Eva Longoria Parker Named “Philanthropist Of The Year”

Eva Longoria Parker received the title of Philanthrophist Of The Year from The Hollywood Reporter at a fete attended by Sheryl Crow, Kate Beckinsale and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa last night. Among her charitable activities, Longoria Parker is the national spokesperson for Padres Contra El Cancer (aiding Latino children with cancer) and the founder of Eva’s Heroes, an after-school program in her hometown of San Antonio. HR publisher Eric Mika is suitably impressed. “”I’ve never met a more conscientious and socially aware young, energetic talent,” he says. “Eva’s efforts on behalf of the causes near and dear to her are Herculean. She pours her free time and energy into raising millions of dollars for charitable missions that make a difference in the Latino community and other humanitarian organizations.” In return, Longoria Parker will be one of the presenters at the Reporter‘s upcoming Women In Hollywood breakfast next month, honoring Halle Berry.

Kevin Connolly And Gary Busey Had A Tickle Fight

gary-busey-kevin-connelly

Gary Busey‘s reputation precedes him these days – he’s been a fixture on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew, he shows up often on The Soup and he even accosted poor Jennifer Garner at the 2008 Oscars. So it’s no surprise that when he arrived on-set to play himself for a few episodes of Entourage, his co-stars might be nervous about his odd behavior. What they weren’t prepared for was the tickling.

Kevin Connolly, who plays Eric on the HBO series, said recently that while Busey was guest starring on the show back in 2007, he would try to physically pin Connolly down and tickle him in between takes. Said Connolly of the totally bizarro behavior:  “He’s looking at me… and he’s like, ‘Kevin, you and I are going to play a game called tickle and pee.’ I said, ‘Gary, please, I’m 33 years old. It’s emasculating.’ He’s chasing me around on the set. I’m running away from Gary Busey on my set and Gary Busey is freakishly strong. He caught me ultimately and he tickled me. I felt like I was in fifth grade again.”

We’ve heard of a lot of odd celebrity behavior, but this might be some of the weirdest. We just hope Kevin didn’t end up peeing his pants.  [Photos: GettyImages]

EXCLUSIVE Oscars Dispatch: Jen, Angelina No Shows At ‘Night Before’ Party

Guests of the exclusive pre-Oscars Night Before party at the Beverly Hills Hotel last night were sorely disappointed if they were expecting a showdown between Brad Pitt‘s babymama Angelina Jolie and his ex Jennifer Aniston. Both actresses opted out of the star-studded glitzy bash and avoided an awkward run in.

Although Brad’s ladies didn’t show, there was no shortage of celebrities at the event. Leonardo DiCaprio sat at a table with model girlfriend Bar Rafaeli and chatted with pal and Entourage star Kevin Connolly. Although Bar just graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in a teeny-weeny bikini, she certainly doesn’t starve herself to get her sleek figure. Bar was eating like she hadn’t eaten in weeks. The leggy model had almost one of every gourmet dish served at the bash — rapidly poking her fork into each dish and shoving heaping servings of food into her mouth.

In addition to Leo and crew, guests like John Malkovich wandered around the glamorous outdoor bash at the hotel’s pool area, which was covered for the party. Major Hollywood power players like Jeffrey Katzenberg and Harvey Weinstein discussed upcoming projects while Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett cracked jokes. At one point Amy practically wailed at something that Tina said. (Apparently, she’s hilarious off-screen as well as on.)

Although the party had plenty of star power, it was remarkably more low key than last year’s event. No gift bags were handed out and decorations were pared down. The invitation noted “casual attire.” Most men showed up in sport coats or collared shirts, but the women still opted for elegant dresses.

The soiree was not without controversy, as a swarm of protesters assembled in front of the hotel who felt the glitzy bash was not an appropriate use of the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s money — especially considering it just shut down its hospital and nursing home.
