Johnny Depp Forced Penelope Cruz To Dress Up As “Poo”

We always figured that the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides must have been a pretty weird place to be, what with Johnny Depp, Keith Richards and Geoffrey Rush running around with swords and rum on an island stocked with tons of explosives. But we had no idea how strange the tides had gotten until we learned Johnny forced costar Penelope Cruz to come to the set dressed as a piece of poo after she lost a bet. What kind of bet would result in having to dress up as a piece of poo? Something tells us that we don’t want to know.

“Johnny and I are both fans of South Park and the character Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo,” the brown-eyed beauty explained to the Daily Mail. “It’s absurd but very funny. Johnny made this outfit for me and we had a bet which I lost. And I had to wear the Poo outfit on the set. He was on the floor laughing and crying and he took a thousand pictures of me which I hope never come to light. But, of course, now that I’ve said it, I’m sure they will appear somewhere.” We’re sure they will, under the caption “Hot S—”. This definitely has to break some SAG rules.

Check out more poo-costumed celebs in the gallery below! Oh wait, we don’t have one of those…Sorry guys.

Salma Hayek Heats Up Cannes’ Palme D’or Ceremony

Salma Hayek

Thailand took home its first Palme D’Or ever at Cannes this weekend for Apichatpong Weerasethakul‘s Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, which is sort of like Snakes On A Plane in that the title describes the story and it’s full of wild animals (that may be where the similarities end, though). The avant-garde film doesn’t have an American release date yet, but with Alice In Wonderland‘s Tim Burton leading this year’s Cannes jury, we’re sure it will find its way here eventually. Among the gorgeous celebs attending the ceremony were Salma Hayek, Kate Beckinsale, Kirsten Dunst, Penelope Cruz, and acting winners Javier Bardem and Juliette Binoche. See what they wore in the gallery below.

FABLife’s DVD Pick Of The Week

Nine

A musical based on 8 ½, the impenetrable Federico Fellini film from 50 years ago? God knows what anybody was thinking–aside from hoping that maybe this tuner would repeat the success of the Oscar-winning Chicago. The songs are pretty unmemorable and the story is as underpowered as an Audi on bricks, but there are some good things here. Daniel Day-Lewis plays the genius movie director who has run out ideas. Seeking refuge from his producers and the press at a seaside spa, he is both tormented and delighted by visions of the women in his life. Day-Lewis is as watchable as ever; Penelope Cruz does a pole dance, and Fergie is an unexpected surprise as a prostitute singing “Be Italian” like her next plate of pasta depended on it. Judi Dench warbling in a basque, however, is enough to make one drive nails through their eyes.

Extras: Commentary track, three music videos and plenty of “making of” featurettes.

2010 Oscar Polls: What You Think

We asked for your opinion in a series of polls during our Oscars Viewing Party last night. You agree with the Academy’s decision to give Best Picture to The Hurt Locker, Best Actor to Jeff Bridges and Best Actress to Sandra Bullock. But then you turned a bit nasty. You think the show itself was only “so-so” and that Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were “average” in their hosting duties. You also think Avatar is overrated and that Twilight: New Moon got exactly what it deserved — not a single nomination. Full results below.

Penelope Cruz, the hottest supporting actress? Duh.

There’s a reason Mo’Nique and Maggie Gyllenhaal just about tied in this category. They’re both pretty damn cool.

Most of you thought Crazy Heart songwriter Ryan Bingham‘s ode to his wife was sweet, not cheesy — and we fully agree. What a lovely vision.

We’re not so sure George Clooney deserved hottest leading actor last night. He looked tired, and what a sour puss.

jeff-bridges

coolest-actor

Yeah. None of these actors are cooler than The Dude.

We probably should have had an option between Killing it and Average in this poll, because this funnyman duo was definitely better than Average.
