25 Pictures Of Beyonce, Willow Smith, Elizabeth Banks And More Embracing The Summer Brights Trend

25 Pictures Of 2012 Summer Brights Trend

If there’s one trend we’ve been spotting taking over red carpets in 2012 alone, it’s been the juicy summer brights look. We’ve been happy to see every shade of orange and yellow seep onto a variety of silhouettes over the year, from the very start of January. The Oscars, the Met Ball, the Golden Globes and the big premieres — hello, The Hunger Games — all had these shades represented by actresses who are not afraid to embrace the bright side. The Met Ball alone really took care of this huge trend with a number of actresses choosing orange like Kristen Bell and Emma Roberts. Solange Knowles and January Jones really took care of the yellow spectrum. Some celebrities have been more courageous than others, wearing brights on numerous occasions. Like, Viola Davis, Nicole Richie and Elizabeth Banks. Each of those lovely ladies is represented in our exhaustive gallery of 25 pictures below. This collection comprises our favorite looks — all worn this year, from January onwards — which are all either orange or yellow, keeping the trend in mind. You’ll also see where exactly they were worn, in case you want to do a little digging on your own. Knock yourselves out on these punchy shades and tell us whose design you liked best!

The Kentucky Derby’s 30 Most Awesome Celebrity Hats

At this weekend’s Kentucky Derby, the competition isn’t only on the track. Attendees are famous for wearing their biggest, brightest, and boldest hats in an effort to shield themselves from the sun — who are we kidding? — to stand out in the crowd of Churchill Downs. And a lot of those fabulous hats are on the heads of some of our favorite celebrities. From European fascinators to traditional straw hats, stars like Kim Kardashian and Paula Patton embraced the chance to embody true Southern elegance. Even Joey Fatone joined in on some fashion fun by sporting a feathered hat when he attended the Kentucky Derby in 2010. Before we sit down and tune in to the 138th Kentucky Derby race, let’s take a look at the 30 most awesome hats we’ve seen in recent years.

Orange You Glad You Wore That? Celebrities Embrace Summer Brights

That’s an interesting shade to pop up in three different spots on the same day. Looks like celebrity-town is fully embracing the spring spirit and bringing out bright colors. Orange, for instance, was the shade of the day, yesterday. Tina Fey wore it from head-to-toe in New York while filming 30 Rock with the extremely delicious James Marsden. Elsewhere in New York, a very pregnant Kourtney Kardashian wore the same punchy hue in a loose A-line shift with skyscraper heels. We’re totally digging her maternity wardrobe, but wonder how she’s navigating herself in those shoes.

Lastly, Paula Patton was a breath of fresh air in a vermilion flirty frock while filming Extra at The Grove in L.A. for Pepsi NEXT. That’s three great looks, and we’re sold. By that we mean, we’re finally packing away our dark, depressing clothes and opening up to some summer fun. Which silhouette do you like best? We’re leaning towards Kourtney’s, only a tad more taken in since we’re not preggers. Although, our regular body type may just be Kourt’s preggo physique because that woman is tiny.

Your Mega Peek Into The 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

We all know that the Vanity Fair Oscar Party is almost as big as the Oscar ceremony itself. And just as brights were a major Oscars 2012 trend, it was the same as the party. Rosie Huntington-Whitely wore a juicy, tangerine Antonio Berardi dress while Cameron Diaz went more orange with a Victoria Beckham number. Kate Upton, a pregnant Molly Sims, Salma Hayek, Abbie Cornish and Diane Kruger all wore shades of crimson.

It’s just a straight-up roll call of celebrities here: Elizabeth Olsen in black Christian Dior, Sofia Vergara in a white Robert Cavalli column, Brooklyn Decker in nude, beaded Valentino and Selena Gomez in Dolce & Gabbana. See what we mean? We’re not too sure about  Zoe Saldana in her black, sheer Marios Schwab or January Jones in her Wes Gordon green-and-burgundy confused dress. Or Elizabeth Banks and her green-and-blue feathered Chadwick Bell dress.  Jennifer Lopez wore the same designer as her Oscars dress, but this plunging, sparkling, plum version was even sexier.

5 Best-Dressed At The Essence Black Women In Hollywood Event

Out of all the lovely women who attended the 5th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon yesterday at the Beverly Hills Hotel, five stood out the most. And four out of these five wore the same color, white. Leading the brigade was Viola Davis who looked gorgeous in Victoria Beckham. Paula Patton wore a skintight Marchesa with silver lace detailing on the cleavage. Kerry Washington wore a  Cushnie et Ochs suit with a rainbow Chanel clutch and bright pumps. Emma Stone put on a wonderfully romantic, flared Elie Saab frock. Breaking the color trend was Jennifer Beals, who wore a graphic Rue du Mail dress that was far too interesting to ignore. Take a look for yourself in the gallery below and tell us whose outfit you like best!

