in his latest film, Hysteria. Which also makes us think about how her pregnancy is going to affect Claire’s role in Homeland? The baby news was just announced yesterday and we don’t know what month she’s in, when she’s going to start showing and when she’s due. But that baby bump’s bound to come around pretty soon. Season two’s due to air in September this year, so we think she may just be in the clear. Congratulations to the low-key couple! We wonder if they’re having a boy or a girl?

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new comedy about the invention of the vibrator required a light hand (pun extremely intended!) when it came to shooting scenes of Victoria women, uh, enjoying their treatment. So how does a filmmaker shoot such delicate material? “We had orgasm rehearsal!” Hysteria director Tanya Wexler explained. “We didn’t want it to sound porny, but we also didn’t what it to sound incredibly absurd.”
Seeing as how this is cinema, not Skinemax, Wexler and her male leads Hugh Dancy and Jonathan Pryce also had to get crafty with how they shot scenes featuring the good doctors, er, tending to their lady patients before the ingenious invention arrives. “They can’t just kind of fake it,” Wexler said (pun unintended!). “There was a lot of uncomfortable brainstorming until Hugh was like, ‘Can we just use a sandbag?’ Jonathan, after two days of shooting, comes up to me and says, ‘I rubbed the skin off the knuckles of my hand.’” We call that dedication to the craft!
While Gyllenhaal’s brassy protagonist Charlotte doesn’t face any problems that are quite so graphic, she still got inventive developing her character. “I wasn’t concerned at all with her being historically accurate,” Maggie explained. “I just wanted her to be alive and wild and full of being a woman. She could be from any time, any planet.”
A friend tweeted us this trailer for Hysteria a while ago and we can’t wait to watch it! The movie — and it looks brilliantly acted — deals with the creation of the vibrator and stars Hugh Dancy and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Dancy plays Dr. Mortimer Glanville, a doctor who administers cures for female hysteria — considered to be an actual condition for women in Victorian England. The best cure for the was “manual massage” — if you catch our drift. This boggles our mind. You actually had doctors who had to “cure” you by giving you a happy ending? Legally! Only then it was called “hysterical paroxysm”.
Maggie stars as the woman who tells Dancy’s character about what women really want. Especially after the invented the “electrical feather duster” to do his job. Considering the subject matter of the film, and all that vibrator talk, Maggie must’ve felt particularly empowered. She also decided to pass the love along, telling the press at the Toronto Film Festival, “I gave everybody, cast and crew, a little bullet vibrator when we started. It was expensive!” But a kind deed is almost always returned by the universe. Maggie added, “By the time I finished the movie I’d been sent maybe 15 vibrators by different people in London with vibrator stores.”

Never ever diss the wardrobe department. So when they have an awards show, you put on your best dress, your sharpest suit and attend. At the 13th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, held at the swanky Beverly Hilton hotel, the stars did just that. We’d also like to pack Kellan Lutz in our suitcase and take him everywhere with us. The Twilight star wore the hell out of a suit, making us unabashedly drool over our keyboard.
We’ll have to say that no one could hold a candle against Halle Berry, though. The actress looked better than we’ve ever seen her (and that’s no mean feat) in a gorgeous deep pink — some blogs say red, but it looks pink to us — Elie Saab gown. Kristen Davis came a not-so-distant second in an unusual retro ivory and black polka-dotted Oscar de la Renta. Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore put on a united happy front, and the actress rocked it, as usual, in a blue strapless number.

Claire Danes looked amazing sitting in the front row of the Giorgio Armani Paris Fashion Week show with husband Hugh Dancy. For a show that had so many fashion luminaries sitting on the sidelines, Danes was, in our opinion, one of the only ones who actually looked good. American Vogue editor Anna Wintour and French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld looked a little haggard, while socialite/fashion icon Daphne Guinness and her teensy-weensy waist just scared us. Check out all the attendees at the Armani show who were actually a very even distribution of good, bad and ugly.

Former teen screamers who think they’re too old for New Moon—some must exist—might consider a classier (albeit grammatically challenged) pic coming out, Me And Orson Welles. The Richard Linklater (Dazed & Confused) film romantically pairs High School Musical‘s Zac Efron with Claire Danes, whose run on My So-Called Life could teach Kristen Stewart a thing or two about teen angst. The pair were in Manhattan to screen the film last night, joined such stars as Danes’ husband Hugh Dancy, Amber Rose and Danes’ fellow ’90s MTV mainstay Courtney Love. Check out their red carpet fashion in the gallery below.

OMG – Angela Chase has got married to someone way hotter than Jordan Catalano. For anyone under the age of about 28, yes, it’s actually Claire Danes who’s got hitched to her hot British actor boyfriend Hugh Dancy. The under-the-radar pair wed earlier this month in France, with no further details forthcoming about exactly when or where.
The couple has been together since 2006, and have kept their romance pretty low-key – especially considering Claire was at the centre of a scandal in 2004, when Billy Crudup left his then-pregnant girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker for her. We’re just hoping against hope that the newlyweds double-barrell their surnames to create the brilliant new Dancy-Danes or Danes-Dancy combo. Congratulations!
When celebrities get engaged, it’s all about love – yeah right! When stars decide to get hitched, everyone will be looking at the engagement ring, so it better be a good one! When Hayden Christensen recently popped the question to OC starlet Rachel Bilson, he did a very good job of picking out a classy diamond for his lady love. How did other stars fare when they decided to make their love forever? From Jennifer Hudson to Beth Ostrosky to Carmen Electra, it’s all about the bling.
