The timing and mood of the Teen Choice Awards make the show a great place to see young Hollywood and music stars show off their relaxed, beachy best. Unfortunately, it seems like too many of these stars seem to think it’s a good time to give their stylists the day off and get a little TOO relaxed. A lot of the celebs you’ll see in the gallery below are not offensively dressed, necessarily. It’s just that we wish Selena Gomez, Nikki Reed, Darren Criss and the like would have taken bigger risks and had more fun with their outfits. Others, especially lesser known stars like Crystal Reed or frequent risk-takers like TCA co-hosts Kevin McHale and Demi Lovato, took their risks a little too far. We don’t want to punish you for trying, guys. It’s just that someone had to make this list.
I don’t know if it was when we saw that Ellen DeGeneres‘ best guests ever Sophia Grace and Rosie were in the audience, or when Kevin McHale and Demi Lovato started sharing embarrassing bits (boy band footage and stage pics!) about each other’s early years as child stars in Dallas, but you could tell early on that the 2012 Teen Choice Awards was going to be full of cuteness. Here are our favorite adorable moments from the show. Let us know yours in the comments!
“This is the best thing that’s ever happened!” Sophia Grace squealed as she and Rosie received miniature surfboards for Choice Web Star. She is the best thing that’s ever happened, actually. Read more…
OMG! Kathy Beth Terry, you’re so lucky your parents are Corey Feldman and Debbie Gibson, or else you’d be in big trouble, young lady! HAH. Seriously though, Kathy’s alter-ego and all around ham Katy Perry‘s Last Friday Night (TGIF) video has us tripping! All the promotional activity Kathy-Katy did — the Kathy Beth Terry Twitter account and Facebook page — did not prepare us for the awesomeness of this video. It’s 80′s overload with the whole ‘ugly ducking morphing into the swan’ cliche included. But it’s the cameo’s that have us in splits. Apart from Corey and Debbie, the partystarter in the video is none other than …. Rebecca Black! Insert whatever “Friday” puns you’d like to here.
That’s not all, peeps. While Rebecca’s responsible for Kathy’s makeover in the video (she waxes her mustache off), cool Uncle Kenny a.k.a Kenny G and Hanson make an appearance too! And if that wasn’t enough, how about Glee‘s Kevin McHale as her dorky knight in shining armor? Darren Criss is in there too, as a frat-boy type. This song has summer hit written all over it. Watch the video and let us know what you think.
You know the old saying, “If you like it, then you should put a ring on it”? Well, hate to inform you but that’s so last decade, y’all. When VH1′s own Janell Snowden caught up with Glee stars Kevin McHale and Matthew Morrison on the red carpet of the Grammys last night, we got the firsthand scoop that something a little more kinky has emerged on the scene in 2011.
In case you missed his outfit last night, McHale — who you’ll know as the wheelchair-bound Artie Abrams on America’s hottest TV show — was wearing a holster-ish accessory over his shoulders. “It’s a little S&M meets James Bond,” he explained to Janell. “I’m promoting Rihanna’s new single ["S&M"]. I just need to see her and tell her we can put a leash on it.” Hi-yo!
If this were any other event, we would just assume that Johnny Knoxville, Kid Rock and Michael Kenneth Williams made poor fashion choices and then proceed to mock them mercilessly. But they were invited to the GQ Men of the Year Gala last night at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. And we were not. So we have to assume that they are just operating on a level that we mere fashion mortals cannot comprehend.
You may think these suits are sort of hideous, but in five years you’ll have one in every color! Way to stay ahead of the curve, guys. Thankfully some other ladies and gents were a little less fashion forward. Twi-Bros Kellan Lutz and Taylor Lautner donned dapper suits, Glee peeps Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale and Cory Monteith ditched their school attire, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino even kept his shirt on. Check out the hits and misses in the gallery below!
Say what you will about Glee‘s meh second season, the show is still everywhere and was celebrated last night at the TV Guide Hot List Party. And say what you will about Lea Michele (we’ve said a few thingsourselves), but that girl looks amazing lately. TV Guide also hosted stars from shows like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Dancing With The Stars as well as the Project Runway runner up, Mondo Guerra, who looks happy despite losing out to a boho-turd collection on the show. (He was robbed!) Oh, and Blossom, a.k.a. our junior high style icon, a.k.a. Mayim Bialik was there. So glad she’s making a comeback, the world needs more Blossom. (Not being sarcastic.)
