Of all the dozens of celebrities who have been beating down Ryan Murphy‘s door to land a guest role on Glee, it turns out John Travolta is not one of them. Travolta says he turned down a role on the Fox show, citing the fact that he needs months, not a week, to prepare for his musical theater roles. He told Entertainment Tonight “They’ve asked but when I do musicals I train for six to nine months…and a show like that is an on-demand thing. I really have a criteria or a pride that I would wanna knock ‘em dead,” he continued. “I don’t think I’d knock ‘em dead in a week.”
We can’t fault the guy for being a perfectionist, but we know there are a lot of people who would kill for the opportunity (Elton John, for one, still hasn’t gotten his invite to be on the show). Maybe Travolta’s Grease co-star Olivia Newton-John, who has appeared on the show, will talk some sense in to him and convince him to take the role. The pair, seen here at the G’Day USA Black Tie Gala this week, are longtime friends ever since they engaged in some sweet summer lovin’ as 35-year-old high school students back in the day. Check out some shots of them through the years in our gallery below and let us know what you think, should Travolta be so picky about singing with the Gleeks?

Guess Olivia Newton-John was not the one Patrick McDermott wanted (oh oh oh). Gah, okay, forgive us for the terrible Grease references. The big news is: ONJ’s boyfriend of 9 years, who disappeared at sea after a fishing excursion, is alive. Cops have tracked him down in Mexico, where he is living on a sailboat. Getting dumped and grieving the end of a relationship is one thing, but mourning the loss of one’s life partner only to discover that person is chilling on a sailboat drinking cervezas is WAY insane. Surely Olivia’s got a well-payed therapist somewhere saying a prayer of thanks to McDermott.
The former lighting designer was apparently in major debt and fake-died so that his son – whose child support he was unable to pay – could get his $100,000 life insurance policy, a move that is both noble and douchey. Detectives have reached a deal with McDermott, in which he has confirmed his existence and they in turn have called off hunting for him. Indeed, it’s a tale weirder than Xanadu. [Telegraph. Poor Sandy! Olivia Newton-John’s missing ex-boyfriend Pat McDermott has allegedly been uncovered alive and well in Mexico, and has asked private investigators to stop looking for him. The cameraman, who had dated Olivia for nine years, went missing on a fishing trip in 2005 and was presumed to have drowned. But now a PI who has been looking into the case has received messages from McDermott’s – now going under his birth name of Pat Kim – reps.
“Pat asked that I portray to you his innocence in the crimes you have accused him of. Pat has committed no crime. . . Pat simply wishes to be left alone. . .,” it reads. He’s apparently working as a deckhand in the fishing village of Sayulita and claims he was planning his disappearance six months prior to the date to escape bad debts. Olivia is now married to John Easterling, but the news that her boyfriend skipped town leaving her heartbroken and grieving has got to be a harsh one to deal with. [Photo: WireImage]
Yep, this story again! A team of private investigators is supposedly hot on the trail of Olivia Newton-John‘s ex-boyfriend, Patrick McDermott, who disappeared during a fishing trip off the coast of California in June, 2005. Philip Klein, the dude heading up the search, is convinced that McDermott is pretending to be dead so that his son may receive his $100,000 life insurance policy. Apparently he had filed for bankruptcy in the past and owed his wife a ton of money in child support.
An official Coast Guard report on the case states that McDermott drowned, but Klein believes that the former camera man (who had dated Newton-John for nine years) is on a boat off the coast of Mexico. He’s even set up a website – FindPatrickMcDermott.com – as a trap, and follows the various locations of people who visit the site. He’s got his eye on Mexico, where McDermott’s been spotted numerous times (and where someone’s apparently been checking out the site.
“The rule of thumb is always this,” Klein warns. “When you’re running you always are looking over your shoulder and we’re going to catch him looking at us.”
