Dancing With the Stars premiered last night with all the overly spray-tanned faces, judge sniping and glitter we’ve come to expect and love over the past 15 seasons. And the first all-star season of the oft-humiliating franchise took the competition up a notch with winners, finalists and favorites of the past shimmying their way through a tougher scoring system. You know, since every alum is now an expert dancer (except Pamela Anderson, just saying). But no matter how hard everyone worked, someone has to go home tonight. So let’s break down the good, the not-so-bad and the ugly from the dance floor and see if we can predict which DWTS alum will be having the first last dance.
Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke
The Football Hall of Famer —“Twinkle Toes” to you DWTS fans — is back! The Season 3 winner closed the premiere episode with a cha-cha that placed him and Cheryl at the top of the leader board. Even Len, who had been particularly reluctant to throw out praise all night said their performance was, “the last dance of the evening and the best.” Score: 24.5/30
Remember when that crying guy on The Bachelor proposed to one girl only to dump her at the reunion special so he could hit on the runner-up? Well, Jason Mesnick‘s tears were not in vain: he and said sloppy seconds Molly Malaney are officially engaged. Due to their months-long long-distance relationship, it may wind up the healthiest romance this show has inspired!
Not that it’s run out of weird. Mesnick popped the question in New Zealand, which happens to be where he initially ditched Malaney for future Dancing With The Stars contestant Melissa Rycroft (who got engaged herself in June). The spot was chosen so “Jason [could] do what he should have done in the last time he was here, and ask Molly to marry him,” said a source for People. Aww, that’s romantic…in a catty, surreal kind of way.

She got dumped on national TV, but Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft has found love and is now engaged. The 26-year-old’s boyfriend Tye Strickland proposed to her on Friday night.
“Sometimes the stars align and the clouds part and everything works out the way it should,” she said.
Melissa and Tye, and insurance agent, began dating a few months after she was proposed to an d then dumped by Bachelor Jason Mesnick.
“We’ve been really good friends, but the timing was never right,” she said.
