Celebrities Have Got A Lot To Say About Hurricane Sandy, We Found 10 Tweets We’d Like To Reply To

East Coast peeps, we hope you’re safe, stocked up and dry. Hurricane Sandy’s been causing all kinds of a mess but we’re staying put and waiting for it to … blow over. This too shall pass, right? So, to keep you distracted and entertained at the same time, through the Frankenstorm, we thought we’d take a gander over at celebrityville and see what the word on Twitter is. Worked for us, because we found at least 10 H’wood tweets that made us crack up in different ways. For instance, while Ricky Gervais‘ tweet made us crack up laughing, Lindsay Lohan‘s made us crack out heads against a wall. And since we can’t banter with them in person, we still got some repartee to dish out. So, we’ll just do it the best way we can — right here!

1. Ricky Gervais: Now we’re calling Sandy “Kandy” now, thanks to you, Ricky. Repping the “K”!

2. Lindsay Lohan: Right, because it’s really not that serious, L.L? World, do not take disaster advice from L.L. EVER.

Larry King’s Divorce, Like His Show, Is Over

Larry King has had a fraught couple of months. First, King’s marriage was breaking up, then his soon-to-be ex wife Shawn Southwick OD’d/attempted suicide. Then King announced he was leaving CNN after 25 of years of hosting his show. The decision to take time off has possibly helped because he and his wife have called off the divorce.

Just three months ago, King and Southwick filed for divorce within and hour of each other amidst rumors of infidelity on both sides. Keeping with the synchronized activity, both parties petitioned the the courts to drop the divorce papers, day before yesterday. All the judge needs to do is dismiss the claim and they’re officially back together. Make it work, you two!

Larry King Says Adios To CNN

It’s the end of an era! After 25 years of Larry King Live, Larry King is leaving his CNN show in the fall. In a statement the veteran host explained, “I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring, but for now it’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders.”

CNN heaped praised on the old dude as well, stating,”Larry King defined the art of the television interview. Having conducted nearly 50,000 interviews over 50-plus years in broadcasting, Larry deserves to take some time for himself and his family.”

King’s not done completely, though, as he’ll appear on specials once in a while. It feels like a good decision, with his personal life being the way it is. His wife Shawn Southwick was recently rushed to hospital due to an apparent OD. They’re also in the midst of salvaging their marriage. So a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. So, who’s going to fill his slot? Any ideas?

Southwick’s OD Was Suicide Attempt

Police are reporting that the May 28th overdose of pills taken by Shawn Southwick wife of Larry King, was indeed a suicide attempt. Southwick wrote a suicide note and burial instructions before taking several bottles of pills. She was found by her father Karl Engemann at her Provo, Utah home, and at the time, he stated that the OD was not intentional. “No, no, no. It wouldn’t be suicidal. I don’t think she did it on purpose. Last night, she seemed confused about what she had taken,” he said.

Friends reveal that Southwick had been depressed for years over the possibility that King was engaged in an extramarital affair with her sister, Shannon Engemann, and that despite an attempt to reconcile with King, her depression fueled the suicide attempt.

Old People Sex: The Larry King Saga Continues

Last week we thought it was gross when we heard the rumor that Larry King was sleeping with his wife Shawn Southwick-King‘s sister. The infidelity led Shawn to file for divorce, although now they are reportedly trying to work it out. Seems weird, right? Knowing your elderly husband is able to genetically compare you to your sister “down there?” (God, sorry, we even grossed ourselves out with that one.)

It sounds like Southwick may have committed some indiscretions of her own, which might be why she’s willing to work things out and not lay all the blame on Larry. Little League baseball coach Hector Penate claims that he and Southwick had an affair starting in 2007, and he told In Touch that her infidelity was motivated by revenge. “I really think she had the affair with me because of him and her sister,” Penate said. He also told Entertainment Tonight that Southwick would whisper sweet nothings to him, like “Don’t worry, he’s gonna die soon,” referring to Larry.

But our most favorite tidbit is that Penate and Southwick had sex while Larry’s show was on in the background. “We had sex in Larry’s bed — a lot, I had sex with Shawn while Larry was on TV. Our sex life was real good,” Penate told the magazine. Lube? Check. Mirrored ceiling? Check. Larry King’s raspy “Go ahead, caller, you’re on!” in the background? Hell yes. Who wouldn’t get turned on by that?

Cops Called On Paparazzi Outside Larry King’s House

Larry may look like a vulture, but you people really are vultures! The CNN crypt-keeper has been trapped in his Beverly Hills mansion since news of Larry King‘s impending divorce (and alleged affair with his sister-in-law) broke, having food ordered in so that he doesn’t have to face the paparazzi outside (either that or he’s just one of many 76-year-old men who didn’t leave the house today). Police were called to the residence this morning and have been stationed outside since, presumably in case the 9 or so cameramen across the street violently descend on the alleged familial philanderer when he eventually exits to interview Ann Coulter tonight (hey, for once Ann won’t be the embarrassing elephant in the room).

