Is it OK that we just spent hours upon end staring at photos of other people’s children? Too late! And now we invite you to do it too. You know you love to bask in the cuteness of the Jolie-Pitts, Beckhams, Dem Babies, B.I.C. and other celebrity offspring. But how well can you identify them? Test yourself here!
Before we say anything about the lovely actresses who attended the Directors Guild Of America Awards on Saturday night in Hollywood, we want to proclaim our love for Quvenzhane Wallis, who blows everyone else out of the water. This 9-year-old has so much style and personality that she floors us. Check her out in her custom-made David Meister hot-pink satin frock. And that bulldog bag. Best-dressed, for sure. Almost looking as good as Miss Q was Jennifer Garner, who’s really upping it in the style stakes these days. She looked lovely in a pure white Antonio Berardi Resort 2013 fitted dress, complemented with Cartier jewelry and a silver Ferragamo clutch and pumps of the same color and same brand. Berenice Bejo was slinky in a black and gold sequined, drop-waist Pre-Fall 2013 Louis Vuitton look. Her clutch and sandals were by LV too, and everything was tied together by her blood-red matte lipstick and side-swept curls.
Lena Dunham wore a custom, color-blocked, strapless Thakoon frock that would have been awesome (we love hot pink and orange together) had the fit been better. The back also had a sash which was on its way to becoming this cool obi-like, belt detailing. We wish they had committed to that and gone all the way. Because it all ended up looking a bit sloppy and we would’ve yanked her dress up all night, had we have been around her. Anne Hathaway wore a look we adored: a baroque-patterned Valentino Fall 2012 Couture dress that looked so fresh, yet edgy, yet feminine on her that we’re almost barfing with “Love me, Valentino, Love, me!” How adorable is her hair getting too? Do we wish she had worn something better than the Casedei heels she had on? Sure. But we don’t need to look at her feet because the face and dress make us happy. Have a look at the gallery to see the looks in full and to check out who else was there.
Way to up the glamour factor, ladies. Nothing like a hit of precious metal done really well at an awards show, right? So we must all bow down and thank Jennifer Garner and Naomi Watts for providing that high-voltage hit for all of us at last night’s SAG Awards. Jennifer was more fabulous than we’ve seen her in years, wearing a strapless gold Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2013 gown. The actress worked it with soft, burnished curls framing her face, gorgeous glowing skin and a rose lip — hallelujah, because her hair and makeup normally lets her down. A matching dull gold clutch and David Webb jewelry completed the look. Look at the embroidery, beading and sequins on the gown. It’s so beautifully done and such a strong statement to make — I’m effing amazing and I know it and so do you. Naomi was the silver to Jen’s gold but no less exquisite. Soft waves swept over one shoulder a beautiful matte pink totally complemented her shimmering, intricate, crystal and silver embroidered Marchesa gown. And like Jennifer, she also matched her little box clutch with her gown with the addition of Faberge jewelry, of which her sapphire ring made our eyes pop (look at her left hand, helpfully placed on her hip.) We really can’t choose who looked best, so you’re going to have to vote and do it for us.
Ben Affleck is back in the spotlight now that his film Argo is doing the promotions rounds. Critics are already fawning over the movie, so that’s a good sign. He’s also on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter this week and the subject of an indepth interview which deals a lot with, not just the film, but the difference of who he is now — chilled husband and father — with his past as a party boy. That included going to rehab at 29, of which he says, “ went to rehab for being 29 and partying too much and not having a lot of boundaries and to clear my head and try to get some idea of who I wanted to be. It was more a ‘let me get myself straight,’ before it became a rite of passage.” His past also includes his ex-girlfriends, who he’s still in touch with, including Gwyneth Paltrow, his high school girlfriend, Cheyenne Rothman, and more importantly, the other half of the original “Bennifer” — Jennifer Lopez. It’s good to know that Ben’s the kind of guy who doesn’t hold on to anything bad, like messy break-ups, and is actually on friendly terms with all three ladies. Mostly, J.Lo, and he opens up about their current relatioship in this piece, revealing, “We don’t have the kind of relationship where she relies on me for advice, but we do have the kind of relationship where there’ll be an e-mail saying, ‘Oh, your movie looks great.’ I remember when she got American Idol. I said: ‘This was really smart. Good luck.’ I touch base. I respect her. I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful.” And here we were thinking that there was a morotorium on all things Lopez when the main Jennifer (Jennifer Garner, his wife) entered his life!
