This is totally ruining our high over the SAG Awards best-dressed list, but it has to be done. Also, how is it possible that Anne Hathaway swings so wildly between getting it so right, and so wrong — nothing in between. Sadly, she got it so wrong at the awards show last night wearing a twee, frothy, half-sheer Giambattista Valli Couture dress that just didn’t do anything for us apart from making us say, “Why, Anne?” We do love her accessories in the form of her Jimmy Choo ‘Kalpa’ heels and her black Edie Parker clutch. We may be a tad harsh on Jessica Chastain as well — but it’s only because her people never seem to get fits right on her. The red McQueen gown maybe a beautiful, but it looks like it wants to crush her breasts, and to add insult to injury, it looks rumpled. We really don’t like the Harry Winston diamond necklace on her, either. It’s the wrong piece for the dress. Also, twee and in the same color, was Kaley Cuoco whose red lace Ramona Kaveeza dress made her look like a doily, even though her red velvet Giuseppe Zanotti heels gave her cred. Does anyone else think the new haircut with the bangs looks like a wig?
Rose Byrne was the wrong woman for her Valentino Resort 2013 gown because the fabric and the ruffles made her look matronly. And while her hair and makeup were sweet and retro, Claire Danes went in the opposite direction with deep maroon lips that just looked incredibly harsh on her. They put us off, and her black Givenchy didn’t exactly impress either. Neither did Julianne Moore‘s Chanel Couture Fall 2011 gown, which like Jessica’s, had a major fit problem as well. Let’s just say the bodice took its cues from the name of the awards show and made her look like she was sagging. There’s more on the list, so carry on to the gallery to have a look.

I grew up thinking that Chanel was the epitome of elegance that I had to inspire to. The day I bought my first Chanel lipstick, I also bought a cake to celebrate. The day I got my first Chanel bag, I went home and pretty much fainted with joy. Thats the thing about the brand — you think tweed, and pearls and couture that makes the world go round. So when I heard about the do celebrating Chanel Fine Jewelry’s 80th anniversary of the ‘Bijoux De Diamants’ collection in New York City, I knew we were going to hit the fashion jackpot. Instead, we hit the crackpot. But first, the least offending looks. Blake Lively, you are f— gorgeous so what is your deal with bad dresses. I do not understand why she wore something that resembles a night-gown? The dress is from Chanel’s Fall 2012 Couture collection and she wore it with pewter Christian Louboutin pumps. But she still looks amazing right? I keep looking at her face and hair and can’t help but sigh. My big peeve is that satin wrinkles horribly and this outfit has fallen prey to some major creases. As did January Jones‘ gown. Love the red lip and the Chanel braclets, but her black-and-white gown needs a serious iron. Jessica Paré rescued us from creasing hell with a suit that looks tweedy and demure enough to be Chanel’s steez, so thank you Jessica. Anyone else here thinks she could have done something more exciting with hair and makeup?
Now let’s get to the more …. experimental looks. Diane Kruger’s black-and-blue metallic strapless shift is from the Chanel Spring 2013 collection. But it’s ill-fitting and her breasts look like they’re being squeezed to death. No harm in more alterations, guys. Then we get to the crazy that is Rose Byrne. I can’t even. What is that? Three-quarters, sheer, fringes … just, NO, Rose. And Elle Fanning, you are adorable. But you aren’t Amish.

While we totally enjoyed the silly way Angelina Jolie insisted on posing with her leg at last night’s Oscars — and the Twitter stir her leg caused all through the night — many of you were more alarmed than amused. Is she really able to stand and walk around on legs skinnier than our arms? Did she give all her food away to war refugees? We’re not completely sure of the normally slender actress was actually thinner than usual last night, or if we’re just not used to seeing that much of her bared leg against the stark contrast of all that Versace velvet. But yeah, there were a bunch of actresses we’d like to feed sandwiches to right about now. Somehow, we doubt they partook in that popcorn that was passed out in the Kodak, much less the 3-D desserts Wolfgang Puck cooked up for the Governor’s Ball. Melanie Griffith’s face was downright sickly looking, and a close inspection of Jane Seymour’s decolletage is not for the weak of heart. There are others whose razor-sharp shoulders and collar bones we’re used to — like Rooney Mara’s — but that didn’t stop us from wishing we could show up, grandma style, and shove plates of food in their faces. Awards season is over ladies, please feast to your heart’s content!

Do Rose Byrne and Anna Faris have the same stylist? They look like twins on the red carpet! Even their hair is almost the same length and style. Both remarkably slender ladies wore similar gowns, although Rose’s Vivienne Westwood shows more skin than Anna’s Diane von Furstenberg. We do love us some black sequins, and even though she’s all covered up, Anna’s DVF has our vote.
The big stars are just beginning to arrive at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, and we’re chomping at the bit to see who will shine and who will totally flop on the red carpet tonight. Just to get things warmed up, let’s take a look at the ladies who either couldn’t wait to get there, or whose publicists really wanted to assure them lengthy interviews (while all the reporters are just biding their time until Brad and Angie and George and Stacey show up). It’s the first Oscars for some, like Milla Jovovich, though you wouldn’t tell by the way she’s killing it with a dazzling sequined Elie Saab. Sequins seem to be the early trend — they’re also a big feature on Rose Byrne’s Vivienne Westwood and Ellie Kemper’s Armani Prive. Berenice Bejo is also wearing Elie Saab, but she chose beading over sequins. Berenice’s hair is our fave of the night so far — we’re kind of envying her Tyra-esque high forehead. Missi Pyle is an early winner, if only because she manages to make the phrase “cruelty-free silkworms” seem like the next big thing in fashion. Check out the gallery for our early pics below, and then watch along on MTV News’ live stream for more!

