The Olympics may be over, but we’re holding on to memories of cheering on our favorite athletes for dear life. There’s something truly beautiful about the Olympic Games and how it unites a country (and gives us something to talk about in an awkward elevator encounter). We do not want to say goodbye! That’s why we spent today looking for ways to indulge in the games for just a little while longer. Something tells us some of the Games’ breakout stars will never be too far from our radar! For now, here are 10 of our favorite ways to not let go of the 2012 Summer Olympics:
1. Ryan Lochte will be appearing on an upcoming episode of the CW’s 90210. He will cross paths with recently reunited couple Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Max (Josh Zuckerman) at a resort, where they are attempting to strengthen their relationship. For his sake, we hope he acts better than he interviews!
2. Have you seen Michael Phelps in the new Louis Vuitton ad? If your answer is “Hmmm I don’t remember…” then no, you haven’t seen it because it is definitely unforgettable! Michael Phelps has proven to be more than just a trendy athlete to love. He overcame a bad reputation and is now only regarded of as the most decorated Olympian of all time.
3. We can’t get enough of the McKayla Maroney Is Not Impressed meme, and we know it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Her unimpressed face photobombs the most perfectly chosen images throughout the day. McKayla got in on the fun when Aly Raisman tweeted this photo of Maroney, Kyla Ross and herself standing outside a closed swimming pool.
Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings have already earned gold medals for in the “Best Winning Faces” competition as far as we’re concerned! But today the duo are competing for the woman’s beach volleyball glory after besting the Chinese team yesterday in the semi finals. “We just defeated the best team in the world for the past year. These Chinese women are great athletes,” Walsh-Jennings said over the stadium sound system after the win. “We know we have this in us, we’ve just got to go execute.”
We know that these two have got it going on, of course they’ve got what it takes! Plus they have the track record to prove it. The two California natives have earned the gold twice before at the Beijing and Athens Olympics back in 2008 and 2004 respectively, and they’re fired up to take it to the sand in London. They’ve been kicking ass and taking names, becoming the first players to successfully defend their title since beach volleyball became an Olympic sport in 1996. Many have called them the greatest beach volleyball duo of all time, and who are we to say otherwise?
Yet we always find ourselves going back to one thing: Their game faces! We especially love those post win excitment cheers. Let’s hope we see another one today! The match is set for 9 PM London time (that’s 4 PM for us in the east coast) so we’ll see you then.
The 2012 Summer Olympic athletes aren’t the only ones who are going to need to hit the showers after competition, we’re going to need a cool down too! Olympians are bringing the heat to this summer’s games in London with scorching hot bods and impeccable bone structure to boot. And let us just say, we are damn proud to be Americans. So many of our top sexiest athletes hail from these United States. We clearly have an obsession with Ryan Lochte and don’t worry, he’s in there, but Michael Phelps, Andy Roddick, Hope Solo, Lolo Jones also make an appearance along with plenty of their fellow Team USA competitors that we can’t get enough of. And of course, what would the Olympic games be without sportsmanship? We also mixed in plenty of foreign flavor from Spain, Brazil, Norway and Switzerland amongst so many others. It’s taking everything we’ve got not to book our flights to London while simultaneously writing this post. All hail the hotties sprinting, jumping, dunking, swimming, kicking, rowing, serving, and working their spectacular butts off. Viewers, you are going to need a towel and a glass of water for this one…
