As we’ve already noted, 2013 was a transformative year for many celebs! Most of these changes had to do with dramatic hair ‘do departures, which sometimes altered their looks for the good, and other times…not so much.
Four major Hollywood actresses heated up the 2011 Oscars red carpet by wearing red gowns. Co-host Anne Hathaway (in Valentino) and Sandra Bullock (in Vera Wang) both look classically sexy in strapless numbers with modest trains and matching red lipstick. Presenter Jennifer Hudson, in a Versace gown that’s more blood-orange than blood-red, went with a retro updo and cat eyes. But it was relative newbie Jennifer Lawrence who may have turned the most heads, possibly because her tight-fitting red Calvin Klein gown is the polar opposite from her Winter’s Bone look. E! fashion commentator Kelly Osbourne called it the sexiest dress of the entire awards season. And the Oscar for Sexiest Lady in Red goes to …

There were plenty of big stars on the Oscar red carpet, but the biggest might have been Natalie Portman, whose pregnancy has given her far more curves than she was showing in Black Swan. Check out the mega-gallery below to see everyone from Amy Adams to Russell Brand‘s mom giving up the glam on their way to the Academy Awards.

American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson‘s new album art has been released, and Hudson looks fantastic on the cover photo. The singer and recent Weight Watchers spokeswoman has lost a lot of weight over the past couple years (she reportedly dropped 5 dress sizes) and looks like a goddess on the cover of I Remember Me. Apparently not everyone believes that it’s all her in the photo though, as Hudson Tweeted recently “I’m online reading comments about my album cover. Yes that’s my real size n yes my arms n hands are that long.” So let’s put that question to rest, okay people? The girl looks great and it’s all her. The album comes out on March 22.
Another American Idol alum who’s in the news for her transforming body is Fantasia. The Idol winner is in the process of gaining a whopping 45 pounds in order to play Mahalia Jackson in an upcoming film about the gospel singer. Filming begins in May. When asked about the weight gain, Fantasia’s manager joked that she wasn’t expecting a child, but that she is “pregnant with prosperity.” We should all have jobs that require us to eat tubs of ice cream for four months straight. Does this film need any chubby extras?

Rest easy, everyone! Singer Jennifer Hudson denies being in the Illuminati, the centuries-old secret society that some (read: conspiracy theorists and/or nutbars) credit with bestowing fame on a lucky few. “I’m so glad someone brought this Illuminati mess up because only a child of God would address it,” Hudson told fans during a Ustream chat session. “That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard in my life. And it’s offensive because basically what? The people that are here today don’t deserve to be where they are? What, we didn’t work for it?” We certainly don’t think someone as talented as Hudson would have had to join the dark arts to win an Academy Award. Megan Fox, however, seems like she might have their number on speed dial.
While she might not have signed up for a lifetime membership, Hudson seems to be under the impression that the Illuminati is both 1) real and 2) something anyone can join, like Bally’s. “Don’t listen to that type of stuff, don’t follow that stuff because those people are only luring you in to become a part of some mess like that, so know that you’re only falling victim,” Hudson, who released her new single “Where You At?” this week, cautioned her listeners. “That’s their way of gaining followers. I’d advise you to stay away from it. Those who are reading it are falling into it. It could not be more untrue.” So in case the Illuminati comes up to you at the mall, do not get in their van!

In news that will no doubt make Simon Cowell’s Christmas, a Christian group is comparing him to Jesus Christ. Yes, that Jesus Christ. Maybe they thought X-Factor was short for Christ-Factor. Re, the official magazine of the Assemblies of God church, claims that Cowell’s no-nonsense tough-love style is very similar to the way Christ would have behaved. We can only imagine how this makes Paula Abdul feel.
“Jesus, the one we think of as being meek and mild, gentle and loving and full of compassion, had the ability to talk tough,” explains the faith based periodical. “Some of his words were upsetting and difficult to swallow – just like Cowell’s – but he spoke truth and doesn’t the truth hurt sometimes? Simon Cowell takes, learns from them and grows in the process, and there are numerous stories in the Bible of people who do the same.” Wow, well thank goodness he’s using his powers for good! Think of all the gifts Simon has given us: Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Susan Boyle, just to name a few. But then again, he did spring William Hung on an unsuspecting world. The Simon works in cruel and mysterious ways.
As if Leslie Nielsen’s passing wasn’t sad enough, today we also mourn the digital deaths of Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and a host of other celebs. These A-listers are quitting Twitter and Facebook to raise money and awareness for the Keep A Child Alive charity, which fights AIDS all over the globe. The stars plan to boycott the social networking sites starting on World AIDS day (December 1st), and vow to stay offline until $1 million has been raised for the organization.
This “digital life sacrifice” is the brainchild of none other than Alicia Keys, who serves as the global ambassador for Keep A Child Alive. The first posters for their provocative (and morbid) ad campaign have hit the streets, featuring Kim Kardashian lounging in a coffin. Other artists, including Usher, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Seacrest, Jennifer Hudson and Elijah Wood, have filmed their “last tweet and testament” for promotional clips. It’s been over a year and a half since Jennifer Hudson‘s mother, brother and nephew were murdered but the singer is finally discussing their deaths on VH1’s Behind the Music. Hudson calls the period surrounding the murders “All a blur, it was surreal,” and says “It was like I was outside of myself.”
She says that after the murders “For almost two weeks straight . . . [I was] inside one room with just family and friends coming in and out. I prayed when I’d get up in the morning and prayed before I laid down at night.” She only began to open up about her loss at  the 2009 Grammys when she sang “You Pulled Me Through” on stage. In the time since the tragedy, Hudson has a baby boy with her fiance David Otunga and will star as Winnie Mandela in the upcoming film Winnie, a biopic about the South African civil rights leader.
The Behind The Music episode premiered last night and will run all week long on VH1.
Crazy news: Terrence Howard has been secretly married for the last five months. The Iron Man actor (replaced by Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2) introduced wife Michelle Ghent at a cocktail party in Cannes for Winnie, his upcoming Mandela biopic with Jennifer Hudson. “To come here and be with my wife, it’s the best feeling in the world,” Howard told Anderson Cooper. “Terrence is so in love with her and she’s a great, down-to-earth girl who really understands and loves him for him,” a source told Us.
What surprises us even more than the secret marriage is that someone lived up Terrence’s notorious standards for female partners. After all, Howard is anti-premarital sex (“Afterward, I would feel unclean…so I would have to let them go because they didn’t help me to be a stronger person”), pro baby-wipes (“If they’re using dry paper, they aren’t washing all of themselves…I go in a woman’s house and see the toilet paper there, I’ll explain this. And if she doesn’t make the adjustment to baby wipes, I’ll know she’s not completely clean”) and fond of dating multiple women at once (“The greatest number of women I’ve dated was 12. I’ve had four women come to my hotel and we all painted pictures together. I was just trying to see which ones I liked the most”). Still, it looks like one lucky lady has passed the audition. See photos of Howard and his lady in Cannes below.