It’s unfortunate that three ladies from Glee have made it to this SAG Awards list but we can assure you that they’re all on for very valid reasons. We’ll tackle Lea Michele first. It’s odd that she’s on here because she’s been doing so well with red carpet fashion lately, but our problem with her silver-grey Versace get-up she chose tonight is that it washed her out. A brighter lip, perhaps? A different colored shoe? But our biggest issue is with that hip-high slit, which looked tacky. Diva, please!
Then there’s Heather Morris, whose Masai Payan dress just doesn’t work because one half looks like it’s made from pleather and the other half is sheer panels that look confused. Her hairstyle ages her unnecessarily, too. Finishing up the trio is Jenna Ushkowitz in Rebecca Minkoff. The mixture of florals and the sheer paneling, again, makes it a fail.
Rose Byrne wore one of her favorite designers (Elie Saab) but picked a white jumpsuit completely encrusted with sequins, slashed down the front. We have a problem with jumpsuits on red carpets as it is, and this one is just not good. We also don’t know what Busy Philipps was thinking? That much boho is a no-no. We wouldn’t wear this to the beach, let alone an awards show. Shailene Woodley wore a floral L’Wren Scott, but didn’t pay much attention to her hair or makeup. As a result, the dress looked a bit like an arts and crafts project on her. Rounding up the list is Kaley Cuoco whose feathered Ramona Keveza combined with the braided hair borders on milkmaid territory. Could any of these looks be salvaged, or should they just be savaged? Let us know in the comments section!

This red carpet looked like a bunch of fun! The Friends With Benefits premiere took place in New York City last night, at the Ziegfeld theatre and the whole cast looked like they were having a complete blast. Mila Kunis looked stunning in red Lanvin and clowned around with an equally gorgeous Emma Stone wore a contrast red-and-pink Giambattista Valli. Justin Timberlake always wears suits brilliantly and this time was no exception. Mila and he look like they have genuine chemistry, FYI. Jenna Elfman, also wore strapless white and can we ask how tall this woman is? We get high heels, but she just towers over everyone!
The premiere brought in a host of other famous faces too. Everyone from sexy Irina Shayk to Gayle King to Gossip Guy, Matthew Settle and bombshell starlet Emmanuelle Chirqui showed up. But one arrival has become possibly our favorite random guest of all time. Michael Bolton! Michael Bolton, you guys! Which means you totally have to take a look at our gallery.

When the weather gets hot, sometimes all you want to do is hide a Cherry Coke in your purse (or man-bag; I don’t discriminate), sit down in an air-conditioned movie theater, and watch a big, flashy, over-the-top action movie. Alternately genius and goofy, carefully crafted and dripping with molten cheese, X-Men: First Class gets an A- for honoring the big budget summer movie tradition, and is worth seeing even if you don’t know Azazel from Angel Salvatore (don’t worry; I had no idea who they were either).
This is one of the movie’s we can’t wait to watch this summer! The X-Men: First Class premiere took place at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City yesterday and most of the star cast turned up for it. January Jones decided to play where’s-the-baby-bump, because we could see nary a sign of it in her Preen dress and Prada shoes. Zoe Kravitz and Michael Fassbender—co-stars and a couple—looked liked the perfect pair. She was slinky in an Alexander Wang dress and Chanel shoes, and he was gorgeous in a three-piece grey suit and aviators.
James McAvoy (who we just love), Kevin Bacon and Lucas Till rounded up the men and we’re thinking… this movie is going to be such a babe fest! Rose Byrne looked better than we’ve ever seen her in a Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 navy lace dress with Bryan Atwood pumps. We’re a little disappointed that Jennifer Lawrence didn’t show up, but that’s just us fangirling.

As temperatures rise and blockbusters flood the movie theaters, prepare to swim in celebs who became household names via the boob tube. While some have since established themselves as movie stars, we grew to love them on a weekly basis from our couches.
A brunette version of Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively will play leading lady opposite Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern. Mad Men‘s January Jones will trade her 60s housewife getup for a shimmery push-up bra for her role as Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. Ever the uptight but lovable nerd, The Office‘s Ed Helms will reprise his role in The Wolfpack in The Hangover: Part II. This summer’s token fluffy comedy Monte Carlo features plenty of TV’s hottest stars such as Glee‘s Cory Monteith, GG‘s Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, and Wizards of Waverly Place‘s Selena Gomez.
Before the heat and humidity makes us all flee to the movie theaters for relief, check out what TV stars to keep an eye out for in this summer’s biggest flicks.
