Tonight’s Screen Actors Guild Awards were not as tipsy-casual as the Golden Globes nor as formal as the Oscars almost certainly will be, but they were still chock full of funny, touching quotes from everyone from Amy Poehler to Tina Fey to Dick Van Dyke. And while it technically was not “out loud” and therefore does not count as a quote, did everyone see Bryan Cranston‘s adorable daughter mouth “I love you, Dad” while he was onstage? After we finished dying over how cute that was, we rounded up all our favorite bon mots from tonight’s ceremony for your reading pleasure:
Classic black never goes out of style. There may have been a fair amount of neutrals and grays and bold colors on the 2012 Sag Awards red carpet last night, but black actually outnumbered them all. None of the gowns veered towards goth territory, either, as all the styles went the romantic or slightly edgy route.
We saw drapes on the likes of Melissa McCarthy’s Badgley Mischka, Archie Panjabi’s one-shouldered Carolina Herrera and Angelina Jolie’s Jenny Packham halter-necked gown. The latter was a little too safe for our liking. Wearing the same designer was Ashlee Simpson, whose dress was similar to the number Vanessa Hudgens wore to the People’s Choice Awards. No contest here: Ashlee wore the better version.
Amber Heard killed it in a Zac Posen cut-out dress and guess who wore the same designer? Glenn Close! She rocked that gown and her compatriot Jessica Lange did the same in a slinky sequined David Meister number. Both the ladies are still so sexy in their 60s! Joining the sequin brigade was Jayma Mays‘ beautiful Reem Acra gown with a dramatic demi-train. We saw a lot of lace overlay as well, whether it was in Amber Riley’s Badgley Mischka, Stacy Keibler’s Marchesa or Emma Stone’s custom Alexander McQueen. We’d also like to hand out top marks to our favourite 30 Rock ladies for bringing on the fabulous. Tina Fey looked very sexy in her vintage Versace gown as did Jane Krakowski in Antonio Berardi. Everyone did really good here, and black was anything but boring. The only celebrity we wish had upped the stakes was Glee’s Heather Morris. Her half-sheer Masai Payan dress just didn’t work.
We’d love to hear your opinions so click through our gallery and sound off in the comments section.

30 Rock stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski stopped by The Today Show this morning to discuss their show’s long-awaited sixth season, set to air (finally!) this Thursday. But the two funny ladies took a break from business for a moment to talk about their an even bigger news story: Beyonce’s birth to daughter Blue Ivy! Tina and Jane have something of a personal connection to Bey’s big news, having both given birth in the same New York City hospital as the diva. However, neither got spoiled by the docs quite like Beyonce apparently did.
“We had very similar experiences to Beyonce and Jay-Z,” said Jane sarcastically, alluding to Lenox Hill Hospital staff allegedly rolling out the red carpet for the famous couple. “My celebrity treatment at Lenox Hill involved taking a group breastfeeding class in a closet,” Fey added. “It’s clearly supposed to be a storage closet, with a bunch of other mothers, and a nurse grabs one of your breasts and another lady’s and is shoving them in a baby’s mouth.” But despite this, Fey has nothing but love for the Lenox Hill medical staff. Check out what else they have to say on motherhood, and 30 Rock (!) in the video below.
The red carpet at tonight’s Emmy Awards contained very few duds and a whole lot of “dayum!” Underdog and relative red carpet rookie Aubrey Plaza took our crown for Best Dressed in her Juan Carlos Obando white gown and retro fabulous hair. The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev was a close runner-up in a dramatic, hourglass supreme Donna Karan. Best Actress in a Comedy Series winner Julie Bowen dazzled in an uber deep v-neck Oscar De La Renta and we loved Amy Poehler‘s unique Peter Som navy frock.
Star of tomorrow and Best Dressed honorable mention Kiernan Shipka confirmed she will essentially be a teenager by the time Mad Men returns in an adorable metallic dress and glittery heels. Check out our 15 Best Dressed at the 2011 Emmys below! [Photos: Getty Images]
Listen up, Fives. A Ten is giving birth. US Weekly reports that 30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski gave birth to baby boy Bennett last week, presumably named after that wild night Jenna spent with Tony Bennett in an ATM kiosk in Dubai. “Bennett is an amazing, healthy sweet boy and we are both just crazy in love with him,” the actress said in a statement. Bennett is Krakowski’s only child with fiance Robert Godley. Here’s hoping he will follow in Jenna’s footsteps to The Royal Tampa Academy of Dramatic Tricks!
After a clearly-preggo pic of Jane Krakowski hit the web earlier today, she and fiance Robert Godley confirmed to E! News that they’re expecting their first child. While we’re super happy for the hilarious actress, we’re also dying to see how Tina Fey writes the baby bump into 30 Rock. Could Jenna Maroney get knocked up by her drag queen ex-boyfriend? We can only hope.
For years, the show Entourage has confused us. Main character Vincent Chase and his lovable gang of loser sidekicks hang around in L.A., living off of Vinnie’s multi-million dollar salary because he is the Leo DiCaprio of this fictional world, the A-list actor everyone loves. And yet Adrian Grenier, the actor who plays the perpetually laid-back and unshaven Vinnie, is not. Grenier is B-list or maybe even C-list when it comes to his fame, not even coming close to the superhero roles Vinnie gets (remember the time he was Anne Hathaway‘s boyfriend in The Devil Wears Prada? We barely do either!) I mean, how bad is it that the guy playing his agent is more famous than he is in real life?
So with the premiere of the new season of Entourage and poor Adrian/Vinnie as our inspiration, we thought of ten other actors who sadly are not nearly as famous as the roles they play on TV and in the movies. We have hope that some of them will someday make it to the big time, but unfortunately, for some others, the time seems to have passed. Click through our gallery to see the actors who wish they were their on-screen counterparts.
Leighton Meester needs a fashion intervention fast. We realize the Gossip Girl actress wants to have an identity outside of her Blair Waldorf character (where is that Emmy nomination?). But just because Blair has terrific fashion sense, that doesn’t mean Leighton has to dress like a Bai Ling in training. We normally chuckle at her ridiculous outfits, but wearing a fringe cape to the premiere of your new major motion picture (Tina Fey and Steve Carell‘s Date Night) isn’t just embarrassing, but potentially destructive to your career. There are too many attractive young things in Hollywood for execs to bother hiring one that makes a mess on their red carpet. And that’s what this outfit is. Someone stop her…before it’s too late!
See Meester, Fey and Carell—as well as guests like Ben Stiller and Hugh Jackman—in the Date Night NY movie premiere gallery below.
