Elizabeth Banks Pays Homage To Marilyn Monroe In Vanity Fair And Nails The Look!

Elizabeth Banks as Marilyn Monroe, Vanity Fair

We didn’t think that anyone would be able to top Kristen Stewart on the cover of Vanity Fair‘s July issue in the glam stakes. But this inside spread of Elizabeth Banks as the original glam girl — Marilyn Monroe — could give Ms. Stewart a run for her money. Banks does a fantastic job in recreating Monroe. Kudos to the makeup, hair and styling teams because the looks are spot-on. The reason for the homage is because the actress is going to be reading out Monroe’s letters in the upcoming documentary Thoughts from Fragments.

Banks also chats a little bit about her career with the magazine. Of her character, Wendy, the perky breast-feeding expert, in What To Expect When You’re Expecting, she says, “I knew where all the jokes were with Wendy. She was breezy to play.” She considers romantic comedy to be her strong suit and reckons that her career started “at the exact wrong time” in 2001, as the genre took a nose-dive that year. Luckily enough, that means she’s had the chance to act across the board and explore different characters instead. “I’ve put in a lot of time, but because I’ve worked in so many different genres and with so many different types of people, I’ve managed to stay a little bit fresh and a little new, which is rare when you’re in your 30s,” she reveals. We concur. Banks is always a treat to watch!

New, Previously Unseen Photographs Of Marilyn Monroe Up For Auction

Looking at these photographs of Marilyn Monroe, it’s evident that no one will come even close to her. Favorites of ours like Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn) even pale in comparison. We won’t even get into that other Monroe enthusiast, Lindsay Lohan. Just, no. The pictures that you see of the late actress above and below in the gallery are being put up for auction day after tomorrow at Julien’s Auctions. The real selling point, other than it’s Marilyn Monroe, is that the photographs have never been seen before! The set was taken by the makeup artist, Allan ‘Whitey’ Snyder, who was a very close friend of Marliyn’s and someone she trusted implicitly. That’s why she’s so relaxed and in such a playful mood in some of them. We can’t stop looking at them! She was just 27 at the time of the photographs were taken. Any estimates as to high the bids will go?

Playboy Is Really Pushing This Whole Lindsay Lohan/Marilyn Monroe Thing

Lindsay Lohan, we sincerely love you. Every time someone screams at us that they want their pink shirt back (which is a lot), we are immediately taken back to your film heyday. That being said, the whole Lindsay Lohan/Marilyn Monroe comparison has got to end. Sources report that Lindsay Lohan’s Playboy spread, due out around Christmas for the magazine’s January/February issue, is an homage to Marilyn Monroe’s photos in the magazine’s debut issue. “The pictorial is absolutely fantastic and very tasteful,” Lohan’s rep confirms. Considering the photos reportedly include full-frontal nudity, we’d like to refer Lilo’s rep to the Merriam-Webster definition of “tasteful” for future use.

This wouldn’t be the first time Lilo has posed nude in a Monroe-inspired spread; as you undoubtedly recall, she recreated “The Last Sitting,” Monroe’s 1962 nude shoot, for New York magazine in 2008. This is in addition to Lindsay’s Marilyn tattoo, the Monroe-inspired name of her fashion line (6126 translating into Marilyn’s birthday of 6/01/1926) and her introduction for the book Marilyn: Intimate Exposures, in which Lindsay all but claims to be Marilyn Monroe reincarnated in a slightly smaller, infinitely more freckly body. Other than their struggles with illegal substances and rocky professional reputations, however, do these two have much in common? Let’s compare:

Marilyn Monroe: Appeared in 32 completed films, the last one being The Misfits.
Lindsay Lohan: Appeared in 17 films, including 2012′s Underground Comedy, in which Lindsay plays…Marilyn.

Marilyn Monroe: Nominated for a BAFTA award for The Prince and The Showgirl; won a Golden Globe for Some Like It Hot.
Lindsay Lohan: Nominated for a SAG award for Bobby; won multiple Razzies for I Know Who Killed Me.

Marilyn Monroe: Is generally heralded as an excellent comedic actress limited by typecasting.
Lindsay Lohan: Is currently embroiled in a lawsuit with Pitbull over his rap lyric referring her stint in jail.

So we have to ask…

Michelle Williams, Marilyn Would Like You To Eats Some Carbs, Please

By Sabrina Rojas Weiss
Michelle Williams can basically do no wrong, in our eyes, so please consider this a message of loving concern, not of criticism. While the 31-year-old has always had a luminescent, head-turning beauty, she’s also won us over by appearing very real. That’s why pics of Michelle at the New York Film Festival premiere of “My Week With Marilyn” over the weekend have us worried.

We love the seafoam-green vintage Dior, and she’s rocking that super-cute pixie cut still. But her arms are alarmingly skinny, in that high-fashion manner that screams, “No one has let me near a piece of bread in six weeks!”