Tawdry tales of sister-swapping aside, King’s split from Shawn Southwick would still be a vicious one, as there was apparently no pre-nuptial agreement and the old rascal is worth over $100 million. “She is a tall, good-looking blonde and that pretty much explains it,” a source told TMZ. Hey, isn’t Ann Coulter a tall blonde? Ha cha cha! But unless Larry shows us how single septuagenarian puts moves on his guests, we’re sure this whole thing will blow over soon. Even if Larry filmed a sex tape with Shawn’s sis, someone would have to find a way to upload the Betamax footage without going blind.

An Old Guy And A Crazy Dude Are Back On The Market

Ladddddddies! Are you in the mood to make out with a grandfather? Do you want to date a guy with his own private church and a lust for liquor? You’re in luck! Yesterday both Larry King and Mel Gibson apparently became single after parting ways from their current lady loves. Oh universe, how you provide for us!

Serial husband Larry King is the first bachelor up for a new romance. The 76-year-old hunk of aging love is splitting with his 7th wife, Shawn Southwick, after 13 years together. Because no divorce can be drama free, Shawn is accusing the CNN host of cheating on her with her sister, who calls the accusations “ludicrous.” Says Shannon Engeman, “I did not have an affair with Larry. He’s been like a father to me.” Er, right. Because he’s 76 years old.

Mel Gibson is also newly single, after allegedly splitting from baby mamma Oksana Grigorieva after a year or so together. Apparently the pair, who have a baby daughter together, “just drifted apart,” which is what tends to happen when you get together with your mistress.

Get in line girls!

Corey Feldman Is Appalled At The Speculations Around Corey Haim’s Death

In the wake of Corey Haim‘s untimely death, Corey Feldman is lashing out at the media for speculating about his cause of death without all the facts. At first glance, Haim’s death appears similar to Brittany Murphy‘s – both were former drug users whose deaths were pegged as accidental overdoses, but Haim too was suffering from flu-like symptoms and taking prescription drugs at the time of his death. As a drug user who had struggled to get clean, drugs seemed an obvious conclusion, but Feldman told Larry King he’s sick of people guessing what happened. “They need to stop jumping the gun. They need to stop saying it is a drug overdose. . . Until the coroner’s report comes out and we have specific evidence and know what the toxicology reports say, nobody knows.”

Feldman also took on the Hollywood machine, saying that the entertainment industry had treated Haim cruelly. “In Hollywood we build people up as children, we put them on pedestals, and then, when we decide they’re not marketable anymore, we walk away from them. Then we taunt them and we tease them … It’s okay for society as a whole to poke fun at, to point fingers at, us as human beings. Why is it okay to kick somebody when they’re down? I don’t think it should be tolerated anymore,” he told King. Feldman plans to hold a “sizeable memorial”for his best friend, though a date has yet to be determined.

Andrew Koenig’s Parents Walk Off Larry King Live

58938618 The disappearance of Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig has befuddled the Hollywood community for over a week now, but just as mysterious was his parents’ behavior on Larry King Live last night. Actor Walter Koenig and his wife Judy were set to appear on King’s show, but after arriving to the set, the abruptly left moments before the show began to tape with no explanation.

King explained to his audience on the air that “For some reason unbeknownst to anyone, Walter Koenig, the father of the missing Andrew Koenig, and Judy Levin-Koenig…left the studio in Vancouver. We checked them out, they were prepared to go on, I said ‘hello,’ they said ‘hello.’ We said we’d be on in two minutes, they said ‘fine.’ And they got up and left for reasons unknown.”

Danielle Koenig, Andrew’s sister, explained the abrupt departure today, saying the show “kept pushing the segment back and my dad was growing frustrated. When he realized there were only four and a half minutes left he didn’t feel that was enough time to do my brother justice, so he left.” The younger Koenig, last seen on February 14 in Vancouver, has been suffering from depression and friends say he had grown despondent and distant recently. In a statement released by Walter Koenig yesterday, he appealed to Andrew saying “I just want to know you’re OK. If it means you just want to stay here, that’s OK. You don’t have to come back. Just let us know that’s your intention.”

Brittany Murphy Knew She Was Dying

alg_larry_king_simon_monjack_vid As tired as we are of seeing Brittany Murphy‘s husband, Simon Monjack, and mother Sharon making the news rounds with frivolous lawsuits and the like, their appearance on Larry King Live last Friday made us feel for them.

Sharon Murphy tearfully explained that her 32-year-old daughter told her “Mom, I’m dying,” on the morning of December 20, hours before she passed away. Monjack also said that Brittany wasn’t acting normally that day. “Her eyes were not right. They were darting off left and right and center,” he told King. The recent release of the coroner’s report cited Murphy’s cause of death as pneumonia coupled with over-the-counter medication, in contrast to the denials that Monjack made about Murphy’s drug use as a contributing factor to her death. Even on the show, Monjack maintained that stance, telling King “My wife had not taken any drugs that could harm her that morning.” The elder Murphy gripped Monjack’s hand tearfully during the interview and seemed to cling to him for support, contrary to claims that they have been at odds with one another since Brittany’s death.