Well, hello there, ladiez. Argo — a film directed by and starring Ben Affleck — premiered yesterday in Beverly Hills, and Ben’s wife, Jennifer Garner, stole the limelight. She was a siren in a red, fitted crepe Monique Lhuillier dress with leather panels, with a Bulgari “Serpenti” collection bag and jewelry. She’s really feeling the color these days, considering she wore a red Gucci gown to the premiere of Butter in New York just a couple of days ago. This is a much better outfit, due to the effort put into her hair, makeup and accessories. She’s getting stiff competition though, from one Stacy Keibler, Ben’s best pal, George Clooney‘s girlfriend. Stacy looked unbelievable in a vintage black Azzedine Alaia silk dress with cut-outs on the sides and a racer-back which dipped very low. She paired it with gorgeous strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels, a Valentino studded clutch and Neil Lane jewels. Keep the wolf whistles coming for both. In fact, the ladies looked so lovely, that their respective partners couldn’t keep their hands off them. Look below to see Clooney coping a feel and Affleck going in for the kiss! Can you blame them for trying? Both Stacy’s and Jen’s bodies are unreal!
Hasn’t Butter taken its own sweet time to get to the U.S? I remember Olivia Wilde wearing this Grecian Marchesa gown to the world premiere of the film last year in Toronto. So now that it’s here, expect promotions in every city, which isn’t the worst thing in the world since it’s the cast comprising Olivia, Jennifer Garner and Ashley Greene doing the rounds. While Olivia went medieval with her event-wear last year, this year nixed the time travel and decided to bring out the best of this century’s designers. That sexy skin-tight white dress is by Alexander McQueen dress as is the boxy metallic clutch. Her gold court shoes are by Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and the earrings are House of Lavande. We bet she wore McQueen yesterday at Jon Stewart as well! Speaking of talk shows, co-star, Jennifer, was on Ellen as well, looking quite lovely in cornflower blue. She busted out that red Gucci yesterday which also looks amazing on her, but we do have a minor quibble about her lack of accessories. The makeup may be ace but it’s nothing new on Jennifer and I wish she would take some more risks, especially since she decided to go Gucci. Lastly, Ashley brings up the flank in a blush-colored, demure Donna Karan SS13 wrap-dress. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to find this dress a tad nightgown-ish or blousy, but I happen to think it looks charming and vintage on her. Especially with those lovely side-swept tumbling waves! Perhaps a different shoe would have worked better, though. Your turn now. Give us your critiques. Who worked their dress most?
It is without a doubt amusing to watch Jennifer Garner in interviews. She always seems like the bubbly popular girl in high school who would go out of her way to befriend the class nerd. We can’t wait to see what she does on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, after watching the above expert, in which she struggles to remember how old her son Samuel is and talks about husband Ben Affleck’s “wonder sperm” and his affinity for tea parties with their daughters while he’s half asleep. But if you’re as avid an Alias fan as I am, you will also be a little bit saddened by Jen’s sweet-natured airheadedness in this chat. It looks like Hollywood success and motherhood have erased all remnants of the woman who once saved the world from the Covenant. On the bright side, Butter looks really funny. Just because misery loves company, I’m sharing five ways in which Jen is sadly no Sydney Bristow:
1. Sydney Bristow speaks 25 languages: English, Russian, German, Greek, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Romanian, Hungarian, Hebrew, Uzbek, Arabic, Urdu, Indonesian, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Vietnamese, Czech and Bulgarian. (According to the Alias Wikia, because I lost count.)
Jen has to take a minute to remember her children’s names. (For the record, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.)
2. Sydney can juggle getting a graduate degree in English Lit with working for a black-ops unit of the CIA.
Jen sometimes forgets where she put Sam down. Read more…
Before we say anything about what everyone else wore, we need to say this … HOLY SH–, CHARLIZE THERON! How does she do it? And by that we mean, how does she look like that? The CinemaCon 2012 Awards Ceremony went down at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas last night, and Charlize slinked down the red carpet wearing the sexiest, raciest Dion Lee LBD in the history of all little black dresses. The fact that she wore strappy Giuseppe Zanotti heels didn’t hurt either. Take a bow, Charlize.
Also wearing black at the same event were Jennifer Garner and Michelle Pfeiffer. Jennifer wasn’t quite working her Michael Kors dress, perhaps because it should have been worn with different shoes. The ones she had on looked like bandages and were far too clunky. Michelle defied age in her a sheer-panelled dress that showed off a rocking bod. Our favorite, other than Charlize, would be Chloe Moretz who wore a metallic dark blue Kenzo dress with hidden slant pockets.
Other celebrities who attended included the likes of Josh Hutcherson, Anna Faris and Jeremy Renner, to name a few.
It’s a boy and he already has a name! Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner had their third baby earlier this week, on February 27, in Santa Monica. He joins older sisters Violet, 6, and Seraphina, who is 3. Mom and Dad are having them like clockwork every three years, huh? We couldn’t wait to hear what they would name their first son, and we had a feeling it was going to be something charming and old-world, just like their daughters’ names. We were right. Ben announced on his Facebook page, “We are happy to announce on February 27, Jennifer gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Samuel Garner Affleck.” We also reckon that Ben is rather happy about the gender ratio evening out in the house. Congratulations to all of them. They’re the cutest family in Hollywood!
