Nothing like a spot of polo over the weekend. It all looks so elegant with the pretty dresses, tea and champagne. And hot polo players. The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is an annual affair that most of Hollywood’s ladies turn up for because it’s such great fashion exposure for them. By the looks of it, this year was the third time in a row they threw a quite successful event, held at the Will Rogers State Historic Park in Pacific Palisades, California. Ashley Greene led the festivities in a gorgeous white Antonio Berardi bandage dress with nude pumps by Giuseppe Zanotti. Kaley Cuoco looked light and summery in a printed Brian Rennie for Basler dress — love the pocket detailing. Rose McGowan was there too, wearing a purple Philip Lim jumpsuit, Brian Atwood shoes and a Bruno Magli clutch. Mandy Moore wore almost the same shade, but in a printed dress version by Lela Rose with Christian Loubotin heels. Our best-dressed goes to Alessandra Ambrosio who wore an amazing color-blocked, maxi BCBGMAXAZRIA dress. We’re also totally feeling Selma Blair‘s Skaist Taylor blue jumpsuit and Marc Jacobs sandals.
One more panel left after the jump, so have a look and tell us whose looks you dug the most! There’s Rachel Zoe, Rebecca Romjin and Lauren Conrad‘s outfits too! Read more…
Guilty pleasure, thy name is romantic comedy. When we first saw the trailer for the Mandy Moore-Kellan Lutz movie Love, Wedding, Marriage, we were thinking it was just going to be like every other movie about a wedding: a couple that’s trying to figure out how to define their relationship while also juggling their quirky families, zany friends, and careers that seem fake. And that’s exactly what it is, but it actually has a large and impressive cast that softened even the harshest, pop-culture nerd critics (we are easily persuaded by a supporting cast that includes Alyson Hannigan and/or her real life husband Alexis Denisof—how can you not love their Buffy legacy or their adorable daughter, Satyana?) It looks cheesy and predictable, but that’s why we love our rom-coms in the first place, isn’t it? Plus, Kellan Lutz in a towel, so there’s that.
License To Wed 2? Not gonna happen. Despite the success of her animated redux of Rapunzel, Tangled, Mandy Moore says she’s done with romantic comedies.”I’ve had fun doing romantic comedies but I just can’t anymore,” she told Digital Spy. “There’s nothing fulfilling creatively, there’s nowhere to grow, nothing to learn from it or for yourself. I’d rather just be home with my family or write music until that special project comes my way.”
It’s probably worth acknowledging that two recent romantic Moore vehicles, Love, Wedding, Marriage and Swinging With The Finkels are still without release dates—so it’s not like Hollywood’s beating down the door to give her Katherine Heigl‘s parts anyway. But now they’ll know not to bother.
Did you know yesterday was World Water Day? Mandy Moore knew, posing with local school children in Washington, DC and using her breathtaking cuteness to promote global clean water efforts to Congress members. “Here on Capitol Hill, it’s hard for us to imagine what it’s like to face illness every time we’re thirsty but it’s a reality in Southern Sudan. It is an overwhelmingly tragic situation but the good news is we can do something about it.” On the lighter side, can someone give Moore a sitcom or something? She’s an underrated comedienne (see American Dreamz for proof) and we need a weekly fix of her gorgeousness. See what we’re talking about in the gallery below.
We have long since stopped envying the billions of celebrity women who’ve passed through John Mayer‘s revolving bedroom door, and now his latest quote has made us even more grossed out. “I have great balance and co-ordination. Inventiveness. I am a very inventive lover – that’s the secret to my success,” he’s reportedly said.
Mandy Moore secretly married singer Ryan Adams in Savannah, Georgia on Tuesday, according to their representatives. The pair—dating on-and-off for more than a year—announced their engagement last month. Both have had their share of high-profile relationships, with Moore dating Wilmer Valderaama, Zach Braff and DJ AM, among others, while Adams has been connected to Alanis Morrissette, Parker Posey, Winona Ryder, Lindsay Lohan and Leona Naess.
Ironically, while Mandy’s sixth album is due in May, Adams says he’s retiring from his band, The Cardinals, to focus on a literary career.
Mandy Moore is apparently on the outs with her mother, while getting closer with her ex DJ AM. The singer/actress has refused to speak with her mom since she came out in March, when she left Mandy’s dad for tennis player Claudette Laliberte. Now the once-close mother-daughter pair are estranged, and Mandy’s threatening to ditch her older brother’s wedding if her mama’s in attendance.
Luckily she has the gentle, sensitive arms of super-rich music guy DJ AM to hold her as she battles it out with her fam. Mandy and AM have been inseparable since the plane crash last month that left him with second and third degree burns. An insider reveals that Mandy apparently said recently, “I like this guy a lot and I want to see where it can go again. Life is too short to not be with someone you really care about.”
Hm – shouldn’t she apply that same logic to her mother? We’re just sayin’. [Photos: WireImage, FilmMagic]
