We know we’re supposed to be gushing over Channing Tatum‘s Oscar worthy performance in Foxcatcher right now, but can we talk about Magic Mike XXL for just a second? The sequel to Steven Soderbergh‘s 2012 film doesn’t come out until 2015 and we’re already obsessed, thanks to adorable photos from set. Fact: These guys don’t have to be naked or even semi-naked to melt our hearts.
Many fans of Matt Bomer know him from his stripping in Magic Mike, but the actor has been breaking hearts as Neal Caffrey for five seasons on White Collar. Both roles are notable not only for Bomer’s charming blue eyes and fine acting, but his sculpted shirtless body as well. In fact, in most of his roles, the actor has found a way to strip down — whether by choice or courtesy of the producers’ smart decision making — for fans’ viewing pleasure.
Every year we look forward to the Emmy Awards, or more accurately, the glamorous celeb red carpet. Unfortunately, the stars (like say, Lena Dunham) make some odd style choices. We’re here to separate the cute and quirky from the downright wrong.
Ashton Kutcher out-earned all other TV actors in the last year, Shutter Island is coming to the small screen, Matt Bomer will appear in American Horror Story: Freak Show like we’ve never seen him before, and more celebrity news to hold you over until tonight’s Emmy Awards.
A lot of celebrities had double duty on Saturday night as there were a number of Super Bowl parties happening in New Orleans, most notably the GQ Super Bowl Party with Lil Wayne performing and the DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl, where Justin Timberlake brought Jay-Z onstage. The celebs at the earlier party were pretty casual, but they cleaned up quite nicely for the evening to-do. Except Josh Hutcherson and Chace Crawford, who showed up in denim and a baseball cap and a lot of facial scruff, respectively. They should have taken style cues from Ryan Kwanten and Matt Bomer who both nailed it in sharp suits.
Of course, our eyes were trained on one very gorgeous Ian Somerhalder who turned out in a simple black shirt and jeans. Simple … but perfect, as always. The two ladies in attendance also did quite nicely. Kate Upton slicked on some red lipstick, twisted her hair up in a messy updo and slid into some skinny black pants, a leather bomber jacket and a pair of dark cherry-pointed pumps. Can’t really go wrong with that, right? Hayden Panettiere also took on a three-piece combination but topped hers with a white blazer and beautifully ironed shiny hair. The piece de resistance was her neon orange pumps. It takes a lot to upstage Kate, but we think Hayden managed it. Have a look at our gallery below to see full-length pictures of everyone in attendance.

Hello, gentlemen! We could not with a clear conscience ignore the proliferation of extremely handsome men at the People’s Choice Awards because they really brought their A-Game. So many sharply-cut suits! Eddie Redmayne and Giancarlo Esposito already made it to our best-dressed list, but we’re talking about you, Ian Somerhalder, all sexy in your classic black tie combination. J.D Pardo did the same in the best fitted blazer and suit we’re see in a long time. Jensen Ackles actually pulled off a deep maroon suit with a black shirt — but it’s impossible to make that man look anything other than gorgeous. Chris Colfer ditched a jacket completely and opted for skinny trousers and a skinnier tie and worked the whole thing like a pro. We’re also giving out props to Jesse Williams who added a little something’ extra to his suit by adding a pair of purple suede shoes. The impossibly good looking Matt Bomer added a little texture to his deep navy suit with a grey pocket square and a Madras-checked shirt. We’re counting The Wanted as one unit — one very hip, way cool unit. Their stylists need a raise. But we’d like to hand the best-dressed trophy to our number one guy, Robert Downey Jr. That grey suit, that pizazz and those metallic sneakers? Take a bow, sir.

There’s a little less than a month and a half to go until Magic Mike struts into a theater near you, but preparations are in full swing. And by “preparations,” we mean “promotion,” most of which involves the shirtless, very buff crew of the film. Catch us complaining? Hells to the N.O. Not that we’re objectifying any of the stars. Oh, wait … Never mind. The latest round of stripper-tastics comes with the current cover of EW which has the lead player of the movie — Mike with all the magic, himself — Channing Tatum, smirking off the page as he unbuttons his shirt.
But this isn’t just any old cover. There’s a bonus inside flap of Channing with Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello and Matt Bomer, with Manganiello forgoing his wife-beater for a pair of suspenders. In the words of Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love, “Seriously … it’s like you’re Photoshopped!” Because — as the photograph on the right from the shoot illustrates — those abs cannot be for real. EW says they “brought the group back together for a wet and wild photo shoot followed by a rowdy, booze-soaked dinner, where the costars swapped their best stories about acting, waxing, and baring (nearly) everything in their new film.” We should’ve been invited to that dinner. Hell, we should’ve been invited for the shoot!
