Trend Orange Tries To Win The Style Stakes At The Emmys

Trend Orange Gowns At Emmys

The color yellow didn’t do too well on the Emmys carpet, but how did its citrus counterpart, orange, fare? Not too good, either, sadly. There were a few exceptions, though. Ginnifer Goodwin and Padma Lakshmi‘s gorgeous tangerine gowns — both by Monique Lhuillier — landed them on the best-dressed list for the night. Cat Deely worked it in a one-shouldered dramatic gown that looked like it may have been a Monique number as well. But that’s as far as the awesome orange went. A few came close. Nancy O’Dell‘s two-toned gown may have worked had it not been for that stip of cream shoulder strap and her distracting earrings. Gretchen Mol‘s gown started okay at the top but draped listlessly on her body. Her orange bag and heels made the whole thing too matchy-matchy as well. Jessica Lange — how we love you. We just wish your gown fit better! Have a look — along with all the other orange gowns — in our gallery below.

Emmys Best Dressed: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler And Kat Dennings Work Their Curves

Let’s be real. Comedic geniuses and BFFs IRL Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have never looked better. Flaunting their figures in Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney frocks respectively, the pair looked confident, sexy and positively radiant. Whatever you’re doing, ladies, it’s working.

Other red carpet highlights included Kat Dennings‘ flawlessly foxy red-on-red look and Heidi Klum‘s doubly sky-high slits. Mad Men‘s Jessica Pare took a page from the Megan Draper fashionable playbook and rocked a custom Jason Wu black and white ensemble.

5 Best-Dressed List For The CFDA Awards, We’re As Surprised As You Are

CFDA Awards Best Dressed

We all know what a big deal the CFDA Awards are. It’s the Council of Fashion Designers of America panel, so their vote is important. The ceremony went down in New York, at the Lincoln Center, last night, and we had our eyes peeled for the best looks. And what we found surprised us because none of these ladies, as lovely as they are, are not found often on best-dressed lists. Other than Selita Ebanks. The supermodel could wear a burlap sack and look stunning. She wore a white form-fitting Herve Leger by Max Azria gown with metallic inserts and a matching clutch. Padma Lakshmi wore an incredible black and navy textured gown by Naeem Khan which had us floored. We also had Sophia Bush in a gorgeous leggy custom tangerine jersey gown by David Meister Signature with a Daniel Swarovski clutch and two-tone pumps. Julianne Hough took on a plunging neckline but still looked beautifully styled in Kaufman Franco Chinese red stretch-crepe gown. Lastly, there was Mandy Moore who looked statuesque in a creamy  Lela Rose gown with embellished shoulders. Top points for the hot-pink lips! You can check out all the looks in the gallery below, but be sure to tell us what you think!

Fashion At The Tribeca Ball: Who Was Fab, Who Was Meh And Who Was Awful?

We’d like to save the best for last, so we’re going to start with who didn’t hit the mark at last night’s Tribeca Ball in New York. The event was honoring Robert de Niro, FYI, and was held at the New York Academy of Art. We’ll start with Solange Knowles on the left. Love the coral lips and print blouse, but not exactly loving those high-waisted, shiny trousers. Taking “shiny” to a whole new level is Carla Gugino, in the middle. She’s such a beautiful woman, but that bouffant hair is all wrong, especially when paired with that red, satin dress. We get she was trying to go retro, but couldn’t get it right. Then there’s Paz de la Huerta on the right. We don’t even know what to say, or where to begin. Just … NO.

We’re moving on to the meh pile next, which comprises Padma Lakshmi and Helena Christensen. To see what they wore, and what we have to say, click after the jump. The best dressed lot also awaits you! Read more…

Alicia Keys’ Black Ball Attacts Some Colorful Fashions

Last night, Alicia Keys continued her work to solve the AIDS crisis, hosting the 8th Annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. While helping to fund research, treatment and care for those affected by AIDS, the guest were treated to performances by the likes of Keys, Usher, Mary J. Blige, will.i.am and more. The evening also honored the late Beatle and philanthropist George Harrison. Our invite was surely lost in the mail, but we’re content to gaze upon the stars’ best red-carpet fashions. Check out the stunning (not all-black) looks worn by Tyra Banks, Chanel Iman, Kerry Washington and more in the gallery below.

Celebrities Show Their Support At The Samsung Hope For The Children Gala

The Samsung Hope for the Children Gala, held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York, was a star-studded affair. Plenty of celebrities showed up to lend their support for the cause including Demi Moore who looked lovely in a Louis Vuitton dress and sexy, strappy Jimmy Choo heels. Giving her a run for her money (and winning) was Jennifer Lopez is an amazing fuchsia Temperley London number. Selita Ebanks was working her gown too, but we’re not feeling that new blond short ‘do on her. She beamed happily with Jason Mraz and Estelle at cocktails, so she’s okay with it! Also seen were John Legend, Padma Lakshmi, Marc Anthony who posed alongside his diva wife, and Kevin Jonas with his better half, Danielle Deleasa. Take a look at all the pictures in the gallery below.

Halle Berry, Fergie And More Turn Up The Heat At The Fifi Awards

We know that the word “fifi” doesn’t really inspire sex appeal, but the Fifi Awards are a pretty big deal, whether or not they sound frou-frou—this annual show is one of the most prestigious events  of the fragrance industry. Halle Berry took at up a notch at the 2011 awards, yesterday in NYC, wearing an incredibly sexy asymmetrical cut-out dress by Halston with Christian Louboutin heels! Halle won the Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award for her scent “Reveal”, as well. So she dressed in honor of its name? Because this is pretty “reveal-ing”, no?

Don’t mind if we sound jealous. We aren’t really. We’re actually in awe of that stomach! And the rest of that body, for that matter. Halle was in good company at the show with the likes of Mary J. Blige, Fergie, Kate Walsh and Padma Lakshmi around, and we have to say, everyone was spiffily dressed. Fergie especially, in a flowing canary yellow BCBG Max Azria Atelier gown with a turquoise clutch. She won New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award for her perfume “Outspoken”. We don’t know why Paz de la Huerta decided to wear no make-up and scowl throughout, so we’re just going to focus on Mary’s awesome Gucci dress. Take a look at the pictures below and give us your verdict.

Here’s hoping front baby carriers become the fashion accessory of 2011. Padma Lakshmi took her baby daughter Krishna on a walk in Manhattan this morning. Silver booties? Check! Hat with a skull’n’crossbones, drawstring and the maximum possible amount of pom poms? Check! Red leggings? Check! Stylish fur-lined coat? Check! With a mom like Padma, it’s no surprise this kid can make it work.