Now, we ask you, is this any way to promote a movie in which Michelle plays MARILYN FREAKING MONROE? No one’s going to argue that the late bombshell was the picture of mental health, but she was, and still is, the icon of curvy ladies everywhere. (The picture above is of MM in 1956, when “My Week” takes place.) And if she were alive today, we’re sure she’s tap Ms. Michelle on her currently bony (but still lovely!) shoulder and purr, “Honey, wouldn’t you just looove a bowl full of pasta right now?”

One More Look At Michelle Williams As Marilyn Monroe

Earlier this month, we posted the Vogue cover that had Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe. She’s going to be starring in the upcoming biopic My Week With Marilyn that’s all about the filming of Monroe’s 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl. Ever since that cover, we’ve been itching to see more photographs. Michelle Williams is the consummate actress, but pulling off Marilyn is something we feel even the best would find hard to handle. This new shot of Michelle as Marilyn in the water is breathtaking though, putting any tiny doubts we had to rest. What do you think? We know many of you are diehard Monroe fans so let us know what your thoughts are through the poll below!

Lindsay Lohan Cannot Stop Comparing Herself To Marilyn Monroe

This isn’t the first time the Lindsay Lohan Marilyn Monroe comparison has been made: they’re both troubled, blond (usually) and didn’t star in Mean Girls 2. In case we weren’t putting the pieces together on our own, however, Lilo has taken the time to spell it out for us…in the book Marilyn: Intimate Exposures. “I can understand the photographer Bernard of Hollywood’s [Bruno Bernard] statement, ‘it took a superhuman effort to be Marilyn.;” Lindsay writes, providing the forward for author Susan Bernard‘s book. “I identify.” Jeez, Lilo, you might as well go ahead and paint us a pict…oh right, those Lindsay Lohan Marilyn Monroe photos. Girl is on her Monroe game!

“Marilyn never wanted to be just a celebrity,” Lindsay continues. “Neither do I … I had always thought that movie stars were in films that would last forever in your mind. But now the films don’t.” Hey, Herbie Full-Loaded will last forever in our minds! Oh…you mean, for being good. Hmmm. “Marilyn said she had no foundation,” Lohan concludes. “But she said she was really working on it. I’ve been trying to do the same thing … I believe in myself and I’m a good actress.” Well, then let’s get out there and be the next Marilyn, girl! First off: no more commercials co-starring animal puppets. Pose topless all you want but let’s keep a sense of decorum here.

The 27 Most Scandalous Alleged Celebrity Mistresses

540x450

Cheating in Hollywood is as common place as nose jobs – everyone does it, and everyone denies it. Since the start of the new year alone, both Jesse James and Tiger Woods have f*cked their way to infamy, leaving behind trails of tattooed mistresses and dirty text messages. But the secret sex game is old school, and Sunset Boulevard is littered with tales of two-timing guys who have cheated on their wives with their co-star, nanny, assistant, intern, escort, or whoever else they could get their hands on. Sometimes the mistress is even more famous than the married man she’s bedding, if not before their affair than certainly after.

Some of these ladies went on to land their man, while others posed for Playboy and started failed handbag lines. But long after the sex ends and the scandals die, their legends live on – on Wikipedia at least. Check out the FABlife’s picks for the Most Scandalous Alleged Celebrity Mistresses below.

Heidi Montag: I’m An Iconic Sex Symbol

Heidi-Montag

We really shouldn’t be surprised at anything that comes out of Heidi Montag’s mouth – after all, she thinks Spencer Pratt is a hot, marriageable catch. But what is news to us, is that her Playboy spread was in fact part of Heidi’s own self-mythologizing plans.

“I wasn’t nervous [about the shoot] because I’d got my body and mind into shape for it. My aim is to become an iconic sex symbol, and the Playboy shoot is the first step,” she told Closer magazine.

Sorry – our mistake, Heidi. We didn’t know you were joining the hallowed ranks of Marilyn Monroe, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot! Thanks for letting us know. We only anticipate (with horrified head-in-hands mode) what your next “iconic” step will be. And we can’t remember any of these legendary ladies promising to get “triple X” boobs for their husbands. Or pole dancing for the cameras. [Photo: WireImage]

Scarlett Johansson Looks Sexier Than Ever

Is it ever possible for Scarlett Johansson to look anything other than sh*t-hot sexy? We’re not asking for her to show up looking totally rough, just a bit dodgy would do us. But no, in the latest ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana, Mrs Ryan Reynolds looks delicious in her Marilyn Monroe get-up. Whereas most starlets would end up looking like pale imitations of the real thing (hello, Lindsay!) when they try and emulate the legendary screen goddess, Scarlett just looks amazing. And look – no exposed crotch in sight! Watch and learn, Madonna. [Photo: Dolce & Gabbana)
