What happens when actors decide to take a stab at directing? A lot. Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford have made the transition look easy, earning accolades and Oscars their directorial work. But for others, the road is a lot less golden. See: Jason Alexander‘s little-seen For Better or Worse. No, the Seinfeld curse is not limited to television…
Which famous couple were seen during their vacation? Jason Bateman seriously needs a swear jar, and the man behind one of Hollywood’s familiar voices passes away.
Is Lindsay Lohan doing well at rehab? Who did Arrested Development‘s Jason Bateman mistake the Workaholics cast for? And who might play Hillary Clinton on the big screen?
Brad Pitt surprises World War Z fans, Eva Longoria‘s hard work pays off, and the critics provide their takes on Hangover III.
To tell you the truth, even though we knew that Mitch Hurwitz and company were working on 13 new episodes of Arrested Development to stream on Netflix in early 2013, to be followed by a movie, we were scared to believe it would actually happen. Like the series itself, it seemed too good to exist in our current reality. But this weekend, Jason Bateman tweeted irrefutable proof that the cast is back on set. “My son, arriving yesterday,” he wrote, with a photo of Michael Cera in what looks like the Bluth model home, resurrected from the dead (sinkhole). He captioned another photo, “A grandson, looking for his Gangee.”
OK, so Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde’s fish-mouth kiss happened while filming The Longest Week in Brooklyn today, rather than, say, during a romantic date to the aquarium. That being said, that is truly one awkward lip lock. Are we all supposed to be opening our jaws that wide? Have we been doing it wrong this entire time? While we might personally prefer to do our weird, uncomfortable smooching in the privacy of our own homes, we do enjoy cringing at awkward PDAs, provided there are famous peeps involved. With that in mind, please enjoy some of our favorite awkward celeb PDAs. You know they did.

It’s the most anticipated reunion since the Beatles! The cast of Arrested Development is back together for another season plus a full length motion picture, and we’re so excited we think we just blue ourselves. Ever since the show was criminally taken off the air back in 2006, we’ve had a Bluth-sized hole in our hearts big enough for G.O.B to drive a Segway through. But Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, David Cross, and all the rest of your favorites (even Michael Cera) are signed on for the new installment of the greatest family crime saga this side of The Godfather. Huzzah!
Looking up every star to have crossed the Bluth family’s path would be like going through the Hollywood phonebook, but we’ve checked in with a few of the usual suspects to see what they’ve been up to since last saw them in the model home. So sit back, relax, and have a frozen banana as you enjoy the Bluth family album!

The Mr. Manager of Television has heard our prayers, and now is the time to rejoice! We’ve all been hoping that the ground breaking cult classic Arrested Development would take a trip from the small screen to the silver screen, but we’re about to get more Bluth family updates than we ever dreamed of. It was announced this Sunday at The New Yorker Festival that the show is also set to return to the airwaves for another season! “It’s true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie,” tweeted series hero Jason Bateman. “Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early ’13. VERY excited!” All of the original cast is slated to return, including Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi and David Cross.
Although the show was cancelled amid much controversy in 2006, the legend (and fan base) of the show has continued to grow ever since. Though nearly all of the cast has gone on to Hollywood mega-fame, devotees of all ages have been clamoring for a reunion of any kind. Yes, Arrested Development is like the Beatles of television sitcoms. There has been talk of a movie for years, but the details always proved impossibly hard to nail down. Series creator Mitch Hurwitz explained that the problems were less about actor involvement, and more about intellectual copyright. “We don’t completely own the property,” he told festival attendees yesterday. “There are business people and studios and that kind of thing.”
But despite the problems in the business end, Hurwitz says that the juices have been flowing creatively. “I’ve been working on the screenplay for a long time,” he says, “and I found that as time went by there was so much more to the story.” To fill audiences in on what the family has been doing in the five years since we’ve seen them, he aims give each character an episode in which to dive into their backstory. This “limited series” will then lead into the feature film. We’re so excited, we think we just blue ourselves.
What’s been getting into Hollywood lately!? Everyday it seems like there’s another celebrity pregnancy to report. Did somebody drop some Luther Vandross into the LA water supply or something? We’ve told you that Hilary Duff, Jason Bateman, and Beyonce (!) all have babies on the way, and now you can add Robert Downey Jr. to Celeb Lamaze class. Yes, RDJ is expecting a child with Susan Levin, his wife of six years, according to Star Magazine.
“The baby is due in February,” says Susan’s aunt, Nancy Miller. “Susan’s father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it.” It’s still too early to tell if the Iron Baby will be a boy or a girl. “It [doesn't] really matter if it’s a boy or a girl. What really matters is that the baby is healthy.” Although a first time for Susan, this is Robert’s second time becoming a parent. His first child, Indio Falconer Downey, was born in 1993 to his first wife, Deborah Falconer. Congrats to the happy couple!

Jason Bateman‘s family is getting a little bigger, as it’s been revealed that The Change-Up star is expecting a second daughter with wife of ten years, Amanda Anka. The couple had their first child, Francesca Nora Bateman, in 2006. Amanda’s father, legendary singer-songwriter Paul Anka took to Entertainment Tonight Canada to share the good news with the world. “I’m going to be a grandfather again,” he said proudly. He also confirmed that the little bundle will be “another baby girl.” We send our best wishes to the happy (and expanding) family! Hey Jason, you know what’s the best way to welcome a newborn into the world? With an Arrested Development movie. Just sayin…
