Remember how Scarlett Johansson told Flare magazine that she was the “only girl in the film,” and that she is “obviously going to be more aware that I’m surrounded by a bunch of suits. Everybody is going to be wearing black and grey and it will be nice to add femininity and some female sex appeal to the lineup. I think I’ll steer clear of the tuxedo”? She was talking, of course, about her film The Avengers, which premiered last night in L.A. And no matter how much “female sex appeal” she brought, the men were the clear winners of this round.
Scarlett herself wore a little black dress by Versace which we’re still trying to love, but all eyes were on the dudes. Robert Downey Jr. was flamboyant in an eggplant suit while Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans and Jeremy Renner were all sharp in different shades of gray. Alexander Skarsgard looked totally hot in a black suit, sans tie and white shirt and was accompanied by his father, Stellan Skarsgard. Samuel L. Jackson brought on his A-game in white. A smattering of other celebrities attended as well, and to see what Aisha Tyler, Mark Ruffalo, Dominic Monaghan and such wore, take a look at our gallery below.

We’re as tired as anyone of Charlie Sheen and his Violent Torpedo Of Truth tour, but as pop culture nerds who get nostalgic for our youth, our ears perked up when we heard some of the tidbits from Charlie’s latest show. While performing in Toronto this week, Charlie reportedly divulged that the first (of many, um, lucky) lady celebs that he had sex with was Jennifer Grey, his co-star in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. We wonder if he called her Shauna?
Sheen also said on stage that his very best friends in the world are Sean Penn, Nicolas Cage and his dad, Martin Sheen. We know for a fact that Sheen is close with Cage and his father, but the Sean Penn thing seems weird. Like how Lindsay Lohan says she’s best friends with James Franco. Of course, given that we don’t really believe much of what Sheen says, all these things could be untrue (and Ferris Bueller and Sean Penn would remain in our good graces), so believe what you will, this is a crazy person we’re talking about.

rnrnThe Tea Party may have won several midterm election races this year, but they could not band together tight enough to pull off a win for their favorite daughter, Bristol Palin. Palin lost the finale of Dancing With The Stars last night to Jennifer Grey who had some dirty (dancing) tricks up her sleeve, but was clearly the people’s choice.rnrnPrior to last night’s final dance-off, Palin, ever the classy broad, said that if she won “It would feel like a big middle finger to all the people out there who hate my mom and hate me.” Now that she’s lost, we can only assume she understands that the metaphorical middle finger she speaks of has been directed at her and her mom all along. Palin actually came in third behind Grey and the dancer everyone loves to ignore, Kyle Massey. Due to serious back problems (likely a result of carrying too many watermelons), Grey wasn’t sure she’d be able to compete in the finale, so her win means that much more given her injuries. While Grey plans to take some time to recover (and possibly appear on Glee), Palin says “I’m just going to see what God has in store for Tripp and I. Tripp’s going to be a little ballroom dancer, too!” Dancing With The Children Of The Stars In 2030, y’all! rnrn[Photo: Courtesy of ABC]
Anyone who has waited through the duration of this season of Dancing With The Stars to see Jennifer Grey bust out some of her Dirty Dancing moves will be disappointed. The show comes to a close tonight and even though it’s sort of the perfect place for Grey to pay tribute to her co-star Patrick Swayze and just pull out some of the old moves we love so much, Grey isn’t about to give us the one thing we all want: The Lift.
The move she and Swayze made famous, the thing that released Baby Houseman from the shackles of the legendary corner she was put in, it will not be ours to behold. Why, you ask? Because Grey, like us, is older than she once was. She’s creaky. And her doctor told her not to. The actress has had three neck surgeries in recent years which rule out the famous move, so Grey told People, “I won’t be doing the lift in the finals. Everyone should not expect that.” Still, the fifty-year-old (!) has surpassed even her own expectations on the show, and says the experience of competing “so surpassed my wildest dreams.” Guess you could say she’s had the time of her life. Right? Guys?
Dozens of almost forgotten B-listers turned out last night to pay tribute to the reason they’re still relevant. Dancing With The Stars celebrated it’s 200th episode last night with a party at Boulevard 3 in Hollywood, and all of your favorite hot-to-trot familiar faces were on hand!
Old alums John O’Hurley, Cheryl Burke, Stacy Keibler and newly-lipped Lisa Rinna strutted their dancing shoes across the red carpet, and current contestants Bristol Palin, Florence Henderson and Jennifer Grey were also in attendance. It’s amazing to think that only five years ago, seeing out-of-work actors tango and awkwardly force sexual chemistry on TV was just a dream. Now it puts the harsh reality in “reality television.”
It’s time once again to discuss the latest batch of “stars” to rumba their way into our hearts on Dancing With The Stars! We’ve known for a few days that we’d get to see The Situation and Bristol Palin gyrate and smear spray tan all over a professional dancer, but today the complete list of celebs has been revealed and it’s actually pretty impressive. The “star” power is more potent than in past seasons – there’s hardly anyone on there that we’ve never heard of! We might not even have to use air quotes around the word “star”! In fact, a lot of these people have done work we love and respect, it’s freaky. Check out our gallery of who’s who and our predictions for how they’ll fare under the watchful eyes of Bruno, Carrie Anne and of course, Tom Bergeron.

The world will remember Patrick Swayze most for his portrayals of Johnny Castle in Dirty Dancing and Sam Wheat in Ghost. Those roles were legendary and they not only made us swoon, but they became a part of the national consciousness. “Nobody puts Baby in a corner” – did any teenage heart not want to be Baby Houseman at that very moment those words were spoken? Did anyone not want to go buy a potter’s wheel and messily make out to “Unchained Melody”?
While we fans mourn Swayze’s death, his co-stars from those films are mourning too. Jennifer Grey released a statement about her Dirty Dancing co-star, saying “Gorgeous and strong, he was a real cowboy with a tender heart. He was fearless and insisted on always doing his own stunts, so it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified. When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see.”
Whoopi Goldberg also shared her thoughts, saying “Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay. I believe in Ghost‘s message, so he’ll always be near.” And, of course Demi Moore Tweeted about her leading man “Patrick, you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives.” Personally, we think of Swayze as the quintessential leading man from our youth and he’ll definitely be missed.