Jennifer Lawrence Returns To Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue

If we hadn’t already seen evidence of Kristen Stewart’s upcoming Vanity Fair spread, we know there’d be an uprising about her absence from the cover of VF’s annual Hollywood Issue. After all, there are two other alumnae from the 2010 issue returning for this year’s cover: Mia Wasikowska and Jennifer Lawrence. They share the mag’s front image with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara and Jessica Chastain, she of The Help and every other critically acclaimed movie of 2011.

Behind the fold are some other rather recognizable faces from the past year, albeit made up in ultra-glam ’30s-era styling for the Mario Testino photo that makes them nearly unrecognizable: Elizabeth Olsen, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton and Lily Collins. Three of the actresses are buzzy but not yet getting mainstream recognition: Adepero Oduye, star of the indie fave Pariah; Like Crazy’s Felicity Jones and Brit Marling, who co-wrote and starred in last year’s Another Earth and co-stars opposite Richard Gere in the upcoming hedge-fund drama (!) Arbitrage.

Stars Nominate Charlize Theron, J.Lo, Tilda Swinton For Best-Dressed Of 2011

Are you having trouble deciding who among our list of 30 lovely ladies was the best-dressed celebrity of 2011? You’re not alone. We posed that question to a number of other famous folks on red carpets and in the VH1 offices, and many were stumped. But when they did finally answer, they gave us a few names that didn’t make our original list — and now we realize it easily could have been a top 50. Watch on:

“I always think Charlize looks amazing,” Aisha Tyler told us.

Questlove put his choice in context: “The best-dressed celeb of 2011 was J.Lo, considering the tragedy she went through this year. I feel like she’s put on a brave face and she came out smelling like a rose.”

There was a bit of nepotism at play too: “My wife, Paula Patton,” Robin Thicke declared, and Bill Hader nominated his SNL co-star Kristen Wiig.

Robin Thicke Brags About Wife Paula Patton’s “Double-Digit Orgasms”

So, should Paula Patton be hiding her face in her hands over husband Robin Thicke‘s graphic description of their sex life in Essence? Or should Paula Patton be dropping copies of husband Robin Thicke’s graphic description of their sex life in Essence from a helicopter over the city? We’re honestly asking, because we just cannot tell anymore. “I like to try to get her into double-digit orgasms as much as possible. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when I’ve got my mojo and my swag, it happens,” Paula’s R&B singer spouse bragged to the mag. Oh, wait…duh, it’s helicopter option!

Either way it sounds like the Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol star and Thicke are going strong after 18 years and one son, Julian Fuego. Thicke also discussed his experience as one half of an interracial relationship, explaining, “You can’t understand it until you are with somebody every day and you have a child that you know is Black, you then understand that, wow, what a different experience Black people and in particular Black women have to go through.” Okay, Robin, we’ll give you a pass on spilling the intimate details. Even though Paula’s hand is going to be so sore from all that high fiving.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol Dominates Red Carpets Across The Globe

When we found out that Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol was heading to Rio (where they’re streaming the red carpet live), we realized that they’ve literally taken the movie across the globe. And by they, we mean actors Tom Cruise, Paula Patton (who is gorgeous, BTW) and Simon Pegg. Don’t worry, we already screamed, “Where’s Jeremy Renner” at the screen a bunch of times. Looks like he was busy doing the television interviews while they hopped on flights. The premieres started in Japan, moved to Seoul, covered Mumbai and Dubai, headed to Moscow, jumped to Madrid, Munich and Paris and made a pitstop in London. Gillian Anderson randomly turned up at the last one, FYI. So as you can see, that’s quite a journey they’ve been on. We figured it would be a good idea to put photographs from all the red carpets in one post so you can get your fill. But hurry up and look at the gallery, because this message will self destruct in five seconds.

Tom Cruise Defies Time, Space At Mission: Impossible Rio Premiere – Watch Live!

Whoa, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol is taking world domination to a whole new level. We’ve seen pictures of Tom Cruise and company gracing red carpets in Korea, India, Dubai and Germany since last week, and frankly, we’re getting a little jealous here in the States. Just because it’s serious blahdeeblah awards season here doesn’t mean we don’t need our fix of building-scaling, old-man-impersonating, secret-file-excavating Tom as urgently as the rest of the world!

But while we wait for the movie to make its way to our shores, we can get a much better look at today’s premiere in Rio de Janeiro. With the help of Coke Zero, Paramount is live-streaming the red carpet event today at 4 p.m. ET. We can all watch along as Cruise, co-star Paula Patton, director Brad Bird and some other special guests answer questions about all that building-scaling — and better yet, you can also log in and ask your own questions on the Livestream site. Or you can just sit back and watch it here. Electronic dance music legend Tiesto will be working his musical magic at the event too, so you might want to get your cubicle dance shoes on, pronto. Wait, how do you say “pronto” in Portuguese?
